I'm having charging issues with Apple's own charger and power adapter. Damn watch wouldn't charge whether its on the new fast charge-capable charger or the older charger. Part of me thinks it might be related to bug with fast charging since it predominantly affects Series 7 models and some Series 6 models (which supports slightly faster charging speeds vs older models).
I must be on the lucky side as I have had no problems with my series 7.

I’ve been having charging issues on my Apple Watch series 7 with the Apple desk charger stand thing. Last two days I woke up and the watch didn’t charge at all overnight even though it was on the charger and showing the charging face.

A new issue for me is that, in nightstand mode, the watch will correctly show the time while it starts charging, at let's say 22:00 23:00 and then in the middle of the night and early am, ( after reaching 100%) it is off and comes on with the enter your pin keypad, rather than showing the nightstand mode time.
Apple Watch 4 and official puck.

One fix is join the beta program and upgrade to 8.4. My Watch 7 has 8.4. I don’t have charging issues.

So everyone here is arguing official charger or not, but what I'm not hearing is what the charger is plugged into. Apple is saving the world not including charging bricks but that's part of the charging process as well. I am having issues with my Series 7 and its plugged into one of my Anker nightstand banks. Never used a third party watch cable but almost always I use a USB bank for charging. The idea that Apple thinks everyone has a plug for their short cables is always laughable. The banks I use have long cables so that I have USB ports right on my nightstand with various cables usually all Anker with the exception of the watch cable. I may try to use one of my new Ravpower banks tomorrow see if it helps. Anker has fallen behind with a decent bank with more than one Type C with decent Wattage.

Interestingly enough, both my parents mentioned that their S.5 watches weren't charging properly and the timing does line up with this...

Have you tried a hard reset by holding down the digital crown and power button for 10 seconds? Try that first and see if that rectifies the infrequency.

Have the same issue… reported it to apple like the day i upgraded… support had no clue as of yet…
Found at home one 3rd party charger with which i can charge my series 4, but the original cable (2 of them) are some 1700 kms from my place back in my hometown….
Forgot them there when i was on holidays ??‍♂️??‍♂️

The night before last night my series 7 partially charged, was 83% in the morning. Last night it had partly charged by 6am, but completed after another 2 hours or so. Watch OS 8.3. Official Apple Charger.

Wont help.. i started with the same.. (used to work for iOS support).
Only thing i was lazy to do was wipeing it and setting it up as new…
Found a charger at home whith which i can charge for now…
But 3rd party chargers seem to be “disabled” for now… starts charging, then it just stops like 5 mins after…

I've experienced this. I didn't make the connection to the update until I saw this article, but the timing definitely checks out.

I have been having issues since 8.3 where my series 7 takes roughly 2 hours to charge from 30% on a MagSafe Duo (20 Watt adapter).

I’ve been experiencing some odd battery/charging behavior on my Series 5. I hate to be one of those people, but watchOS 8 kinda sucks.
