I'm not sure just yet, but positioned myself for some flexibility. I just bought an open box iPad 2 3G 16gb from Best Buy for $499. I figure my options are:

  1. Keep this iPad 2 and when the price drops in a few days, take my receipt in for an adjustment.
  2. If the iPad HD/3 specs look more enticing, I have 45 days to return this iPad 2 and get a WiFi HD/3 instead for about what I just paid (I probably don't need 3G, but got it just in case).

I have been upgrading and will be iPads and iPhones :) you take a very minimal loss but you have the best :)

will be the first iPad I buy...
first two just weren't worth it for me, was waiting for one with THESE specs

I've only had my iPad2 for about five months or so and I'm very happy with it, so I'm not going to upgrade. I just don't feel that I'm missing anything with my current user experience and I've never been the kind of person who wants the latest/ most updated technical gadget. When the iPad 4 comes around I'll have a think about it again, but for now I'm perfectly happy.

But I got a 20 month old who absolutely loves the iPad 2. He's knows how to use it. Even figured out the slide to unlock finger swipe. And he knows how to swipe to his apps and play elmo PBS kids and Thomas apps.

So I am keeping the iPad 2 for him and getting iPad 3 hopefully for myself this time.

Ditto! I have a 2.5 year old who loves his learning apps and Netflix for watching his Go Diego Go and Thomas cartoons. Like your little one, he figured it all out early and it's his to keep and grow with and to learn on.

Did the preorder for a white 16 GB wifi only just after work tonight:D.

I'm sure that apps and magazines will be larger so I can't imagine dropping to 16gb and my area doesn't have 4g coverage (and likely won't this year) so it'd be a pretty apples-to-apples switch (I have an iPad2 wifi 32gb). The only thing that's giving me pause on upgrading is the additional weight on the new one.

Got an iPad 2 at launch and I preordered a new iPad yesterday. Switching between the screens on my iPhone and iPad still bugs me sometimes so I'm looking forward to the retina display. Enough of an upgrade for me.

I'm going to try and keep my iPad 2 but I have a feeling the new retina display will ruin it for me. It's already blurry as it is! I'll probably give/sell the iPad 2 to a family member or friend.

I have the iPad "3" on order.

At the moment I'm not planning on getting it. But I will reserve final decision until I see one in person.

i Am gonna wait until I can see iBooks on one. I read all the time so thats my main thing. If the text clarity makes a big difference (which I think it will) - I will go for one (same 16GB WiFi white).

<jk>Might have to sell the cats for medical research first as can't afford it any other way....</jk>

I'm keeping my original iPad. I'm testing 5.1 now and it seems like it's running smoother than 5.0.1 did. 5.1 and itunes 10.6 got me more pumped than the ipad announcement.

I'm gluing the edges of my iPad 1 to the iPad 2 and then to the iPad 2012 so I have a triangle of devices :)

You can't honestly be serious about the iPad 2 having a blurry screen. If you have it two inches away from your face you can see individual pixels. But it's not like the screen is blurry when reading text from a normal distance away.

If you read a large amount of Japanese and Chinese characters, then I can see the display maybe being slightly annoying. But it isn't blurry enough to justify your blurry claim.

I'm trying to justify the money.

5 megapixel camera: I already have a 12 megapixel Canon camera.
Retina display: Not that big of a deal for me.
LTE: I don't need it.

I'm trying to convince myself why I should upgrade.

Just curious as to who is NOT upgrading, and keeping their iPad 2. I'm sure a ton of people got the 2 recently, just curious.

I'm definitely considering upgrading, I have my iPad 2 for sale currently but i'm starting to question myself, and here is why;

Yes, retina will be incredible, but my MBA AND iMac have a lower PPI, and they don't necessarily bother me.

It will likely take developers awhile to fully utilize the new resolution, and aside from reading text (which admittedly will look better) there isn't a HUGE advantage towards the new resolution (yet).

Also, selling my iPad 2 i'm looking at nearly a 300$ loss on the price I paid initially, thats a big pill to swallow!

Again, i'm not sure what i'll do, I might keep iPad 2, might sell it, or might give it to my parents considering the loss I would take selling it.

So, back on topic, who is keeping their iPad 2?

Keeping my iPad 2 as it does everything I need.

Why? I'm not. Sure it would be nice to have the 3 but really, the 2 is more than adequate.

I just bought my iPad 3 LTE 16 GB last night. I have an iPad 2 wifi 32 GB that I will be selling to make back some of the money for the LTE version. I wanted to get a LTE model incase I travel, I will have connection even if wifi isn't available.

I debated getting it or just keeping the iPad 2 but figured I would upgrade now and will see what next year brings. With that said, I will be looking to sell my iPad 2 once the iPad LTE arrives. I will look at the forum rules for selling but if anyone is interested send me a email to scottw324@gmail.com

I know how that feels. Our son is just over 2 years and he can handle his grandma iPad2 with ease; browsing pictures and videos of himself, kids stuff on youtube, fingerpainting ... he recently tried finger-swipes on laptop and TV. To his surprise, it did not work :)

Now we might need to get two (or even three) iPads 3 for our family (we never owned one before).

Kids!

Cheers, R>

First of all I have disposable income.

Second. I normally would have sold my iPad 2 64gb a month ago and applied the funds towards the iPad 3 since I am a techie who loved greater latest.

But I got a 20 month old who absolutely loves the iPad 2. He's knows how to use it. Even figured out the slide to unlock finger swipe. And he knows how to swipe to his apps and play elmo PBS kids and Thomas apps.

Ok, now that I look at it, I guess I meant pixelated. When compared next to my 4s my first thought was "blurry."

Love my iPad 2 3G. No need to update to the new iPad. There will be far more compelling upgrades ahead. This jump just doesn't excite me though the new range is quite nice.

Just curious, what would have made you make the jump?
