The only reason I ever jail broke my phone was so I could unlock it. Since I will be getting the factory unlocked 4S, i won't have that "need" anymore. I'm an AT&T customer but I also travel internationally.

The one jail broken app I really like, and basically the only one I use is SBSettings.

As for this Pandora debate. If you want unlimited skip, pay for Pandora One. Otherwise, there may not be a Pandora to skip songs on in the future. I'm not trying to be preachy. It's just Pandora is one of the services I really enjoy and it's a really wonderful company with good people. If you like the service, pay for it.

Yes, for nolockscreen and for boss prefs so that i can quickly toggle location services and wifi on and off (unless this capability is in iOS5)

Another thing that sucks about jailbreaking in iOS 5 is that you will lose the ability to get delta updates over the air ...

You also lose iBooks. There used to be no downside to jb, now there are. Add to this the fact that comex incorrectly thinks his programming talents translate into savvy political commentary on Twitter and jb is slowly moving to the ash heap of history.

I don't think I'm entitled to a free service without ads or skip regulations. I never said that. Pandora can do whatever they like with their product, regardless of what I think. But I'm entitled to it if I hack it and make it that way.

I would say its Pandora's responsibility to program their product so that it cannot be hacked by the average Joe sitting at his Mac. Selfishness has nothing to do with it. Maybe you're missing the point.

"If I'm able to rob a bank, I'm entitled to do so. It's their fault that the security wasn't good enough!"

^^^ Your argument in a nutshell.

By the way, it's actually against Pandora's terms of service to do what you are trying to do. So not only is it unethical, but you are not entitled whatsoever to do it.

First off, the principle of my argument does not extend beyond Pandora as far as I'm concerned. Unlimited skipping in Pandora is not equal to robbing a bank.

Secondly, I understand that it is unethical. I understand that I am preventing them from making money. I understand that doing so violates their terms of service. I also understand that we clearly have differing opinions on what is selfish and what is not - which was the original basis of my response.

Bottom line is I'll jailbreak and skip as many songs as I like in Pandora. But I won't cry and whine when Pandora re-works their code so I can't. I'll applaud them for stepping up their game and I'll go back to listening according to their rules until a new hack comes out. If that's selfish so be it.

You still don't get it...

You're not just preventing them from making money, you're making them lose money. They are PAYING for each song you listen to. By having an unlimited skip, you are essentially making them pay a few cents each time you decide to skip to a new song.

How can you not call that selfish? If you understand it's unethical, immoral, and illegal, why do you brag about it?

You do realize there's a reason for the skipping, right? Pandora pays for each song they broadcast, so they lose a lot of money when you skip too much. Knowing that, an unlimited skip should be a pretty selfish thing to ask for.

Poor Pandora. Maybe if they didn't have so many advertisements and commercials people would feel a little sorry for a corporation.

...you people are clueless. I'm out.

"The company officially filed with the SEC for a $100mm IPO on February 11, 2011. Pandora officially began trading on the New York Stock Exchange with ticker symbol "P" on June 15, 2011 at a price of $16/share, giving them a valuation of nearly $2.6 billion.

During its 2011 fiscal year, Pandora reported $138 million in revenue."

So, look, when I'm worth 2.6 Billion and raking in 9 figures a year, maybe I'll feel sorry for Pandora and my unlimited skipping.

You're wrong. Period. You are absolutely NOT entitled with a hack, you're a criminal, and a clueless criminal at that.

Yeah, you didn't think about the tons of money they make off of commercials and advertisements so now you're going to take your ball and go home.

It's amazing to think that some people still think this way. Unreal. Maybe you should share your skills and labor for FREE! How about that? That's exactly what you're asking from Pandora...and the artists, bands and record labels they represent. It's theft! Hacking their service so you can override their system is stealing...IE, 'theft'

Pandora, Spotify, TurntblFM, iTunes, et al...they all provide a very cool service. A new way to enjoy and listen to music. All at a very, extremely reasonable cost. If you're so cheap that you can't pony up ten bucks a month to enjoy that service...the way it was MEANT to be enjoyed...you're the one "missing the point"...Period.

I will, mostly for Barrel, SBSettings, and AndroidLock (for Tap to Unlock).

Weird logic. So if Pandora can't lock up a security hole you have a right to exploit it and the service they offer? I'm guessing you steal a lot of software and music too and feel totally entitled to do so.

I don't use much of the jailbreak stuff other than the unlock. I only use the unlock because I'm a touring musician and am in a different country every day some times and I need to be able to use different SIMs. Wondering how this will work on my soon to be Sprint iPhone 4S. Worked great on my old 3GS.

Don't bother using pandora.

Just get music off some site, convert it to MP3, transfer to phone and you are done.

All this pandora mess will be eliminated.

Yeah, if you're gonna steal music, just steal exactly what you want.

Comex has now gone to work for apple.

The word is that there are no less than 5 userland, untethered jailbreaks for the A5 and IOS 5. Reportedly, these have been avail for some time, but patiently waiting for 4s release so as not to waste them on ipad 2 alone.

Time will tell.

I definitely plan on jailbreaking for MyWi (to tether my phone), My3G, and SBSettings. and now that i'll have an iPhone 4S it wont be so slow with the jailbreak

I am not a huge fan of jailbreaking. Every year there are fewer and fewer reasons to do it.

Now I would do it to tether and to use FaceTime with my wife finally! It may be useful finally!
