Apple's servers are just being massively slow at the moment, trying to download iTunes 7 update and it's going at around 50KB/s (My line maxes at around 600KB/s)
Also downloading an app is doing the same thing, massive pain in the ass :(

Well...

'2012' even Apple has failed rollouts with shiny new data centers. In all seriousness, how is this front page news?

Because it's really annoying for those of us already used to the iMessage iPhone/Mac compatibility.

iMessage is absolutely ****. It just doesn't work properly.

I face issues with iMessage everyday. :/

I have to agree, I have been experiencing difficulties for a couple of weeks now. And you would think it would default back to SMS but for some reason it hasn't on my 4S. Frustrating to say the least.

I'm surprised this issue hasn't made bigger headlines. This is all tied to Apple ID confusion. From .Mac to MobileMe to iCloud and finding out your iTunes Apple ID is not the same as your MobileMe account, so you can have a phone number tied to one ID and an email address tied to another. So I ended up with iMessages that don't make it to all devices as they should or appearing in separate conversation threads. It's really screwy when you have two Apple users trying to message each other. Oh and will they ever fix FaceTime? When my fellow-Apple-user friend contacts me via FaceTime, most of the time it does not connect on the first try and often times not at all. We try restarting our phones, which we think helps sometimes. And sometimes my laptop will ring when my friend tries to FaceTime me, instead of my phone. It's erratic behavior. Hopefully this will finally be cleared up when we can merge the phone number with the email address that is tied to the Apple ID.

Oh my, the drama! I mean, just send it as a TEXT, it's a default, duh. Yea, I know, not from an ipad or mac, but BFD. What's up with the PERFECTION expectations people? Deal.

Some of us don't have a texting plan and texts cost money and have gotten used to still being able to text cause it comes off as an imessage so no charge.

NOt the worst thing in the world but still an annoyance (especially when your friends have text so they don't think to check to see if the text box is blue or green when they send you one).

indeed

My iMessage is not working here in Sweden either. Why don´t they just shut it down temporary, so that the phones sends sms instead?

iMessage isn't working for me, but texts are going through just fine. Overall, iMessage needs major work

Damn! If only there was some other way to communicate with people.

Well, I had great fun today learning that iMessage stopped working. Sent a few texts over to my friend, who's currently in Italy. It's an easy, quick solution, and it's free!

Checked my phone an hour later, and my hopeful blue texts were now in the dreaded green. I shudder to think what my tight-fisted carrier is going to charge me for that. :(

On another note, I've very rarely experienced iMessage to actually work consistently -- it seems to not work when you least want it to, like when you're sending a photo. I wish there was an option where you could select it to 'iMessage' only, as it always defaults back to sending it as a text.

My iP4S just failed to send a message to my wife. I resent as text & it went right through. Happened to click over here & saw this article.

Not good for people like my mom or wife who are not tech savvy & are now going to be freaking out because they have no idea why their texts are not going though.

Solution...

A workaround to get iMessage working again...

Go to 'Settings' > 'Messages'

Turn iMessage off, then on (will require you to enter your Apple ID password).

It took mine a few moments to get activated, but it resolved the problem for me.

My iMessages have been going through quickly. Can't confirm if they're being received, but it's showing delivered under the message.

I've always had issues with iMessage. It hangs when trying to send a lot and some times I have to switch it off so the message actually sends.

Love iMessage - it's the messages being in sync with my iPhone, iPad & iMac that makes it so great.

Can't wait to be able to associate my phone number with iPad/iPhone on Wednesday.

then quit complaining

huh? when did i complain. i'll start now ... sry that i expect a service to work properly and its my right to "complain" when its down but whatever

this always happens at my parents house for some reason. i dont get any push through on my iPhone for that matter, yet it works just fine on my mac and iPad. i think its an issue with their router cuz it works on any other wifi ive been to and sends perfectly fine once i turn off wifi
