I'm not going to bet on an exact date, but it's close now. I think the 17" may well be officially "Retired" at the same time.

Mine is pretty new, and I'm hanging on to it, weight and all! SSD's to enhance the new range and a 15" screen just makes sense....I think my Pro may be a keeper this time!

nooooo! not the 17" :D

at least it wont be the only mac speculated of being killed off.... *cough*mac pro*cough*

i am going to guess somewhere between mid may and end of may... but knowing apple towards the end of 2012 they will release another one -_-

Apple is releasing their earnings tomorrow, the 24th, and I can't see them announcing any computers or upgrades at the same time.

Actually, it makes perfect business sense to announce new MBPs at the earnings call. It is a common strategy when you need to distract from poor earnings or other dismal news. Let's face it, Apple has been struggling in the notebook sales area and the stock has been taking a hit. This could help them out.

I am still hanging on to my 2006 15" MBP. I refuse to upgrade until they make a design change. I've been hoping that this year would finally be the iteration, but you guys are making me worry it's never going to happen.

Each time a new one has come out, I've delayed thinking 'it will be the next version, it has to be'. It's coming on mid-2012 now, come on...

Yeah #2 in laptop sales when you're charging premium prices above your competitors definitely sucks.

Another one of the people who have bought into the 'iOS is selling amazingly well, this must mean Mac sales = poor'. Just because the Macs make up 15% of Apple's revenue doesn't mean poor sales.

No, I am not. The sales of MBPs and MBAs Dropped in the last quarter. Yes, they still outpaced others but compared to the same quarter last fiscal year, they dropped. People aren't buying because they are waiting for the refresh. Many companies use earnings calls for announcements. Is Apple's situation dire? No, not even close. But would it boost their stock? Hell yes.

I was really anticipating a new release but in all honesty i can live without it, I've ordered an SSD for my 2006 macbook and frankly it'll more than make do for surfing the net!

I wonder if this board will just implode if nothing is announced tomorrow. The number of topics about this seems to be pretty ridiculous. I guess we'll have to wait and see. I won't bother saying anything because you know, there are no facts on the table at this point.

As for if I want it to be announced, of course I do :D

But I'll try not to be too disappointed if it doesn't happen. :apple:

One of the strangest things I have ever read..... ;)

Am I one of the only ones who thinks that during their conference tomorrow, would be a great time to announce new products?? I don't see why they need a separate event, stock holders want to know about new products too....and it's a perfect reminder "we still have awesome laptops!!"
Anyone else agree?

If major retailers were not running out of MBP stock, I would think the release was weeks/months away but unless it turns out to be supply chain issue and not a deliberate reduction in stock holding, one would have to assume release is close.

Maybe Apple will release a Ivy Bridge refresh soon and a few months later, they will release a new design. I don't know! I think there was a 2 refresh in one year before.

MBP Ivy Bridge soon (35W for the 13" is out)

MBA Ivy Bridge with Mountain Lion summer

Having never jumped in on a release, if this happens, is it going to be insanely difficult to get a MBP before 5/11 (graduation day... need to have the gift ready)?

No, you won't have a problem, unless they don't release it by then of course.

If you go to an apple store, or best buy, then you will be able to get it....however, online is a different story with apple products

Can't wait. I hope it comes out this week! sold my old one already...

Ordered a new 15" MBP for my sister yesterday, so it would only make sense they announce a new model today...

The stock has been taking a hit?!?!

This is the chart for AAPL so far in 2012... I'd *love* my overall portfolio to take this type of "hit"

No. They've specifically said that they never announce new products during earnings calls before. They have however introduced new products the day afterwards. I don't see that happening though as 15" MacBook pros are still plentiful.
