Looks like a fix is coming soon for WiFi issues:
iOS 26.0.1 will likely address a handful of software bugs and issues:
iOS 26.0.1 will likely be released in the next few days.

Put me down as a user that's having this issue. I have no VPN and I do have an Ultra 1 paired. I hope the solution is software.

I’m the canary in the coal mine. I spent two hours with Apple this morning, they couldn’t fix it, so I rolled into my service provider and they offered an exchange. We will see!

Apple said it could be a batch problem. Which might be a continuing issue given that I got the second one from the same location as the first. Waiting for the transfer to be completed now.

The whole process has been exhausting.
Did the new phone help with the Carplay/Wifi issues?

Did the new phone help with the Carplay/Wifi issues?
It took forever to get everything sorted, including my watch. On the drive this morning the CarPlay did, unfortunately, drop once. That being said, it was once and not seven times.

On the other issues, I have successfully had a phone conversation with wifi connected. I played music via wifi without any issue for a few hours. The phone is far less sluggish and no weird floaters in safari. It also seamlessly moves through 3G to LTE to 5G and back. I don’t see it connecting / disconnecting the wifi on opening the phone either.

I did not wear my watch today because I wanted to do a comparison with it connected tomorrow.

So far, I am much happier with the performance of this new phone. It is like night and day.

Tried 26.01 on my 17 PM, and it still doesn't play nicely with my native wireless CarPlay Pioneer aftermarket head unit with disconnects/reconnects.

That S2 CarPlay adapter I bought still works just fine on 26.01 thankfully with no issues at all, I'll just stick to using that, and unlike my headunit, that at least gets firmware updates.

Carplay working flawlessly on my iPhone 13 Mini and iOS18

Still got issues with CarPlay on iOS 26.1 beta 2
Yes, I have Carplay stutters when playing music since getting the 17 Pro. It happened on the release day software, 26.0.1, and now 26.1 Beta 2. Come on Apple, you new N1 chip setup is supposed to be better, NOT worse.

I know that Apple doesn’t make carplay hardware, but they did make the N1 chip that isn’t compatible with many of the existing Caplay devices, AND Apple is the source of Carplay. If Apple makes a new wifi chip, shouldn’t it work with the existing Carplay devices? Are they trying to kill of Carplay, or do they just not care if Carplay works anymore? WTF Apple?

So I did two 20 minute trips in my car with the Alltotive S2 Mini Wireless CarPlay Adapter from Amazon, and my 17 PM on iOS 26.0 never disconnected once, couldn't fault it. Had Waze going, lossless music playing and interacting with the screen was fine.

My Pioneer SPH-DA360DAB with native wireless CarPlay disconnects and reconnects every 30 secs to 2 mins pretty much forever with the 17 PM as does an older CarPlay2Air adapter that didn't do that with my 16 PM.

At least I have a permanent fix that my 17 PM is happy with until Apple patch this ridiculous bug. It's a very cheap adapter, so no loss there, and it's always handy to have if I need to use other cars.
Same Pioneer car system and lots of random disconnects with my 17 Pro on native CarPlay. I bought that Alltotive dongle last week and was rock solid!
And it unlocked the keyboard on Waze that never worked with the Pioneer integrated CarPlay.
Thanks a lot!
