I still feel like there is more to these stories than what we are being told. Here is a report in the forums that one of the phones was in a baggy set of jeans as well as a case and the phone bent and the screen seperated all from a simple soft bump into someone.

Something just doesn't sound right, especially where there are tons of stress tests on YouTube like the one below. Yes the back plate bent here but it took a liquid nitrogen bath and a sledgehammer and even then it fared better than expected. Are the phones being bent? Clearly. However, I think there is more to it that what people are posting. Maybe they don't recall what caused that to happen exactly but I bet there is more to it that is stressing the phone.

And In Other Shocking News

A Snickers bar melts if you put it in your pocket! I mean really people?? Herp Derp.

I sit on my iPhone 5S all the time!! Ok, ok, I know that didn't come out sounding well. Aside from that, its kinda surprising to think that Apple didn't anticipate this and build a phone that could handle it. If my iPhone 6 Plus bends after sitting on it, I'll be pretty disappointed. :(

You store your phone in your back pocket? That's a disaster waiting to happen no matter which phone you're using (can get stolen, bent, broken screen, etc..).

Really? My HTC One M8 is primarily aluminum and I keep it in my pockets all the time without any bending, and I have had it since release day 6 months ago.

Your HTC is over 30% thicker than the iPhone 6 Plus which will make a big difference to it's strength and resistance to bending.

I assume you are one of the reasonable people who have their phone in their pocket, but don't sit on it.

This is quite a serious problem. I wonder if apple didn't anticipate this, or they didn't come across this issue during their quality assurance testing. I wonder if were going to hear something from them regarding this.

No more serious than people sitting on their car hoods and expecting them not to bend or dent. Seriously, would you put a banana in your pocket and do all that and then expect it not to be deformed?

Anytime you put an object in a small space (relative to the object's size) and then move that space around or bend in an unusual (for the object) way, then there is always a chance of an accident.

This is no different than putting a credit card (which is flexible) in a wallet, then getting pissed when it's bent in a curve after a month.

I have no sympathy.

i guess that my only choice is now to return the iPhone 6 and re-buy an iPhone 5C

hopefully, 5C will be compatible with Apple Watch

too bad, I knew somehow that something wrong will come up...

People treating their £700+ phones like it's a throwaway device. No doubt all this bending will be "Apple's fault" again...

Look after your gadgets, people!

Front pocket of a suit and it was tight enough to bend it? [tight] Jeans, or back pocket I could see, but the specific incident cited I suspect was from somebody sitting on his lap or some other “crazy” wedding event.

Anyway, it’s definitely a concern.

I had my 5 at Universal a few weeks ago and I was thinking about the 6+, and just kind of noted how easily my 5 fit in my pocket, and even when it was oriented horizontal, it was comfortable and there was little-to-no stress on the phone (it was even easy to position it so it wasn’t making contact with the various bars/harnesses of different rides).

Seriously, would you put a banana in your pocket and do all that and then expect it not to be deformed?

Speaking of bananas (and rides ... see above), one time at Busch Gardens I had a banana in my pocket (like actual fruit people, behave), we were on an overdone health kick, don’t ask ... of some cargo shorts and we hopped on several rides, and when it was time for a banana break, hahaha, the thing had like liquefied in my pocket. It was the craziest thing, my pocket was full of banana juice - I wound up going to a bathroom, taking off my shorts, rinsing them out and drying them with a hand dryer :D I got some great looks from people standing there in my undies ...
