I'm one! I'm eating crow.

I thought iPhone for Verizon would be available in June 2011; I thought it would be dumb to introduce a Verizon iPhone in January because it's right after Christmas and that everyone knows a new iPhone will be available 6 months later (as it has every year).

I didn't care at first.. now I sorta do.

but I think imma stay with ATT until the summer. I've never had a dropped call with my iphone (I did with my BB9700).

When I had verizon, I never worried about loosing reception when I went in a certain building.

Eh, who knows. Maybe the new iPhone will be of the "iPhone 4S" branding, so it will include AT&T 4G (rebranded HSPA+) and a slight spec bump, but nothing amazing. Then next year the refresh cycle will continue as normal.

i think this announcement took everyone for a spin:

1) An iPhone announced halfway through the update cycle
2) CDMA only iPhone (Not a combo GSM/CDMA) so a brand new SKU for Apple
3) Steve Jobs NOT PRESENT for the unveiling!!!

I knew the CDMA iPhone was coming when Apple announced the iPad deal with Verizon last fall but I didn't know this was how it would play out.

I was never a nay sayer, but the BEST part of this announcement is that there will be no more "When does the iPhone come out on Verizon?" threads on MR! :)

Haha....yes but now we have the "When does the iPhone come out on Sprint/Cricket/MetroPCS/etc" threads to replace those. It will never end :D

You're probably right...OHWELL!! But now that the AT&T monopoly is broken in the US, it probably won't be as dramatic a thing and it may not take as long.

Like they won't find even more annoying things to replace them with.

iPhone on verizon is going to suck, one of the great features is left out (talk and browse which I use constantly) it's CDMA only so you cant take it anywhere outside the US and who honestly gives a damn about mobile hot spot oh wow five people can link up to my phone and use my Internet! What happens when you get a phone call and the connection drops! Booooooo FAIL

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_2_1 like Mac OS X; en-gb) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8C148 Safari/6533.18.5)

Then a Vz iPhone is not for you. Is someone forcing you to get one?

Like I've said before, I don't have a use for the hotspot. 99% of my day I'm near a wifi network (work, home, friends houses) -- of which allows me to talk and surf at the same time. If I'm NOT near one, I'm driving and not using my browser.

You'd be surprised to see how often you use the 'talk and surf' feature that you are near a wifi network. For me at least, its 9/10 times. The lack of that feature isn't that big of a deal :)

At least now we'll be able to recieve calls.

It's fun to watch the ATT fanboys "stick up" for their network and the Verizon ones already apologizing for the shortcomings of Verizon. Carry on.
