Man, this is quite unfortunate. I’m not in the market for an M1 Mac, myself. But I do consult for people and there are multiple clients for whom I am wanting to have upgrade to an M1 Mac. Am hoping it’s merely a matter of Apple releasing either an OS release or a firmware update to address this.

Not a Bluetooth issue, apologies if people think I’m hijacking thread, but my wireless mouse with dongle plugged in to one of the Mac Mini M1 rear USB-A ports keeps suffering from movement lag. I’ve not determined if this is the Corsair gaming mouse issue or if there is a USB-A issue.

Also, I shut down last night and, after a few seconds, the Mini restarted itself. When prompted for my password, the wired Apple keyboard, plugged into the other USB-A port, wouldn’t respond and I noticed some blocky colours flashing on the screen. I’m pretty sure I didn’t select Restart by mistake. I had to switch off the power and restart, and it was ok afterwards.

This isn’t the USB 3 / 2.4Ghz Wi-Fi interference problem again, is it? Because if it is, this has been happening for years. That issue tended to be the fault of poorly shielded peripherals.

Or is this something new?

This happens on my MacBook Pro from late 2012 at least once a day very randomly with both my Apple Magic Mouse and Apple keyboard at almost exactly the same time. Happy to hear it’s also happening on brand new Mac models LOL

Last week I received both M1 Mac Mini (8/256) and a new Apple Mouse and Apple Magic Keyboard. The mouse disconnects/reconnects about 5 times every 10 minutes. The keyboard does not. As a result, I was thinking it might be the new mouse. I still need to test my old wireless mouse to see if it does the same.

Well judging by recent history such as the butterfly keyboard they are more likely to insist nothing is wrong if it is a hardware problem and carry on as normal. More likely though it would be a software problem which they will fix eventually, although even that isn't a given these days with Apple
Apple set up a service program 2.5 years ago for the issue which they described basically as sticking/inconsistent keys, missing keystrokes, multiple keystrokes. They also revised the keyboard every year. That’s hardly carrying on as normal and insisting nothing is wrong. Re-read your Apple history.

I've had similar issues with my MacBook Pro 13-inch Late-2018 model ever since I started using it docked. And I'm using the Apple Magic Wireless Keyboard.

It's not as frequent as this seems to be. But every time something happens and my MacBook Pro does a hard reboot I will have to use the built-in keyboard in order to type in my password. Going in and out of sleep is never a problem, but after installing updates etc. it often happenes.

Haven't had this happen on my Mac mini with Apple M1 yet. But then again, I'm using the Apple Magic Wireless Keyboard and not a Logitech or any other third-party keyboard.

I'm using the Logitech MX Master 3 mouse, but on the Mac mini I'm using the Logitech Unify USB adapter for the mouse. Why would I opt for Bluetooth over Unify? Unify provides better connections and improved battery life. On a MacBook Air or Pro with USB-C only and limited amounts of ports it makes sense to opt for Bluetooth but on the Mac mini, a stationary device with USB-A ports I can't see why Logitech users wouldn't just use the adapter?

I have this issue on an intel machine. Happens all the time.. my bluetooth will just stop functioning and then turn back on. Always happens when I am using AirPods mid sentence on a zoom meeting, like it's timed or some garbage.

No issues with my M1 Mini yet, but my Intel 2018 Mini had this problem (along with plugging in any USB-A external drive causing the WiFi signal to disconnect randomly). Seems to be common with the Minis I think.

Similar issue on my 2020 13" MBP i7. I get several mouse disconnected/connected activities throughout the day. I've switched mice (with my MM2 from my iMac that has never given me issues) and even just yesterday went through the recommended "resets" and it still occurs.

This is a constant Mac OS Issue, not an Apple Silicon issue. Have had this problem for YEARS with various Macs. Try connecting a keyboard, mouse and bluetooth trackpad all through bluetooth. Good luck. I've had to cable at least the trackpad to stop the stuttering and intermittent shutoffs.

It is random and has not been fixed. on ATP Casey talked about it in regards to his iMac Pro a few months back.
The time I had a keyboard issue (it would type late or repeat strokes), it actually got fixed by... SMC reset! (anecdotal evidence that step might work)

For information, I also connect absolutely everything via Bluetooth minus one mouse: full sized magic keyboard, smaller magic keyboard, Magic Mouse, Magic Trackpad, AirPods Pro, Ortho Remote BT wheel control, Wacom BT tablet... and it has worked flawlessly 99.99% of the time. I don’t use them all at the same time though.

Off topic - Are these apple accessories worth the price. I am going to buy the Apple keyboard and trackpad 2. Saw some reviews stating Logitech MX keys is better keyboard although there is no alternative for the trackpad.

I'm having the same BT disconnect issues on my 10th gen intel MBP. Seems related to Big Sur.

I have the magic keyboard with numeric pad and the Magic Mouse 2. I hot swap these between my new M1 MBP and my work 15" 2019 MBP. I also used to use it on my late 2013 iMac which the M1 MBP replaces.

On all 3 devices I have seen constant disconnect issues randomly. My new M1 MBP is no different than the other two Macs.

As for Big Sur, both other devices are on Catalina and I have not tried them with Big Sur.

I have the same issue with AirPod pros and MacBook Air m1. The nice thing is that if it’s a real problem Apple will fix it. Whether software or hardware they will make it right.

My old iMac disconnects from the magic mouse once every few days, but I usually attribute it to loose batteries (too much play between batteries and door). If I had the problems described here with constant disconnects of BT and WiFi through, what, like 10 generations of Macbooks(?), I don't think I would be using a Mac anymore. It's not something I could tolerate, especially after paying a premium price. And yet, here I am, still weighing the purchase of a new M1 Mini...

I am seeing wireless disconnect for no reason, but need to evaluate more before I know it is an issue.
Well that's not an M1 thing - my 2019 MBP 15" does it all the time, and it drives me insane. Its on AppleCare, Appled looked at it last week and said its fine.

Only Bluetooth devices I use are AirPods and a pair of Beats Studios. Never have a problem with either on my phone or TV, but on my M1 Air, it occasionally drops signal and then comes right back.

I've been having bluetooth problems on every Mac and PC i've ever owned. Things work most of the time but every once a while my mouse/keyboard/headphones will just struggle to stay connected. I suspect it's more of the same bluetooth problems than an issue with the M1 itself.
