today iMessage is horrible. Many of my messages were delayed.

Me, my girlfriends, and other friends had to use Line and Whatsapp...

I hope this will be fixed soon..:D

Blackberry Messenger

Apple needs to hire the engineers behind BBM, I know it had a big outage last year, but it always was up. iMessage is super-unreliable (and I love Apple)

Well it guess it hasn't been solved yet. Mine started working again earlier but now it's down again. I've missed at least 2 messages so far....

iMessage is absolutely ****. It just doesn't work properly.

I face issues with iMessage everyday. :/

That's what I used to think. It was never working for me. It's perfectly fine now, but it doesn't work on my Mac (Snow Leopard), so I'm still using AIM.

It's embarrassing when Microsoft, Apple, Google, and Facebook can't make a messaging system better than that dinosaur AOL. It's so simple! Yet nobody matches AIM's universal compatibility and nice features like file sending, AV chat, screen sharing, inline images, and invisible status.

I wonder what the cause of all these iMessage/iCloud outages is? If Apple wants to be seen as a viable brand in business they need to fix these issues. I sometimes get iMessages from friends emails and also their numbers because they also use iMessage on their Mac. Other times, iMessages appear and then disappear, making me wonder if I read things correctly or just imagining.

No worries with the iPhone 5.
When iMessage fails, it will default to an S3 and send a regular text.

D.

No matter what happens, I'm going to avoid sending SMS. Why pay money for something that's free?

iMessage is supposed to be a way to ease into the cutting out of SMS, so it uses a phone number. It's a bit confusing, especially if you have more than one device using the same account. When iMessage first came out, it also had trouble identifying my friends' iPhones as iPhones, so it didn't allow me to send to them. This has since been resolved (at least for me). As for the second issue, I don't know what's going on.

Whatever, I'm all for anything that bites SMS, or should I say $M$! What a scam! I don't care if the universal messaging system is made by Microsoft as long as it's not SMS (and not another paid service).

I also had this issue earlier today, several iMessages were stuck with the white progress Send bar nearly complete then stalling during the middle of the day.

Not sure if it's coincidence, but beginning with when I was having the problem this afternoon, all my iMessages to other phone numbers now show up on my iPad. Just as if I had sent them from there. Looks like apple was implementing the change to merge multiple iMessage addresses. Thank god!

I thought it was based on AIM

my gf and I are in kinda bad mood last few days,
thanks to iMsg this whole thing excel to STAR WARS level!
"why did you not replying to my txt msgs???!!"
"Not you are *******"
abobe are the last words I got from my beloved angry babe....

again, thank you ! Mr Cook
imsg switched off

I've been having problems with iMessage for the last few weeks.

I'm on Verizon with at least 4 bars every time. Messages won't send, and the status bar will sit at 90% until it times out and displays the error message.

It is really frustrating.

iMessage hasn't been working for me at all for 24 hours.

Always says recipient doesn't exist.

Fix for those still having problems

Go into settings/General/Reset and then reset network settings. You will have to re-add your wifi if you have one.

According to reports on the MacRumors Forums and on Twitter, Apple's iMessage SMS-replacement service is currently experiencing some sort of system outage.

Users are experiencing difficulties with delayed messages, messages completely failing to send, as well as read receipt notification errors. The problem is intermittent and not universal, but given the high-profile that Apple places on the service -- it's enabled by default on every iOS device -- any sort of outage is going to affect many users.

We've emailed Apple for comment and a timeline for a resolution, but have yet to hear back.

Update: iMessage appears to be working again for many.

I get this all the damn time when I'm using messages from my macs.
I sometimes have to send a message 3-4 times just to get it to send, on the other hand my iPhones send messages fine.
I've had the problem with messages since the beta.

Maybe they will fix the poor reception on the iPhone next. This way I can have call where I don't need to redial the number 3 times every time I need to talk to people.

So far, this morning and early afternoon, I have not been able to send any iMessages. They are all being sent immediately as text messages. I did not have any issues yesterday.
