My 16 Pro is having these issues too - both wifi and bluetooth will intermittently disconnect. Not sure about CarPlay, only used it once and it was fine. Could be a coincidence, but the issues started once I upgraded to 26. I do have a watch and iPad on 26 also, fwiw.

Having the same issue with wireless Carplay and 17 Pro Max. No problem when plugged in and my 16 Pro Max was perfect. Ill see if taking my watch off helps on the ride home. 🤷‍♂️
I'll be curious to hear your results. I think there are at least 3 types of issues being reported (both linked to iphone 17/Wifi/Bluetooth). There could be more.

1) Wifi drops when an Apple Watch is worn, Wifi gets dropped repeatedly. Some say 26.1 beta has fixed this issue for them.

2) Some folks wifi works perfectly except with Carplay. It doesn't appear that 26.1 beta fixes this issue.

3) Some folks reports issues with Bluetooth dropping connections (i.e. airpods). It doesn't sound like 26.1 resolves this issue.

I bought an Alltotive S2 Mini Wireless Carplay adapter from Amazon and so far it’s playing beautifully with my 17 PM. Before that, on my Pioneer headunit with native wireless Carplay, it would disconnect constantly every 30 seconds to 2 minutes, same for my Carplay2air adapter.

But this Alltotive S2 Mini Wireless one is working flawlessly for now. I have no idea what channel the other two use, whether it's 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz, but this adapter is definitely on the 5 GHz band. Whether that’s also a factor in this buggy mess, I have no idea. It was only £18, so it’s worth a go.

Edit: Forgot to add I do use an Ultra 3 watch and it was on my wrist and unlocked, with iPhone unlock enabled.

17PM, rock solid on home network.
my car is having issues with wireless CarPlay disconnects with the 17PM. 16PM with IOS26 is ok.
Had to go back to a cable/wire for CarPlay. unusable.
Oddly my wife's car has been ok with CarPlay and 17PM

And another poster noted screen blurriness on 17PM, lag with CarPlay, I have the same. with a cable its fine.

I hope its just software and fixed soon...
No problems with my 17 PM and home fiber WiFi and my Mazda CX-5 only has wired CarPlay the wireless was in more expensive options so for me not a issue but for those liking wireless CarPlay I can see it is an issue for how you like to use CarPlay

But is anyone experiencing this problem with the iPhone 16 models that use the Broadcom I/O chip under iOS 26.0? I'd recommend sending bug reports through Apple Communities (I believe) so Apple can address this with iOS 26.0.1 to adjust the behavior of the N1 chip to correct this issue.

I mostly notice it when using Waze or Apple maps...icon stops moving then plays catchup. Pioneer head unit.

Just setup an iPhone automation to disconnect from cellular when connected to wifi, and noticed that the wifi is constantly disconnecting.

I did have the odd disconnections on my 16 PM, but it really didn't happen that often. My 15 PM never disconnected once in a year on iOS 17, but as soon as iOS 18 was installed on my 15 PM, that’s when the disconnections started happening and carried over to the 16 PM on 18, all on the same headunit.

It got a little more stable in the early iOS 26 betas and was still pretty reliable on the final release. The 17 PM, though, at least with my native wireless CarPlay, it's 100% unusable for me; wired is flawless though.

Using the wired to wireless adapter I posted above, though, it seems to be working beautifully with the 17 PM so far. Did a 20-minute drive to work with sat nav and lossless music playing, and it was great over wireless, not a single disconnect.

Definitely an issue they need to sort out, as this connection issue with wireless CarPlay has been around for a long while, at least since iOS 18. Whether with this bug it was just about stable with the Broadcom chip, but not with the N1 who knows.

Add me to list of affected users. I thought it had something to do with my VPN causing issues but I uninstalled all of that and still disconnected me. I have to go and turn WiFi off and back on to get it to connect again. Currently have no Apple Watch that is unlocked.

I’m currently using an eero max 7 mesh network in case it’s the WiFi 7 networks throwing it off but I also noticed it in my car as well because wireless CarPlay kept disconnecting. Hopefully a fix is found soon.

It is an actual bug with the N1 chip, per the CentauriFirmwareEvent log file

I had the same issues. Like the Air is basically unusable. I can connect to the web through the browser but the Music app wouldn't load Home Screen. was missing calls. took forever to download apps. Based on another post earlier about VPN, I looked at that because even though I didn't have VPN on (the protonvpn app wasn't even setup), when I looked at my VPN config in settings it was turning on and off every second without me doing anything. I deleted my vpn app and now Music loads. I have twice had to revert back to my previous phone but I'm going to try again. So if you having bigger issues than wifi not working when unlocking look at your vpn config even if you haven't used VPN in a while.
I don’t use a VPN. I did install a management profile from my employer but deleted it and still no joy. I have noticed that it happens more when I unlock my phone or am using my phone. As if it triggers the disconnect. If I don't touch it, it seams to stream for longer. But I pick the phone up and that's it - AirPlay disconnected and audio paused

I hadn’t experienced this at all until today, and realized today’s the worst day I’ve worn my watch since I got the new Air. Wonder if it is exclusive to AW users or there’s a broader issue.

iPhone Air, My issue is my WiFi shows connected but says “No Internet Connection” underneath. This is on my work WiFi. My home WiFi connects just fine as far as I know. My iPad running OS26 and my Ultra 2 running OS26 connect just fine at home and work. I haven’t had any CarPlay issues with the new phone. Anyone else facing similar issues?

Apple's latest iPhone models launched on Friday, and some early adopters of the devices are experiencing intermittent Wi-Fi issues.

Affected customers say Wi-Fi connectivity periodically cuts out on the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, and iPhone Air, with hundreds of comments about the issue posted across the MacRumors Forums, Reddit, and the Apple Support Community over the past four days. It is unclear how widespread the problem is.

Specifically, affected users said Wi-Fi briefly disconnects and then reconnects after they unlock the iPhone. And since Apple's CarPlay system in vehicles relies on a Wi-Fi connection, the issue can result in CarPlay disconnecting too.

Many users said the issue occurs while they are wearing an Apple Watch that is paired and unlocked, but it is unclear if that is always a contributing factor.

MacRumors has been unable to reproduce the problem, but it has reached out to Apple for comment on the matter. This story will be updated if Apple responds.

It is unclear if this is a hardware or software problem, but Apple is often able to fix these sorts of issues with a software update. iOS 26.0.1 is coming soon, but it is unclear if Apple will have identified and implemented a fix in time for that version.

All four of the new iPhone models are equipped with Apple's first-ever custom-designed N1 chip for Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread connectivity, whereas previous iPhone models rely on a Broadcom chip for wireless networking.

In a recent interview with CNBC, Apple touted the N1 chip's power efficiency.

"One of the things people may not realize is that your Wi-Fi access points actually contribute to your device's awareness of location, so you don't need to use GPS, which actually costs more from a power perspective," said Arun Mathias, Apple's vice president of wireless software technologies. "By being able to do this more seamlessly in the background, not needing to wake up the application processor as much, we can do that significantly more efficiently."

In its press releases for the new iPhones, Apple said the N1 chip also improves the performance and reliability of features like Personal Hotspot and AirDrop.

Unfortunately, though, it appears the N1 chip is not so reliable for Wi-Fi for some users right now.

I was able to fix my Wifi issues yesterday. Took a while, but now Apple Watch is synced, bluetooth is on, and Wifi is working flawlessly. Trick is to delete any VPN’s even if your VPN is not turned on. In addition, I updated to iOS developer beta 26.1. If you dont have developer beta, try the VPN trick. If VPN trick doesnt work, then the update is necessary for the fix. Hope this helps!

Not having the watch on didnt help for me. Luckily Fedex was really slow with my trade-in box so i switched back to my 16 Pro Max (also on IOS 26)and will test that for a few days.

Just a quick note to share my experience with an intermittent Wi-Fi issue on my new iPhone 17 Pro Max.

After trying several fixes, including force restarts and resetting network settings, I contacted Apple Support. They ran a diagnostic test, which confirmed there were no known hardware problems.

We then looked into VPN settings. Although my VPN wasn't actively connected or attempting to connect, the fix turned out to be deleting all my existing work VPN configurations and removing the VPN app entirely. Once I reinstalled the app and re-added the VPN configuration, Wi-Fi continued to work perfectly.

Hopefully, this helps anyone else who encounters the same problem until a bug fix is released.
This seems to have fixed it for me.

17 Pro Max and Air both fine and super fast on my home Unifi network but… when i visit family with 2 different routers and when I use carplay constant drops. I also use an Ultra 3 but I don’t think it was that.

Deleted several VPN connections that had copied over when I transferred from my old phone and immediately WiFi is now stable.

Thank you @oddbulls

So I did two 20 minute trips in my car with the Alltotive S2 Mini Wireless CarPlay Adapter from Amazon, and my 17 PM on iOS 26.0 never disconnected once, couldn't fault it. Had Waze going, lossless music playing and interacting with the screen was fine.

My Pioneer SPH-DA360DAB with native wireless CarPlay disconnects and reconnects every 30 secs to 2 mins pretty much forever with the 17 PM as does an older CarPlay2Air adapter that didn't do that with my 16 PM.

At least I have a permanent fix that my 17 PM is happy with until Apple patch this ridiculous bug. It's a very cheap adapter, so no loss there, and it's always handy to have if I need to use other cars.

This really needs to be fixed as soon as possible, as it is messing up wireless CarPlay. I have been fighting the navigation dropouts since I obtained my iPhone 17.

I just reverted back to wired CarPlay, it’s a step back but hopefully won’t drop out anymore until this can get fixed.
