I have run speedtest on my new iphone 17pm and it lags behind my 16pm a good 200-300mbps of the exact same servers consistently off my home WiFi. This is the first time I’ve thought, maybe time to return my new iPhone and stick with what I’ve got.

I bought an Alltotive S2 Mini Wireless Carplay adapter from Amazon and so far it’s playing beautifully with my 17 PM. Before that, on my Pioneer headunit with native wireless Carplay, it would disconnect constantly every 30 seconds to 2 minutes, same for my Carplay2air adapter.

But this Alltotive S2 Mini Wireless one is working flawlessly for now. I have no idea what channel the other two use, whether it's 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz, but this adapter is definitely on the 5 GHz band. Whether that’s also a factor in this buggy mess, I have no idea. It was only £18, so it’s worth a go.

Edit: Forgot to add I do use an Ultra 3 watch and it was on my wrist and unlocked, with iPhone unlock enabled.
Can you confirm if this new adapter is still consistently working without issues? Also, I can’t find an adapter by that brand. Their website links to Amazon to buy, but not to a product page, and searching Amazon yields no results from that company. I do see something that seems to the same product from GATGOODS though, it has the same tile, picture, and details.

I can confirm that adapter is still working for me, I've driven for over an hour in total with this adaptor, using Waze and streaming lossless music at the same time, still wearing my Ultra 3 unlocked and this adapter hasn't disconnected once.

I'm using it with an aftermarket Pioneer SPH-360DAB headunit and my 17 PM seems very happy with this combo so far. I can't say for 100% certainty this adapter would work for everyone but for me it's been perfect.

I bought this one. It's one of those devices that might show up in many different names, but as long as it looks the identical, it's most likley the same one.

Thanks, appreciate the follow up. Looks like that brand is for UK Amazon - hopefully the one that is identical works for me in the US. I’ll find out tomorrow!

Yeah, I’m really wondering at this point. Can’t believe that there are only a couple of 17PM AWU3 users.
I am a 17 PM and AWU3 user and I use wired CarPlay on my 2025 Mazda CX-5 and no problems but cannot test wireless CarPlay of cou, no WiFi problems at home with my fiber WiFi network or elsewhere that I have experienced. I wonder how many folks have a new AWU3 like me and others it is expensive for the major of users I bet

My husband’s 17 Pro and my 17 Pro Max both have random wifi disconnecting issues on multiple wifi networks and wireless CarPlay is even less reliable now too. Working with Apple Support to try and pinpoint the issues.

As a 17 PM and Utra 3 owner it's a strange one. In the house on a Netgear RS700 WiFi 7 router, 2.4ghz, 5ghz and 6ghz bands work great without disconnection issues as I always keep them separated.

CarPlay is an annoying one, my aftermarket market Pioneer headunit with native wireless CarPlay installed into a 2011 Focus MK3 is unusable with constant disconnects and reconnects every 30 secs to 3 minutes.

Carplay2air wired to wireless adaptor exactly the same problem, but my recently bought to test S2 mini wireless adapter plugged into the same USB port is working flawlessly, even after multiple trips and now a total of 2 hours of use. Wired also works flawlessly.

The 17 PM seems to be very happy with some wireless chipsets but not others. My Ultra 3 was always worn and unlocked with each device, though the disconnects were happening when I had the Ultra 2 as well.

I'd love to test 26.1 but I don't want to install another beta at the moment, especially this early in case they push out updates fixing things. But hopefully 26.1 does fix the issues.

I'm amazed that this was never caught during 17 testing. Surely they had some people doing real-world tests and actually used wireless CarPlay, especially with all the Ultra CarPlay stuff they've been working on. Knowing Apple, they probably tested it on one model that the 17 PM just happened to like and thought, “Yeah, works great.” 😄

I agree about the lack of testing. You'd think they would have tested the new N1 chip incredibly well to ensure it works. When I look at the reports of how many chipsets the iphone 17 has problems with, its pretty incredible.

Since Apple ins't giving us any info, it's best not to jump on the beta right now. It you get on the beta nad 26.0.1 gets a fix before the beta, then downgrading is a hassle. For those experiencing problems the best options seem to be to wait for 26.0.1 or return the phone.

Im having issues with BT on my iPhone Air.
For example I have a Aranet device (air-quality device), and I can sit in the same room 2m from it and not connect to it with BT. Before with my iPhone 12 Pro I could connect to it multiple rooms with closed doors away.

Just started having Wifi disconnects today, one week after getting my iPhone Air. It will connect to Wifi, then if you put the phone down and it locks, when you unlock it, it will disconnect and show 5G and then take a minute to reconnect to WiFi. Even tried restarting, same issue. Gotta be either the N1 chip or a software issue... If it's the N1 chip itself, we are in big trouble...

I can confirm that the S2 from GATGOODS on Amazon is solid and my wireless CarPlay disconnection issues are not present with this device as they were with cplay2air with my AT&T iPhone 17 pro max 2tb.

I also have a theory, not sure if it’s correct, but with cplay2air, it somehow spoofed whether I’m driving or sitting still to CarPlay. This let me do things while driving that CarPlay is supposed to only let you do when stopped (for example typing on the keyboard for a destination). The S2 behaves as CarPlay expects where it will disable keyboard while moving. I’m wondering if there’s some issue with the way cplay2air (and maybe other aftermarket adapters) are handling that which makes things not happy. It would explain why the issue seems to be primarily focused on aftermarket wireless CarPlay adapters and not native (where OEMs probably follow the CarPlay rules). Also would explain why this adapter works while my other one doesn’t. It’s worth noting that the cplay2air was rock solid through iPhone 12, 13, 14, 15, and 16 Pro maxes in multiple vehicles. Including ios26 beta and public release on the 16 pro max. Issues only started with the iPhone 17 pro max.

Also worth noting I have not observed any other Bluetooth or WiFi issues at all, just wireless CarPlay.

Not sure if there’s any weight to the theory and can’t explain why that wouldn’t be more of a software issue with ios26 than an iPhone 17 issue. Just happy to have stable wireless CarPlay again. A side benefit is that the CarPlay is a bit more responsive and faster than the cplay2air.

My iPhone 14 Pro with iOS 26 works perfectly with two vehicles using wireless CarPlay, with zero drops, etc.

However, like you, my AT&T 17 Pro constantly drops with the identical vehicles.

Which GATGOODS unit did you have success with?

Great to hear this works for you as well, this little adapter is pretty quick and responsive, it definitely connects a hell of a lot faster than the CarPlay2Air did and seems to do a better job than my native wireless CarPlay as well, UI seems a little more responsive. They seem to keep this adapter firmware fairly up to date, and it has the ability to downgrade the firmware very easily as well if needed. Using this is a band-aid fix, but thankfully a cheap one until Apple fixes this.

For me in the UK Amazon, this adapter was under the name Alltotive, GATGOODS in the US Amazon. No idea how many names it may be under, but as long as it looks like this, it seems the 17 likes it.

Not a bad price I like my wired connection on my 2025 Mazda CX-5 so my phone keeps charging and it does not (so far heat up like my 15 PM did) but gonna get it as a backup if i have that issue on long trips especially thanks much. My wired works fine but always good to have a plan B LOL

If you also started wearing an Apple Watch today, this is an ongoing bug in iOS 26 with iPhones using the N1 chip while wearing an Apple Watch. It's fixed in iOS 26.1 beta 1 (Developer Beta).
