No, you got it all wrong. He didn't say Apple was losing fans. He said Apple was "loosing" fans. :D

Now why would anyone wanna' do that?

ha ha ha! Well, jailbreakme.com 3.0 coming soon! and so on and on and on and on..... and by the way... Apple is loosing the coolness more and more... beware, iFans are dying slowly, young users don't care of Apple history and today it doesn't matter who introduce the first gadget...it who build the best one. tic toc tic toc.... people are getting aware.

Laugh. Whatever, mate. I'm sure you’ve got Jobs is trembling. If you don't like or want Apple products then simple, go by a RIM phone and a Dell. Really , we wouldn't mind if you do.

And it begins. By "it" I mean having several users on several different OS's with the new device. No doubt an influx of "my phone SUCKS" after the update...or, "why is my jailbreak gone"?!?

I'm not much of a gamer but imam

Sounds good, but Apple needs to change the way they do iOS software updates. No matter how small the changes are, users have to download the entire +350MB OS. This is very inefficient and probably discourages a lot of users from updating. Apple needs to do incremental updates.

In dev tools state of the union, they said that syncing dev apps is done based on differences, not the entire thing. Let's hope they move that tech over to updating.

Re: waiting for next update. Do we have a Microsoft on our hands here? "We know there's an exploit, and we have a fix for it, but we're gonna hang on to it for now."

Don't see why Apple really cares . There would be a lot less iPhones to replace/repair since jail-breaking voids the warranty.

I think most people jailbreak to unlock anyways to use on other carriers besides AT&T. I bet AT&T pushes Apple to avoid that from happening.

Well, no 30% sales cut for Apple on jailbroken applications.

But the point is they can be attacked my malicious software... lets see hmm not update to "avoid the warranty" or have a ton of users switch to another phone because their credit card / (insert personal information here) got stolen.

I'm 19 and own a Macintosh Plus, and think Sculley really ran Apple into the ground by offering each and every computer under three names. This iFan has a good 60 years left.

Remember: When Jobs reveals his iPro Performa, it's all over.

So does that mean that anyone who did the jb on jailbreakme.com has to jb again?

Despite the fact that us younger people buy much technology, I don't think most people really know what they're buying.

If you don't know what you are doing, don't jailbreak.

Seriously?

This is my 1st jb. I do NOT upgrade?

When Apple releases a new version of the OS and you install it via iTunes, it overwrites your jailbreak and all of your jailbreak apps. You go back to a stock Apple configuration. The people that create the jailbreaks always advise you to never update your OS until they're certain that the current jailbreak still works on the new OS, or until they release a new jailbreak that works on the new OS version.

So what usually happens is that Apple releases a new version of iOS, and you wait for the new jailbreak. When it's released, update your iPhone in iTunes, and then re-jailbreak using the new method.

Apple is quick! :D I wonder when they will release it?

Apple is quick with some things. It took them the better part of three weeks to admit there was a problem with the iPhone 4 in the realm of the antenna (or, depending on which side you believe, how the phone calculates and displays signal strength.)

It also took them three weeks to admit that there have been "some" (their word) reports of problems with the proximity sensor. The clock is still ticking and we're at six weeks out and the proximity sensor problem still has not been corrected. To add insult to injury, there are still recent reports that "geniuses" are still acting dumbfounded when people bring their phones in due to the proximity sensor issue. Some geniuses are still saying, "I've never heard of this before; you're the first one with this problem. . ." etc.

Glad the exploit is getting fixed. Just hope Apple doesn't break the jailbreak itself. It's time for Apple to stop the fight against the JB community. With the federal ruling and the ease of the latest JB leading to so many first timers enjoying the choice of apps that the Cydia/Rock stores give them, Apple really can't ignore the fact that people want to do this with their phones. I don't have a problem with Apple not supporting JB phones, but let it be a "do at your own risk" kind of thing. Time to stop the cat and mouse game.

It is a do it at your own risk thing. Apple is under no obligation to help, or to make sure that it doesn't break jailbreaks.

Makes me wonder if they will roll a 3.1.3 to patch this on the older iPhone and iPod touch. If they don't, thats leaving a pretty big security hole open on those platforms.

For those saying Boo Apple or whatever for fixing this, you really need to get your priorities straight. Sure, it lets you jailbreak your device, but it's also an exploit waiting to be used by someone far less honest for far worse things.

Keep the jailbreaks local where a user has to actually have physical access to the device. Outside that, any remote code exploits should be killed as quickly as possible. People here like to bash Microsoft and others over security, Apple should be no different in peoples minds for security expectations.
