Braided solo loop here. Ordered a 10 per the new Apple size tool (and self measurement). Fit perfectly for a few days and now it’s too loose. Won’t accurately track heart rate or distance. Apple is sending a size 9 replacement.

Ordered a different color in size 10 as well (won’t be here for a few more weeks). Thinking about canceling the order.

My wrist is 6.5 inches which measured out as a size 7 band but when I went in to pick it up I tried it on and it was to big. I wound up getting the size 6. Very very comfortable

According to the sizing guide I am a 7. I ordered a 5 based on all the reports of bands being loose. Watch came today. 5 was way too tight. Returning the band and getting the 7.
update. size 7 is too big. my one time band swap has expired & I'm told I have to return the entire watch and reorder if I want size 6. size 5 was leaving red marks & was painful. using apple print out to correct scale I measured 7 pulled tight. might just give up on the solo loop and get Ali Express knock offs. their return policy is embarrassing.

What is the benefit of the Solo Loop over the Sport band? They look similar aesthetically but look like a complete pain to get on having to stretch it over your hand each time. I keep seeing complaints of sizing issues and stretching which made me ask this question.

It is a pain getting it over my hand, but once it's in place, it's extremely comfortable. I'm not sure why you'd think it's aesthetically similar to the Sports Band -- Sports Band has holes, the loop has no holes. Also, the solo loop is so light, and the Sports Band is so heavy. Unless you are talking about the Velcro band, which I think is called the Sports Loop? That band has a much rougher texture than the Solo loop. Even the Braided Loop feels much smoother than the Velcro band.

I was talking about the Sport Band:

Generally they look similar unless you view the underneath and are only a few grams different in weight I would imagine.

No, ‘Sport Band’, that’s Apples naming convention not mine.

okay, if you look at it from that angle, then yes, the Sport Band and Solo Loop may look similar, but only from that one particular angle.

Also, the Solo Loop is a lot thinner than the Sport Band, a lot more flexible, and much lighter. I suppose the difference is indeed a few grams, but when you are talking about something like watch bands, a few grams could be like 50% weight difference.

It’s 22 grams apparently. The Sport Band is 37 grams and the Solo Loop is 13 grams. It wouldn’t make much difference if it’s paired with a heavy watch like the stainless models but would be an advantage on the aluminium models. Then again if someone is concerned about the weight of the strap, they won’t be buying the stainless anyway.

I do have an aluminum watch, but I suspect it does make a difference, even with the heavier watches. It's not just the weight, but that the loop is thin and flexible enough to mold closely to your skin, whereas the Sport Band just isn't flexible at all.

Comfort. Stretching it over your hand takes less than a second. Quicker than doing up a strap. But once it’s on it’s incredibly comfortable. Hardly notice it’s there.

my wrist size is 17 - 17,5 cm.
with original apple sportband small medium i wear at the bottom second hole for relax fit. bottom 3rd hole a little tight fit.

i want to purchase braided solo loop. what size do you suggest to me?
thank you very much

So I just brought me a 40mm series 6 watch from Best Buy. I did the measurement from Apple and landed on a 5, should I downsize to a 4 for a solo loop band? Not sure if I will make it to an Apple store in time because I might be entering another lockdown because of COVID.

I just ordered a 40mm Series 6 Blue with the Atlantic Blue Braided Solo Loop. I measured my wrist with a tape measure before ordering and the length was 16.5 cm loosely measured and about 16.0 - 16.3 cm when pulled tight. When you enter these measurements into the Apple Sizing guide on their orde page, it showed a size 7 with 16.5 cm and a size 6 with 16.0 cm. I then downloaded and printed their measuring strip from their website and it showed me very close to the line between 6 and 7. I decided to take the advice of people posting here and on Reddit and ordered the smaller size 6. I arranged for local pickup at my Apple Store and when I got there, the Apple sales person insisted on measuring my wrist again before handing over my order. She peeled open a package with a measuring strip and had me stick and wrap the strip around my wrist and then show her the size. We confirmed that I was almost on the line between 6 and 7 and she confirmed that size 6 (slightly smaller) was the correct way to go. I've been wearing it for a day and all is well. It feels snug but comfortable (see photo). I expect it to stretch a tiny bit so this is definitely the right size. Hope this is helpful.

I ordered the braided loop. I printed the Apple tool and ensured it was printed out at the correct size by putting my credit card in the area shown.

The Apple tool showed my wrist to be 7, so I thought to be safe I will order a 6 & 7 (as I have read some people say about going for a size less than shown).

Well the straps arrived today and the 7 was way too big and so was the 6. I'm now returning the straps and I have just ordered size 4 and 5 (size 4 is the smallest size in the 44 mm strap).

Just to update.
I received the size 4 and 5 straps around 10 days ago.

The size 4 and 5 fit, but the size 4 felt a little bit on the pinch'y side when my hands/wrist got warm.
I wore the size 5 for a few days before finally deciding, and it feels perfect. Amazingly comfortable and you forget you are wearing it.

Needless to say, the measuring tool that you print off is way off (and yes I printed it at the correct size and checked by placing a credit card in the box on the printout).

Just thought I would post the update, to help others with sizing.

Could someone please clarify approximately how much smaller each size of the loop is? As I mentioned earlier, 9 is too big for me. I can easily put my index finger between my skin and the underside of the band. I’m wondering if I need to drop to 8 or 7. I definitely don’t want it too tight though. Thank you

You do need to be able to slip a finger under the loop though, this is the same with any watch strap. It you can shake your hand from side to side and the watch pretty much stays put, then I would say the sizing is correct for you.

With regards to sizing, the printout showed me a 7. I ordered the 6 and 7 (both of which were too big). I then ordered the 4 and 5, and in the end, the size 5 is perfect for me. So in this instance, the sizing shown by the print off is two sizes out.

My wrist measured 17.3 Apple said it was a size 8. So I got a size 8 and it’s PERFECT. Not to lose not to tight. I wore it to bed and it’s actually a tiny bit to tight for that but during the day it is exactly the size I need. Doesn’t move around and fits so snug. It’s weird how so many people are having issues with this!

What’s wrong with your wrists man!!!!

😄
