i have the same one and I am having issues on Series 6
Interesting... hmmm... I am using a 3rd party 100w 6ft usb-c cable connected to Apple's 18w USB-C charger to power my dock. Not sure if that is making any sort of difference or not.

Watch OS 8.3 updated - I have a AW6, it won't charge fully. After connecting to the Apple charging disc it only charges up a few percent.
In two days of endlessly re-connecting it has reached 66% only.

I DID notice this one. Third party charger puck with "dumb" but high quality 5 port anker power supply = not charging after a couple minutes. Swapped out with a PD anker charger and it finally charged.

I spoke at length with Apple Support today, and this is a known issue with engineering and they are working on it. That was all I got about it. They admitted the issue manifests at different levels of severity and frustrations, but it is software-based and hopefully a fix will be pushed out in the next week.

Thanks for posting this. I was somewhat nervous this was a more isolated problem than appears here (or that it wasn't going to be fixed) since my message in the feedback report still shows no other reports of similar problems.

Thanks from me as well for this post.

I'm not sure when my issues started, I think it was prior to the 8.3 release, but it's been a problem that's plagued me for most of the time since I got my new series 7 on launch day. My series 6 was flawless, I could put it on the charger next to my bed each night and be confident that the following morning that it would be at 100% charge and would last the whole day. With my series 7 though it's a total crap shoot as to whether I'll take the watch off the charger in the morning with a 100% charge or whether I'll find that it hasn't charged at all overnight so I'll get the 10% power warning about half an hour into my day and have to go and put it on a charger for half an hour or so. It's really frustrating and seems to happen about 1 night out of every 3 or 4 nights. Every night I am really careful now to make sure it does seat properly on the charger and that the display does show that it is charging but that doesn't guarantee it will carry on charging through the night, some nights it seems to stop charging shortly after it is put on the stand and drain power overnight rather than charging back to 100%. I don't own any 3rd party chargers, the only chargers I have are the series 6 USB-A one and the series 7 USB-C one that came with my s6 & s7 watches and I get the same charging failures on both chargers.

At least as far as my issues go it certainly feels like a software bug to me so it's good to hear Apple confirm that. I tried turning off smart charging in case that might be getting confused and be what is stopping the charging but that hasn't stopped the problem. It will be a big relief when they roll out an update that does fix this bug.

Same thing happened today to my series 4 charging with the original cable and power brick. Said it was charging but wouldn't gain charge (the percentage was sitting still). Tried a different charger (also original apple) but wouldn't work. It was also getting warm. Tried factory reset, nothing (also lost a bit of charge). Thought it was hardware for sure. I tried plugging it into my MacBook (through a usb a to usb c adapter mind you) and it finally worked... Any idea if this has been fixed in the latest watchOS beta?

Yes, the problem seems to be fixed with the latest beta. I believe the RC was released last week so early next week the fix should go public.

Just noticed that I’ve still very much got this issue. Had to put watch on charger 3 times as after few minutes it would stop.

Running 8.4.2 on series 7

I never had issues charging my series 3…it’s sad that something newer misses the mark on something so simple. It’s been more than a handful amount of times that I’ve set it on my official Apple charger only to check hour(s) later and it hasn’t been charged. Really?

This started happening on my series 7 watch on not one, but 2 different, Apple watch chargers; I put it on charger at night, the circle with bolt appears and, in the morning when I wake, the battery level is lower than when I went to bed. Happens sporadically, seems like since watchOS update to 8.7.

This might not be a fix for everyone, but i found out the Watch has the Optimized Charging feature, i disabled that & my Watch Series 3 seems to charge just fine now.

So disable that & see if that fixes things.

This was fixed for my series 6 but after updating to 9.0 it's back. Constantly showing the charge animation - going into night stand mode - then dropping out of night stand mode, repeating every few minutes. Watch did charge overnight but this can't be good for the watch :(

9.0 brought this bug back for me too...unbelievable lol watch is charging super slow again
