Hmmm... 8/12 cores....wow...
That means 4/6 cores are not in demand compared to 8/12 cores according to what you said.

Would this mean 4/6 cores are the ones that could be shipped more earlier?

No. The only units that moved quickly are the stock 4 and 6 core models.

I spoke to apple today, and got the 5-7 more business days line, but free expedited shipping. I'll have waited between 8-9.5 wks for my 6 core, 1TB, D700.

Mine Just Shipped

If anyone is interested in timing of orders. I ordered back on January 6th. I just got a 4 core, but added the D700's, & 1TB SSD. It shipped February 26th. Luckily I wasn't in a hurry to get it, but I was starting to wonder if it would ship by February.

Same here

Ordered my MP on Jan 2nd - still not here. They have completely billed my credit card - but the order says shipping to store. I'm not optimistic that it will arrive tomorrow.

I sure hope it turns out to be worth the wait.

Okay. I couldn't care less who you trust. Once these things become more prevalent it'll be a known problem.

Been reading through this thread and I am genuinely curious about your apparent hatred of the new MP as well as your obvious disdain for anyone who would buy one. Are you a long time apple fan and just angry about the direction? Have you been keeping current with apple products and now feel that they have put you in a dead end with no way to recoup the thousands you have spent on software?

Just curious.

Dam that sucks for people. I just got mine on Tuesday.. I haven't played with it much as I'm in the market for a monitor.
I need suggestions!!! I'm looking at the asus pa279q.

I hope that apple is comping those people who haven't gotten their machines in the February time slot.

Yeah, just received the call stating that there will be some sort of comp. told me to call back when I receive the computer. Will keep this updated when I find out what it could be.

Dear Macrumors:

This is why we need the downvote back

You know what would be sweet? If the more down votes a post receives, the lighter the shade of text it would get until it was barely legible.

Pretty sure some Guy with a nMP ran off with his girlfriend and now he hates everything about the nMP.;)

I have been watching these threads to see if people complain about the new mac pros.

A huge number of people have said that they would pay more for American made products. Apparently, while they may not cost that much more, they take a lot longer to make. Or at least to ramp up production.

Just goes to show you that maybe there is more to building things in China than access to cheap workers.

Indeed, with so many production lines for so many companies there, things must be greatly optimized for huge production numbers.

I also think that the people willing to pay more for American-made products, are not that willing to wait more for American-made products :p

I ordered mine Jan 2 and it just showed up yesterday Feb 26. 6 Core, 1TB, 32GB, Dual AMD FirePro D500-3GB VRAM. It's a monster!

That's identical to the one I ordered, but I ordered it 18 days after you did. That gives me a fair idea of how behind they are for this config. Thanks!

Made in america......quality but slow!

Should let China handle it and they would've done it faster.

Sorry , it was perfect !

Mine just shipped but the tracking number does not work. UPS says there's such shipment.

Did anyone have that same problem?

So it is not "high demand" after all, but simply a cluster**** in their production line?

You mean, as in "even more cheap workers"?

FACT:

Limited GPU design with already ancient cards. No expandable storage except for overly expensive TB. Pathetic PSU. Poor thermal design that forces the computer to massively slow down.

And why are you posting in this forum..?

You seem like you are outright trying to argue that a specific device that a seemingly large number of people have purchased is horrible.

Go build a gaming PC and get off this site in general if all you are here to do is spew off negative comments in a poor attempt to gain attention.

I ordered a 6 core, 1 TB, D700, 64 GB back in 12/23 and its suppose to arrive Monday 3/3

Go to the Mac Pro forum and look at any tests where the computer has to run at full throttle for any length of time.

I just did and I didn't find any posts complaining of heat issues. If people are having those problems, they are complaining about it without using any of the words you'd expect to find in a search. Either you're lazy or those posts don't exist. Link please?

Can't argue with the facts I've posted.

Saying something doesn't make it true.

Apple announcing product availability and taking orders months before they could actually deliver it in any quantity.

Months? Didn't they announce availability and start taking orders until late December? Would it have been better if they spent this time stockpiling machines and didn't start shipping any until March?

That means 4/6 cores are not in demand compared to 8/12 cores according to what you said.

Or intel is supplying more of the 4/6 than the 8/12. That wouldn't be surprising with a new line of chips.

So it is not "high demand" after all, but simply a cluster**** in their production line?

Nobody outside of Apple knows, the discussion here is all speculation.

Got a call from apple this morning saying they won't able to ship in February as initially promised, another 5-7 days, ordered on the 19th December , 6 core, 512, 32gb ram, D700. UK order .

Apple called me yesterday, too. I ordered January 10th and live in Minnesota. Chomping at the bit to get it since I have work to do with it but impressed that they called me personally to let me know it was going to be a little later than promised. That's the service I pay extra for. :)

Comp? What comp? I missed the original call and talked to a rep on the general My Apple line and he didn't mention a comp for being late...

yes, it would. don't start taking orders till you can actually fill them without making people wait 3+ months. I ordered on January 8 and my estimated shipping date is end of April (was promised to be February first). how in the world is that reasonable?! they delayed the launch as much as they could so as not to formally break the promise of 2013 launch but were clearly not ready to deliver in numbers at the time. they shipped a few machines in December but the shipping dates very quickly slipped to february and even those dates are not being kept. they obviously have some production issues but that being the case they should have delayed the launch till those issues were fixed.
