I'd be willing to bet this means no Apple TV or 10.5.2 updates until next week. Apple seems to release about 3 updates at a time and doesn't release any others for about a week. They probably don't want to bog down their servers.

I want my Apple TV update

Not True

iWork '08 updates (Numbers, Pages, and Keynote) released 1/29/08

iWeb '08 update released 1/30/08

Also iTunes, Quicktime, Front Row and iMovie were all 4 updated the same day (1/15/08)

I am not the best at math but I THINK that adds up to 4 updates that week

Hey now! I said I was just curious. I wasn't arguing or doubting you or anything. I just said I was curious as to what you thought it needed. Please don't write in such a condescending way! This is a friendly forum!

I am a studio owner, actually. I have had problems with Logic, sure, but I would hardly call it a disaster. I have also had problems with Digital Performer. I don't use Pro Tools, but I have played in sessions during which the engineer had problems with it. From what I have learned, and apparently what you have learned too, Logic is the best software for me.

Sorry to come off this way, I am just very frustrated that we are at 8.0.1 now with so many reported issues such as the dreaded overload message and the fact that Logic is not nearly as efficient as it should be on a new 8 core MP with 10GB of RAM. To be honest my system was so much smoother with Pro Tools running on a MP 2.66 Tiger..I don't know whether to blame Logic at the .1 stage or Leopard at the .1 stage..? Probably it's a combo. I have big hopes for 10.5.2 and what might magically get fixed in Logic if you get what I mean.

Yeah, I understand your frustration. Hopefully the next update to either will help you out.

Just curious as to what you think it needs.

Bugfixes. Logic 8.0.1 has many many MANY problems, some of them very big ones. And cpu efficiency has taken a HUGE drop since Logic 7, which is even worse on 10.5.

The latest version of Logic is one of the sloppier releases I've seen from apple in recent years, version 8 was delayed so long and still shipped with so many problems. 8.0.2 better be on the way soon.

When I scrolled through events in iPhoto after updating, I noticed it shows a big overlay with the date to help identify where you are in your events collection. Is that new or have I just been drunk all the days before now and not noticed it?

way more to go...

If Apple continues like this, we are going to see the TextEdit-, Stickies- and (of course) Safari-update before we even come close to 10.5.2! Not good.

It'll ship when it is ready. Get over it.

Apple's CoreOS dev team have nothing to do with the applications dev teams.

I think it is the extra libraries for their pro applications. The only thing I know that is extra is UI parts. The pro applications use some custom UI.

Yup,

I'm glad STP works for you.
It's still a POS for me, and now it won't even open!!

Sorry to hear that. It works fine for me, as you can see. I'm on a MBP 15" 2.33GHz.

Logic Pro works too (as well as it did before this recent update).

I wasn't gloating or anthing when I posted that screenshot. I was just showing how it looked different from the "normal" apps.
Btw, I would love having the rest of the OS look like that – small buttons and less wasted space all over.

You're better at remembering or at least researching then I am. The real point of my comment was convincing myself not to get excited about the Apple TV update.

i'd been hoping for iPhoto fixes... unfortunately i need fixes for iPhoto 6, which still crashes on occasion when it decides it can't handle my library.

Isn't "braille display" an oxymoron?
:D

Apple's Dictionary does include the following definition of "display," though:

"the process or facility of presenting data on a computer screen or other device"

A braille display could fit into that definition, IMO

Been a happy iphoto user for a long time but this update has trashed my library :(

There are no events or photos when I open iphoto but the pictures are still in the library folder when I open up the library file directly.

Anyone else get this or any ideas on how to fix it?

YES!! (actually.. More like NOOO!!)

--ignore--
This is a serious iPhoto update. Scrolling down the "photos" view with "event titles" enabled used to be exceptionally slow (it was okay before the iphoto08).. Now its really fast (ed: no it's not, lol). Previously '08 treated it like you were scrolling past a roll of hundreds of photos even if that roll was collapsed, causing it to lag crazily (on both my macbook, wife's macbook pro and my dual G5) .. I'm so happy they sorted that out as it made managing photos much more annoying.
----

Bah, wishful thinking - spoke too soon, it's actually still annoyingly slow, possibly faster but not as fixed as it should be, or as fast as it was before 08. >.< I don't understand how they've messed that up so much.
