Happened to me, took it to the Geniuses. They didn't have a clue, going back today.
In defense to them, the stores did not even know it was coming in to go on sale last week. The secretive nature with which Apple employs used to work, now; not so much.

Angela seems to be asleep at the switch. Oh, and about those pencils that did not make the launch....

I've only had this happen when I have my pencil docked in the lightning port.

HA! Who am I kidding, I don't have a pencil. But since I upgraded to 9.2 Beta I have not had this problem either so I am sure a fix is coming soon.

It's not a great year for Apple!

On the one hand, they launched so many products this year. On the other hand, all of them were not ready for release.

The Apple Watch should've been shipped with OS2!
The iPhone 6S shipped with iOS9, which was horrible and absolutely not ready with tons of bugs. Let alone the chip scandal. I'm not even mentioning bad quality control of the screen panels.
The Apple TV 4th gen shipped with no support for Remote App. Seriously? I can't even use a different language on YouTube app now. I have to use the app on my phone and then AirPlay it. It's not how it's supposed to work...

Now this...

It looks like all the money that the company has now is gradually destroying it. All the top managers are making way too much, thus have become very complacent.

I've had this issue on my iPhone at least two different times - once with iOS 8 and again with iOS 9 - once with a 6+ and again with a 6S+.

No issues here, but I setup as NEW. I never restore from any kind of backup. It sucks setting up as new, but worth it in the end, since I'll have it for at least a year ;)

Not a new issue. This is the same issue in the iPhone forums people are having with their phones. Has been going on since iOS 9. It appears the iPad Pro is now part of that list.
True. I was asked by my next door neighbor to look at her iPad 2 that had the same symptoms and it required a hard reboot. So I'm guessing this is a iOS 9 problem not a type of hardware problem. It seems to be affecting phones and iPad of all types.

I can't believe after ALL THESE YEARS, we have to use the product "from new" to get the damn thing working right.
Yeezus Apple, get that fundamental things RIGHT!

Yeah, much better to buy a Windows box and be so inundated with issues that you don't even know where to start complaining... :p

Keep telling yourself that, I am the only one here with osx and I have more problems than all of the windows 10 boxes together. Windows is getting better and apple getting worse, the bad thing is it will be a couple of years before I change computers.

No idea why all of the early adopter comments as this bug has been around for a long time. I have had occasional calls from customers who have iPhones and iPads which all appeared to be dead after charging or just in general and a reboot fixes them. This has been happening since iOS 5 if not before. It does seem to happen more often nice iOS 9 though. Thinking about it, it also happens to Macs, when they don't 'wake up' and just sit on a black screen, haha.

Happened every morning before I returned mine.

Decided the iPP is really not for me anyway, I shouldn't have gone there.

What issues do you have with OS X? I live in a windows world and I run 3 Macs all with 10.11 and I have Zero issues, and they run a wide variety of software including Adobe CC and multiple windows VM's.

3rd gen is the sweet spot.
Like the iPad 3rd Gen which overheated and lived for 7 months?

Apple should outsource their software work, they certainly have concepts but their software development seems to suck more by the day (and not just development, testing, and the rest of the process)
