I've actually had it happen to my old 1st Gen iPad Air. It was just a month or so ago... scared the bejeezus out of me (thought it was dead!).

Happened with my iPhone 4 on iOS 4, it randomly went dead when in my pocket. Apparently people were ringing me but it wouldn't vibrate and I wasn't aware because it just looked bricked. I was in a state of near-sobs as I thought my pretty little phone had given up the ghost already. Tried holding to turn off without any luck.

Boy did I feel like an idiot when I figured out how easy a hard reset was - and how it immediately fixed the problem.

Just really a quick reminder to other forum members that this sort of stuff isn't really new. And I'm sure many 3G users can tell you about a plethera of bugs on OS 2 (at least going on what my friends at the time were saying, while I was stoically defending my cheap Nokia-brick).

Steve Jobs was right all along. He believed a company should focus on a few products and do them very well.

However, he wanted to expand his vision into watches, cars, and the home. He put forth plans to build a bigger, better campus. He knew he would need more people. More great people.

It all makes sense. Apple doesn't have the staff to expand his vision. You can't have a team of 130 software engineers create OSX, iOS, tvOS, watchOS, music, CarPlay, HomeKit, research kit, iWork apps, pro apps, etc.

Since Lion we have greatly seen how hindered Apple is with frequent software releases filled with bugs and such. Apple needs more developers. More testers.

Apple can't continue down this track much longer without hurting its reputation.

I hope once the campus is complete and they triple their staff we will once again see great things....stable.

To me, El Capitan has been the best OS update since Snow Leopard. Blazingly fast, zero problems since mid August and the fan never runs. Don't see things getting worse.

...except when the 10.11.2 beta 2 completely destroyed my system. ;) Restored my backup of 10.11.1 and not a beta user anymore.

Not a new issue. This is the same issue in the iPhone forums people are having with their phones. Has been going on since iOS 9. It appears the iPad Pro is now part of that list.

Don't worry...when Tim comes to say something about this...that's when he'll announce iPad pro 2.

Happened to me, took it to the Geniuses. They didn't have a clue, going back today.
You probably going to waste again your precious time. Either they are going to ask you to restore it and if nothing works they don't have a solution. Unless you decide to return the item and wait until there a solution. Nobody knows if this is a hardware or software issue. You just hope it's software and wait for the solution. If it's hardware it may take awhile before they'll announce a recall. Apple will probably will just keep denying before announcing a recall. Good luck!

I have experienced this issue as well. I have the 128GB wi-fi only version

Edit: I did NOT restore from iCloud. It was set up as a new device

This just proves that it doesn't matter who makes the product. When the company release a brand new product, it will have it's share of problems. Surface Book has software problems too. This is why it's better to wait a few months for companies to iron out the problems.

Yup. I now wait 3 months before considering the purchase. I don't care much if I'm behind in tech.

I'm really thinking it could be an issue with iOS 9. I wonder if these iPad Pros had similar symptoms like hot home button
