I have no texting plan either. I have Send as SMS turned off, yet somehow I still had three sent as a text. Good luck trying to get my $0.60 back from Apple.

iMessage hasn't been working right for me at all the past week or so. I don't realize the text never sent. Then a few days later the text finally sends, which creates confusion. I do have it set to change it to a text if iMessage can't send, but iOS doesn't realize it never went through.

This has been going on forever. I just shut off iMessgae... hates the failures.

OH BTW I fix my iMessage hangs and Siri hangs by doing a hard restart. Hold how sleep and home button until you see an Apple Logo. It will start working after that. You will have to repeat once it starts to fail again.

Oh my, the drama! I mean, just send it as a TEXT, it's a default, duh. Yea, I know, not from an ipad or mac, but BFD. What's up with the PERFECTION expectations people? Deal.

That's not much good if you're using an iPod/iPad or one of your recipients is though.

Mine has gone dead and my data over att has gone to 0mbs. Now I'm definitely going to Verizon. Hopefully iMessage will be fixed soon.

I turned off iMessage on my phone after a couple days of texts were missing from people who kept telling me they've been texting me.

Just wait until everyone starts linking their phone numbers to their Apple IDs on Wednesday. The number of iMessages sent is going to go through the roof.

I at first wanted this as it's a great negative the current design. However, now I hope there is a way to not enable this connection? I often loan my iPad to others to use, and I prefer my personal messages not appear on the iPad at all.

I guess I could just turn off messages on the iPad?

iMessage Outage

Seems to work w/in North America, but going to Europe it's stuck since 2:40 EDT

Mine is working a little slow, but they are getting delivered. To slow to keep my sexting going on with this girl from russia.

Yet more failures from the crap cloud.

Give it up Apple. Focus on what you're good at and let Google take care of the online services...because you suck as it.

This has been happening to me for the past month on and off.

iPhone 4 with 5.1.1 on Straight Talk (AT&T)

It's these stupid-assed "group" messaging chats people are entangled in.

I was sitting with my 2 kids the other day and all I heard were their freaking iPhones bleeping away every 10 seconds.

Who started this crap?

I don't know why you're all bashing iCloud... Although, I am experiencing this right now, I've never had a problem with it. Plus, this service is free and a newborn... It'll only get better. Relax people... We have bigger fish to worry about... starting with not re-electing Obama =)

Been having trouble since late saturday night EST. Use it a lot because of spotty service at home.

When issue occurs, send message to contact as regular SMS message and then send subsequent messages as iMessage message.

Do this per contact. This seems to work for me.

Apple is systematically causing issues on the iPhone 4 and 4S - will release a press statement saying the iMessage network has been upgraded and is so advanced that it is not reliable on that outdated hardware and that you should purchase the iPhone 5 to resolve the issue.

You do not have to link the IDs. You could even disable iMessage completely on your iPad in Settings by removing the ID it is associated with.

iMessage seems to be working fine for me now, just sent a message and it delivered almost instantly - maybe I got lucky!

It maybe a coincidence but I was just having this same problem about an hour ago, and did a reset for my iPhone 4, and it's working again.
Hope that helps.
