Getting a smartcover. I got a light grey one for the Ipad 2 which I gave to the wife. Anyone have any recommendations on a good color for the black Ipad? Leaning toward black smartcover

Never use a screen cover, but I did order a tan leather smart cover for my new white iPad.

Ordered a black leather Smartcase at the time I ordered the iPad 3 (thats what I'm calling it, period), and as soon as they arrive I'm having a custom padded aluminum case made for it. It will be able to survive a 5 ft fall on concrete. Repeatedly.

At the very least, when my cats knock it out of whatever protective perch I've got it in (when I'm at work) it will survive a 5 ft fall to carpeted or hardwood flooring.

Obviously the aluminum case is for protection. The Smartcase is a low level stand and food dripping protector.

On a side note, I had some chirping, moving bird animation thing on my iPad 1. Cat would bat it around on the floor endlessly. No scratches on the glass that I could see. Gorilla glass?

I've never used anything on my iPhone or iPad 2. So far, I've had no scratches or mishaps of any kind -- knock on wood! It seems almost a sacrilege to wrap one up in a big bulky and ugly something or other.

My sister has her iPhone covered in a big fat pink rubber thing. Oooo! It looks atrocious. I'd rather pay for possible repairs than humiliate my gorgous iPad or iPhone (mostly myself) with that ugliness. Now with AppleCare +, there's absolutely no need to sheath such an elegant and beautifully designed new iPad at all. All my iDevices will be always sans pantaloons. LOL

Navy leather smart cover, that's it. Screen protectors are like wrapping your couch in plastic.

are the leather a better quality over all from the poly for the price?

The quality on both are great, but the leather is really good quality, definitely worth the 30 dollars extra. (although when i first bought my smart cover one of the reasons i fetched for leather was because the insides were the same color as the outside, as apposed to the poly covers all being grey on the inside, now the poly's are the same color)

Plus the poly's were a little too loud for me

I bought the charcoal grey smartcover for the front. The back will be naked. I have an incase soft cotton pouch to slide it in when travelling.

I also bought an awesome messenger bag for $9 through a price mistake :)

Thanks! Might go with a leather this time around!

I'm ghost armouring the front and back and prob getting a smart cover again :( (unless I can find a cheaper option) Then when traveling I have my Brenthaven sleeve.

Anyone use the Red or blue smart cover on there 2's? How did it hold up over a year?

so far i got myself a smart cover thinking if i should add a screen protector as well but also thinking maybe i might want a cool case for it?

anyways lets start a trend what are you guys planning on getting for your new iPad?

I got the 64GB wifi model in black. I got a dark grey smart cover, and a Scosche Snapshield, compatible with the smart cover, in two-tone, (grey/dark grey). I get the both of both worlds: a smart cover for the front, and a durable protective cover for the back, without sacrificing style, or being stuck with just black. After spending nearly $800 on the new iPad and smart cover at Apple, getting the Scosche Snapshield for the back at half price, ($19.99 + $5 shipping at buy.com), was a bargain. Plus, I'll have both the smart cover and Snapshield before my iPad arrives, so they can go on right away.

At first, I am just getting a green smart cover. I may get a case or something to protect the back in the future, but I'm not sure yet.

I'm debating what to get. My iPad 2 had a gray poly smartcover and a matching Hammerhead rear protection plate. I emailed Hammerhead and they are positive it won't fit the New iPad since it fits the current model so closely, the extra thickness is just enough to have it pop out of place. I was going to keep the smartcover to use with the New iPad but now I'm thinking I may include it when I sell the old one.

My major concern in not choosing a 3rd party cover like the Marware was the chance it wouldn't put the iPad to sleep as easily as the Apple branded covers do. Can anyone attest to the Marware Smartcovers putting the iPad to sleep on close without much issue? Do they still adhere to the magnetic edge like the Apple covers do?

black leather and vibrant green smart covers from my iPad 2 are ready. Just need an updated clear Belkin back protector and I'm good to go.

Incipio Lexington FTW!!!!! :D

This one looks nice. Do you have a recommendation on where to buy it for the best price? Thanks!

I stumbled on it accidentally in a store after a two hour search for the perfect iPad cover. Google it online and you should be able to find a place to order it. It's truly wonderful and is the best way of protecting the iPad with minimal bulk and while enjoying the smart cover as a stand. :)

For UK iPad 3 purchasers:

Found an iPad 3 case on Amazon:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/TeckNet®-Pr...1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1331240949&sr=1-1

Only £7.99, but if you put the following code in at the checkout stage you get £2.00 off:

It's sister case for the iPad 2 gets universal glowing reviews:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/TeckNet®-Pr...6K/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top#productPromotions.

With the discount at a cost of only £5.99 it's worth a punt even if it's just a temporary measure.

Great shout. I was tending towards some of the other, more premium cases being discussed but most are unavailable in the UK as yet so this will do nicely as a temporary option - may even keep it if its as good as the reviews of the iPad 2 version are.
