There is nothing sexist about the science or the facts. Describing colors as "girly" is not sexist. Using "girly" as a derogative, like the OP did, is sexist.
Isn't that what the use seems to be in this case, to describe colors?

The politically correct definition of sexism? Or the real one? You may find different meanings as well.

I don't usually find politics in Merriam Webster.

Colors in and of themselves cannot express gender (girly-ness). He was using the term "girly" to describe something he finds distasteful.

I'm confused. In the title of the thread, OP described the iOS 7 color palette as "girly pastel colors." Isn't that just describing colors as "girly"? I don't see where the derivative is. It's clear that OP doesn't like those colors, but surely failure to like "girly pastel colors" isn't necessarily sexist, is it?

Are you really like this all the time? The genders are different. I would call toning your body a girly thing to do, that doesn't mean I disrespect it.

I am a body builder, not a toner. I don't run until my body is a certain size (I do run though), I build my body.

But just because I'd call it girly doesn't mean I disrespect it, it means I prefer something else. I would not want someone who wants to get super big as a girl. I would want someone who likes pink, and tones their body, even if I don't like to wear it myself, or tone myself.

The sexes are NOT the same. They compliment each other. Learn that before continuing to complain.

Seriously, you are just complaining for the sake of it. Go outside, see how the real world works for once instead of complaining online.

While the genders are different, assigning an issue of taste to a particular gender is gross overgeneralization and stereotypy.

I think it's clear that he is using it as a derogative based on context.

1. The colors in iOS 7 are not predominantly the ones associated with women.
2. "Ugh they look like my 8 year old daughter colored them..." seems pretty straightforward to me. :)

I am sorry that you seem to lack the cognitive ability to understand the term sexism. In light of that, I'm not sure that it's beneficial to either of us to continue the conversation.

I wasn't complaining. I was just pointing something out. You're attributing emotion to my posts that isn't there. Like I said, I find the world to be a much better place when people are aware of how the choices they make are perceived by others. Perhaps the OP intended to be sexist. That is a choice he or she makes. I'm not in a position to change behavior. Awareness I can do. That was my only point.

1. Colors are "girly" as in description of the colors, which doesn't seem to be sexist, as you pointed out yourself.
2. The poster doesn't like those colors and uses a personal life example to bring a more vivid example of what they appear to him like.

Nothing seems derogatory.

You seem to be ignoring the explanation that you already received. No one is saying that the sexes are the same.

As another example, there is nothing wrong with calling a gay man "gay". Using the word "gay" as an insult is offensive.
