Seriously, the Echo Plus set up so easy it was like butter. Reminded me of how Apple stuff used to set up 8 years ago. Apple has their fingers in too many pies right now. Especially this spaceship campus business has to be very disruptive to engineering teams.

This legitimately concerns me because I have to change my WiFi passwords soon. Anyone have any suggestions to go about doing that without having to nuke my home and re-add every. single. device. ?

That's the major Achilles heal of all networked smart home devices (Belkin Wemo included). If the wifi password gets changed, everything stops working & you've got to start from scratch setting everything up over again. It can take hours (or more than a day when things go wrong). Guaranteed frustration.

If you change your WiFi password, you'll be prompted by PCs, phones & tablets to enter in the new one. I suspect for HomePod/Echo type devices you'll have to go into the companion app and do that?

I don't have a problem redoing my PCs and iOS devices. It's more the Hue, Ecobee, iHome stuff that I'm worried about. I don't want to lose my scenes, basically.

Ugh. Thanks for the heads up. I guess I'll do that this weekend rather than tonight.

While setup was a breeze, the darn thing hasn’t functioned properly for the last two days. Siri keeps stalling and eventually times out no matter the request.
“Hey, Siri turn off bedroom lamp”
“Working on it...”
“I’m having some trouble with this...”
Etc.
Even setting up an alarm causes Siri to stall. I’ve reset the HomePod once so depending on what happened today I may reset once more, otherwise back to Best Buy it goes.

I was just about to lay down some cash for a HomePod, then discovered that apparently it won't work in an enterprise network. I'm living in university accommodation with access only to an enterprise network. I guess I'm SOL, unless somebody can tell me how to get it to work.

maybe you can airplay to it from your phone? at my job, we can airplay to the Apple TV in the conference room- no WIFI needed.

I actually see this as a user issue, sort of. I would be willing to bet that these issues stem from either not being on the correct OS or not having the necessary apps installed. Apple gave people the option to remove stock apps and that obviously causes some issues. At the same time, Apple needs to figure out a way that doesn't make setting up a completely separate product so reliant on these details. I mean, they know their users, I am sure this stuff came up prior to release. Anyway, still a black eye on the sake of Apple.

Why, oh why, do some feel it necessary to post this? It's not like EVERYONE is having connection issues. I've never understood it.

I don't think this makes those having issues feel any better.

Did you feel you needed to post this? Does not "Some HomePod Owners Still Plagued With Setup Issues" mean that some owners have issues and others (like you) don't?

We live in a free world, at least here on MR, they can say what they want besides some (decent) rules.

HomePods are impossible to set up, and they damage your priceless antique wooden furniture. They are nothing but vehicles of destruction, they will destroy your home. #ResistHomePods

its not I repeat the homepod having issues, its the stupid HomeKit, mines been broken with that error loading so weeks and apple can't fix it and cos my home app doesn't work I get that error on the homepod using my girlfriends Apple ID works fine so my iCloud has corrupted HomeKit and no way to reset it even apple can't so its useless I have left the page for 3 hours and no reset button shows so I have to return my homepod and go for sonos one, iOS 9 had a homekit reset button and iOS 10 and 11 they have removed it so its server side with your Apple ID its so annoying
