Oh $20 was just an arbitrary figure that I felt would be well over the amount that it should be. But I’m actually hoping they don’t roll it into existing subscriptions because I want to pay only for that and not also for Apple Music or fitness or anything else. Kind of like I have to pay for the golf channel, a channel I never watch, on cable just to be able to finance HGTV for example. I actually think $2.99 would be a fair price if there really is a substantial advance in what Siri can do, and as you say, it has to be something that is useful to me.
Yeah, actually you're right. Keep it separate. I don't want an excuse for bloating the Apple One subscription and hiking the price for something I don't want.

I'd guess $16-$26 a month for the AI stuff. ChatGPT charges $20 for the advanced version of its service. I fully expect Apple Intelligence to become the industry leader and it won't be cheap to run.
Must be nice to live in such a delusional state of mind. Crapple will be nowhere near the industry leader. Ai is old. As in it’s from the 50’s.

Competitors are lightyears ahead of what Apple is going to offer. They market it as industry leading and sell it as if Cook himself personally created Ai. But it will be ok such. Nothing revolutionary. That was what OpenAI did in 2021.

There is no sharing of your data for free or otherwise. Apple intelligence is designed to run on-device or on an Apple Private Compute server and there is no storage of data or logging or training on those systems. Even if you choose to use the ChatGPT integration, Apple has restricted what OpenAI can do and requires it to purge all of your data after each session.

Why would someone using that hateful slur even register on a site like this?

You - and all those who liked your comment - need to work on your/their reading comprehension, thats NOT what the post states AT ALL. Go back and read it again.

All the people saying “I’m not going to pay for this“ remind me of the people yelling at the Walmart cashier about they won’t ever be back, then you see them in the store the next day.

I really dislike subscriptions on certain things, but if it involves some sort of off device computing or using paid media like music, I can understand it. I’m not going to pay $2.99 a month to access a calendar on my phone. I will pay $9.99 a month for music or access to a powerful computer that could help me.

It’s all about choice. I pay a monthly subscription for music because I like music, but can’t see myself paying a subscription for AI tools at this point. Having seen what Apple are proposing and how it works, I’m at the conclusion I can live without it. If I’m paying a huge amount out for an iPhone already, I don’t want to be further adding to the cost tbh. I doubt it’ll be available in Europe anyway and that makes the decision a bit easier.

Depending on the price but this kinda sucks. Some of the features announced I will use daily. I know this isn’t popular but maybe they should do a grandfathered service. If you sign up and purchase a phone at launch that’s runs AI you are grandfathered in for life. That could help with initial sales. I know it won’t happen but🤷🏾‍♂️

The rumor is not that Apple will charge for any of the features that they have shown. It was a vague statement that, sometime in the future, Apple might decide to charge for some extra AI features. Very low grade rumor.

the article title made it seem a much more certain and immediate concern. Seems a little “baity”.

i'm okay with this since i'm unlikely to actively use these features.

But if these features are the only things that are new with the next generation phones; *and* I have to pay to access them; then i guess i'll keep my 13 another year.

Good to know. Thank you
