I don't get it, when you boil it doesn't water get in the phone? Do you switch the phone off first?

Yeah, boiling plastic always shrinks it.

That's why you're always having to replace your plastic stir spoons/cooking utensils -- they shrink & shrink with each use until only little people can grasp them.

They take the shrunken utensils & make earrings out of them:
