Used to work at Apple and have many friends who still do. Have been told by many people that they will NOT have them in stores for sale on the 10th, but available to try out. They SHIP the 10th, meaning apple will most likely get them retail the following days.

I doubt it. Everything says it goes on sale April 10th. Apple stores could probably have them in stores right now if they wanted.

I don't see this happening since they had a month to prepare for the release.

But it is what happened earlier this month with the new MBAs. We expected them in stores as soon as they went up on the store web site, but it took a couple of days. I'm not predicting, just observing that this could be true.

Called the local Denver, CO store and asked;

"We will have them April 10th."

I'm assuming in 2015!

;)

Hey, at least they didn't say they'd have them on April 1st... ;)

Here's hoping. If I take the plunge, I'd rather have the weekend to set the thing up.

What you describe happens when an existing model gets updated at an Apple event. They're "available today" from Apple's website, but it usually takes until the evening after the event before the first stocks get into the Apple store.

The 2012 MBAs were announced on June 11th and I picked mine up an hour before the store closed on June 12th.

I assume you're right, and that'd be great. Q: what sort of schedule do you suppose Best Buy and other authorized dealers will be on? The USPS BB coupon is worth at least $130 on this machine and that might be worth waiting a couple of days for.

Interesting post from the OP. However, I have spoken with all three Apple stores the Northern Virginia/DC area and all three have clearly stated the shipment will arrive on the 9th and they will have the device for sale on the 10th.

Has anyone asked what models/versions they will have in-store for purchase on April 10th?

Does this include Montgomery Mall? (My choice of :apple: Store :) )

Well, if I choose to get one I'll wait a month anyway to make sure there are no major defects.

Not me, what if they sell out of the gold ones? That will be the one everyone wants because its so different. I'm getting a gold one. If they would print or even engrave the size of the SSD on the lid - I would spurge for 512 upgrade!

Has anyone considered a little LED light that clips on the lid to shine on the now dark Apple logo? That would be a fantastic $99.00 accessory in the Apple store. Is anyone going to cover theirs in a Speck case? I plan on being in line at 6:00am on the 10th! :eek:

It sounds like you only care about what the MacBook looks like?
