Ofc I would fight someone for an iPad 3... most that wait in line are skinny geeks! - BRING IT :p

I got an idea. We will call it only the strong geeks survive. To get an iPad tickets you have to fight in the cage. Geeks vs Geeks all fighting for the Apple.

I think that would be epic... thin arms, thick glasses and alot of crying... - LET THE GAMES BEGIN! :p :apple:

I like that, traditional nerd vs the San Francisco Specials. You know the guy who wears "gender neutral clothing" (like a fedora and a striped sailor shirt with a black hoody), is a vegan, works as a urban dj/poet, and enjoys harp music.

Then I can finally say you guys better watch out that guy is a barista...lol

I was seriously considering upgrading to the ipad 3 but ultimately picked up a xoom because of ICS support, expansion slot and 70 less than the current ipad pricing for 32gb vs a 16gb model.

I know i am going to want that retina display so I might still pick one up anyway.

I'm buying the iPad 3 once a jailbreak is released. I got the iPhone 4S on launch day, I won't make the same mistake twice.

I would do this for the iPhone, but I can live without the iPad jailbroken. If the iPad 3 uses the A5, I'm sure it won't be long.

I can agree with this...I'm a potential first time iPad buyer and a jailbreak doesn't worry me too much...they'll get it eventually, and until then, there isn't anything I NEED (or foresee needing). My iPhone 4 is jailbroken though, so I know how useful it is...but I can live without it.

Also, what are the chances of the iPad 3 using the same A5 processor the 2 has? Even the iPhone 4->4S bump saw a processor upgrade. At the very least, it'll get the A5X, if not A6...so it could be a while...

Yeah me. My friend is buying my iPad 2 for £300 so won't have to put too much to upgrade. Reckon the release date will be while I'm in Dubai though so will have to get my brother to order online on the day for me... can't see them doing pre-orders. Waited in line at Apple, Birmingham last year but then got a ticket for Black ( PC World/Currys) and ended up 15th in line there instead. Had a white iPad 2 but going back to Black for iPad 3. Got a black iPhone and just prefer it i think. Will just be basic 16gb wifi model for me.

Ehh....

I've got a 64 gig iPad 2 with AT&T 3g, and Gazelle quoted me $350. Yeah, it's a year old, but that's a 60%, or almost $500, hit. Day-um. I remember smugly scoffing at the depreciation rates suffered by pc users.

I also have a 32 gig iPhone 4s, which means that I've also got Siri.

Also have a logitech folding keyboard case that I'm pretty darned fond of. And the iPad 2 is currently meeting my present needs just fine. And like any new apple release, it'll be a couple of months before ANY third party accessory is released, and a couple more months before the really good stuff hits.

My answer would have to be a qualified no, based upon the current plausible speculation about the 3's capabilities. Siri? Irrelevant due to my 4s. Better cameras? Same answer. Retina display? Nice, but my 2 isn't exactly atari 2600 graphics. 4g/LTE? Also nice, but I've got wifi at my house, office and the two offsite workplaces I visit most frequently. The 3 is twice as fast opening PDF's, etc., in real world usage? Okay, you've got my attention. Same dimensions to work with existing iPad 2 accessories? Hmm. Improved iCloud functionality that I don't have to buy max storage on the device itself? Go on...

But the biggest qualification would have to be that Tim Cook doesn't have an "WTH?!? OMFG!" 'one more thing' feature at the end of the presentation.

Yes, I've hedged my bets, and left a bit of wiggle room. But I do use my iPad for work, and to make money. And in the absence of an eyepopping, skull splitting one last thing, that's the only analysis...will the new machine boost my productivity enough to at least pay for itself?

I'll be curious as to what shakes down at the event.

Oh, nice thing about knowing the blackshirts (Apple business team) at your local apple store is that they can often raid the incoming shipments and cherry pick for their business customers. :D

There is no way that it will have LTE... Why would they put 4G in a tablet before their more successful iPhone line?!?

iPad 3 to have 3G again, iPhone 5 to have LTE, and iPad 4 to then get LTE.'

Becaaaause it would make a bit more sense to have it in a tablet then in a phone? - And iPad is very succesful and my guess is Apple want to be in the front of the race, LTE tablets are coming, and coming fast + windows 8 is coming..

Why do you think there is a pecking order of what devices get the newest technology? From a functionality perspective, the iPad would utilize LTE speeds much more than an iPhone anyway. I think it would be stupid if Apple could put LTE into the iPad 3, but wait until the iPad 4, all because the iPhone is more "successful". If that does happen, poor Steve Jobs will be rolling in his grave (R.I.P)

Do you not remember the A4 and A5 processors? Both of them were in the iPad before the iPhone.

If an iDevice is going to get LTE first, it'll be the iPad, because it has a much larger battery to compensate for more battery drain.
