I have an Apple Watch Series 7 with original charger and plugged into a 3rd party brick and running 8.3 Beta 1 no issues. The issue at hand for some users is reasons why I use Apple only chargers. When I had an iPhone 7 and 8 and used third party chargers it would brick my phone, could do anything also would send it in a loop if I factory reset it. So from then on I told myself I would only use Apple products with Apple products.

OEM charger cable & iPhone 8 wallwort, s7 Nike edition: burning through battery and overnight charging not working as well ⚠️ Was working perfectly. Fast(er) charging on a 18w iPad wallwort works fine when topping off, after realizing that the overnight charge didn’t work. Happy joy joy.

I'm waiting to see an article about "some airpods max users experiencing major battery drain since the newest firmware" Seriously. My airpods can't last more than 2 hours off the charger anymore.

I'm not having any issues charging my WatchOS 8.3 Series 5 on a 3rd party dock with a built-in charger. This is the dock I'm using.

This is not a new problem, I’ve had it since 8.2
the issue seems to occur when the watch is under 10% battery, and occurs with all my Apple chargers

as mentioned in the article , power cycling the watch fixes the isssue … until the next time

Charging via any of the dual cables with lightning and watch on one USB experiences this issue. Charging via a USB battery instead of wall power increases issues, 35% > 50% charging overnight. Both worked fine for months. Needs dedicated OEM cable with Apple iPhone USB wall adapter for best reliability. Series 7 owner.

I have the same issue with the official Apple charging cable and charger combination with my Series 6 stainless steel. Interesting is that the aluminium puck which came with my ss apple watch is less reliable than the plastic puck I got from my friend who destroyed his aluminium series 5.

can confirm. My 7 wont charge on our 3rd party charger, but works fine on Apple's charger. My wife's 7 has not been upgraded and charges fine on the 3rd party charger.

We normally use 3rd party when charging overnight, where speed doesn't matter and use the Appls chargers when travelling.

Can confirm. Apple Watch series 6 on 8.3 with third party charger doesn’t charge the watch more than a minute or two.

At first I thought it was the charger’s fault bc I just got it but my watch was always at 8.3 when using it, so this makes sense now. Charges just fine on my original charger though.

Glad it’s not just me!

You did read all the people with Apple chargers having the same problem? Has nothing to do with Apple vs 3rd party.

I’ve been complaining in forums and Apple Support about this for a week. Series 6 watch charged perfectly before 8.3. After, only Apple branded chargers work reliably. My favorite third party charger is useless until there is a patch.

Series 3 owner here - have this issue with 8.3 watch OS and using Apple's official charger (short USB-C puck from Apple) I bought years ago. Now my watch is completley drained and I have no clue how to get it up and running again.

I had this exact issue happen with my Series 5 after a software update. I took it into an Apple store and was told my battery and charge status were all fine. Waited around talking with the guy for a few additional minutes and he was able to observe my watch stopped charging. Still wouldn’t help (I didn’t pay even more money for Apple Care, and there was no defect code for him to tap) and told me I’d have to pay $350 to ship it off and look at it/possibly repair it. For something that started happening after a software update.

I use my watch daily to track workouts and it really helps motivate me. The charging issue got progressively worse and was never fixed through a software update. So I caved and traded in an otherwise perfectly fine Series 5 for a Series 7.

I’m very annoyed to read this to say the least. So far my watch is charging though. *knocks on wood*

Every time my AW7 Cellular running 8.1 finishes charging correctly (yet again), Apple suggests that I install watchOS 8.3. Yeah right…. like I’m going to take that risk:(

Edit: I’m using the cable that came with my AW7 with a RavPower 65w wallwart.

If people are going to make posts saying they have no issues then it would be prudent for those people to identify what charger block they are using (also lead if using a different lead) because not everyone uses the charger that came with the watch.
