So, who walked in randomly and got a 3GS?

Did not really 'walk in' but I did a pre-order at BB at 8pm Thursday night, got it Friday.

They had a few left for walk ins even when I picked mine up early afternoon.
 
I walked into my local AT&T store (In MD) just after 1200pm and out with a 32GB white. No line, no hassle, was out in 20 minutes. They had 1 32GB 3GS left after my purchase and a couple of 16gb 3GS.. and a lot of 8GB 3G's (going for $99)
 
I didn't decide to pull the trigger on a 3GS until Friday morning. Went to the Apple store at 6pm and the had about 10 people in the preorder line and sold out of any extras. So I went to the ATT store and got the last one. In and out in 5 minutes. I was really surprised they had any left that late in the day on Friday.
 
Walked In

Walked into best buy yesterday at 12:00 to see if they had any, they did, 32GB Black. Picked it up, walked out, no lines. 3G Early adopter.

Went to the apple store after work ( about 5:00pm EST ) , there was no line, so I just said "screw it, i'll buy the s" (since I just wanted to see the mob, and I already had a 3g )and walked in, and 10 minutes later I walked out. In fact it was so fast I didn't even have to pay the parking fee at the mall since I was under the minimum 1/2 hr time! lol :D
 
I walked into Best Buy around 2:00 walked out with a new activated 3G S at 2:15 no reservation. 5 min wait at the phone center 10 min to activate, sign and pay.
 
I decided yesterday afternoon to see if any were available. I called all of the AT&T stores in my area & none had the 16GB at all but had 32GB. The first Best Buy I went to (for other reasons) had no 16GB & a couple of black 32GB & no one in line. I wasn't looking to spend that much, even though I was upgrade eligible, so I didn't pull the trigger. I went to another Best Buy & they had 1 black 32GB left so I let them talk me into buying it. I've got Buyer's Remorse this morning for having gotten the 32 instead of the 16 but I think that will pass ;-). There was no one in line at this Best Buy either.

i cant believe people stood in lines for hours
 
Pre-ordered mine from Apple, UPS came about 9:45, hubby saw mine wanted one, went to my at&t they still had 32G black in-stock.:)

I pre-ordered (reserved) one through apple.com after they changed the policy for current customers and their upgrade eligibility. But since the nearest Apple is an hour away I tried my luck at the AT&T in my mall. They only had 32 gb's left. So I went my way and browsed the mall some more and then saw a couple people walking away from an AT&T kiosk in the same mall. I went over and asked and they had one 16 gb white left. I was done within 10 minutes. I love it but I wish my visual voicemail was working. Anyone else have issues with that??
 
Planning on walking into a store next week. Had to wait for my paycheck to come in.
 
Stopped in yesterday at the Apple Store in Cherry Hill, wanting to see the crowd and kinda on the fence with whether or not to do it. Saw the lines were pretty darn small (about 7 in the reserve and about 18 in the non-reserve).

Took only about an hour and walked out with a new 32GB 3GS Black. At that time they'd sold out of the 16GB White, were running low on the 32GB White, but had plenty of stock for everything else.
 
i did! went to the apple store and the wait was about and hour and a half they said. i decided i didn't want to wait and would come back later. then i drove to the att store about 2 minutes away and practically walked right in. only 2 people in line in front of me :)
 
i went to my at&t store yesterday at 6am and was third in line. No pre order and got my 32gb black.
 
32G Black was sold out at my apple store before the door opened, they only had enough to cover preorders. 32G white was low when they opened. I would've pre-orderdered but was not eligible for upgrade until the 18th and couldn't preorder then. I just walked in and got the black 16 I wanted. (I'll buy the 32 or 64 next year)
 
I waited in line for 30 - 40 mins no pre order and got my 32gb black iphone 3Gs!!!
 
I had one ordered from the premier site the evening of the 17th.... then was walking thru the FairOaks Mall past the apple store. I walked in and talked to the concierge and she said there were 2 lines for the iphone the walk in line... (50 people) and the preorder line (2 people)....

I asked her if I could use one of the mac books real quick and I went to apple's website and started the upgrade procedures got approved and went and stood in the preorder line. 15 minutes later I was back in the food court waiting for my GF to finish shopping.....

the other people were still waiting in line....

I wasn't going to get the 3Gs but after reading the forums all afternoon I decided to head to the Apple store and try my luck.

Got to the Baybrook store in Houston about 7:50pm and was leaving the mall at 8:55. :)

The guy in the orange shirt said that they couldn't guarantee a 16gb would be available by the time I got into the store. Which was fine because I wanted the 23gb. Before I went to the mall I called 3 AT&T stores and 2 Best Buys and they were all sold out.
