Gesticular cancer.

"in my left FRONT pocket of my suit pants."
Never, never, ever carry a mobile device in a pocket next to your genitals.
It's just asking for gesticular cancer.

This.

She doesn't care if her phone bends..... she can actually talk to people :)

(guys, there's a phone in this photo)

Yes....but it is a mass consumer item and when one designs a product for that mass all types of uses should be considered. Companies need to meet consumers half way, build a well engineered durable product and inform the consumer as to any special considerations of proper care, especially if a product changes in a manner that will skew that otherwise common knowledge.

I have been a loyal user of Apple products since 1992, I am not placing blame on them. But this thin phone thing is getting out of hand, literally and figuratively that is.

In that case, Apple should engineer the phone to be waterproof and and to be sprayed down with antibacterial spray and wiped clean since we all know that people use these things in the bathroom and that plenty have dropped their devices in the toilet.

As for the thinness, I agree, I wish they left the thickness the same as the iPhone 5/5S, and just made the battery bigger (for the 6 and the 6+). This would have not increased the thickness that much so that it was still able to be held in one hand, increased the battery life even more, and eliminated the protruding camera ring on the back, which doesn't bother me that much really since I put a case on my phone each time anyway. Have a Bodyglove case and a Spigen Thin-fit case for it so the size is already there anyway (for my 6+). Mine is able to be in my thigh pocket and not get bent. I also usually wear cargo pants or short so plenty of room in there to fit the Plus.

apple need to get this fixed... these phones don,t look fit for purpose

that could mean lots of returns.

surprised that the glass didnt shatter...

I don't think you want to get into the collision business with me! The coming back to shape you speak of is for less then 5 miles per hour and they are engineered to bend, as in absorb impact. They do not however, return to shape if unless its a very light impact, and that can be very misleading until the car is torn down to see hidden damage (bent metal, plastic & aluminum)!

I own 2 collision shops, been in the business 35yrs! Please don't parade your ignorance of this subject here!

BTW more and more cars are being made of aluminum, especially high end cars, as well as the new Ford truck!!!

Sorry, but you are displaying an ignorant attitude here.
And yes, of course, Plastic is low speed absorption, not a 30mph head on crash!
Number of years ago, I was in a small hatchback car.
I stopped at a red light.
The women behind me did not stop, she told me a wasp in the car and she was panicking.
BANK.......
My whole car lurched forward, luckily my headrest stopped me from any whiplash injury.
I got out my car, and as I span on the stop to turn around I saw the front her her car Hood, Wing, Lights all smashed up, front of car looked a write-off.
I thought, oh god, bet my car's back end up smashed up real bad. DAM.
Looked at the back of my car, confused....
Looked again, errrrr, WTF
Nothing!
Bent right down and looked and noticed a slight 1" graze in the plastic.
I can only assume the plastic deformed, her front end crumpled taking everything out, and my plastic went back into shape.

I was stunned how strong it was, and never spent a penny on any repair, did not claim off her insurance and nothing to claim. Kept my car for many more years.

Amazing how the plastic took the force and her steel just destroyed itself

Creates a new opportuny for case manufactures. Most cases already help with reenforcing the frame of this phone. Now I can see cases with a support frame make out of steel or expensive titanium in a support truss manner.

What's the point of an ultra thin phone if you have to put it in a MIL-STD case?

Really...REally?

Is it April fools day again?
How stupid can people be?
How brainless are you to think that you can put any electronics item
that is that large and thin in your pocket and think that it can survive flexing or pressure from sitting?
The rapid decline of America..

How many days will it be before Samsung makes a commercial about how their Note line of phones don't bend? I'm guessing they are in the meeting room right now and it doesn't take more than a few days. My guess, 3.

Lol, can't wait to see their view on it :)

Hey, it's another "exceptions are the rule" post with all the ensuing arguments about "Apple this" and "user that," and in the end 700+ comments on what exactly?

Amen!

Being in the collision business seeing how all metals bend, how plastic breaks, cracks and glass shatters there is no perfect material yet! Not even carbon fiber!

The same people that are pissed about the possibility of iPhone 6/6 Plus bending, feel the same about their cars "it should not have bent so easy?" etc!

I deal with the same mentality people when they get in a car accident:rolleyes:

Take arms manufacturers. How many have hollow aluminum stocks on pistols or rifles compared to thin plastic hollow stocks. None? The only way aluminum is used is if it's a solid block, solid stock, and I have still heard of more aluminum stocks cracking than plastic ones. Glock, m&P, springfield, etc. and many long gun companies use plastic for stocks and it's hollow. About the thickness of phone frames. Not b ack covers, the frames. Aluminum, like sig, lw 1911 frames, are solid. AR15 receivers are solid aluminum, frames are hollow plastic.

Why? Aluminum will bend or crack if it even gets close to the thickness of plastic frames and even still can crack as a solid piece. THAT is more like the thickness of phone cases, not bumpers on a speeding car. That's a ridiculous analogy.

If it's a big thick piece, then aluminum is the way to go. If it's think with little support it will bend or brake, plastic will flex.

I am not arguing with what you said, just pointing this out.

I worked as a mechanic at one time in the us, people are nuts.

The fact that someone finds the fact you can't/shouldn't put a phone in your pocket and sit acceptable.
The rapid decline of standards.

That's a brainist comment! How dare you!! :p

Have you no feelings for the serebally challenged online?

Do you mean "cerebrally challenged"?

I was able to fit the 6 Plus in my front pocket and surprisingly it felt less bulky than my Nexus 4. If I was at a wedding, however, I would have it in my inside breast pocket.

I was immediately aware of how slippery it felt and would be more concerned about dropping it than bending it in my pant pocket.

The thinner Apple makes their devices, the more important it is to put them in a case, so that you don't have to worry about every single thing.

A thin device in a case becomes a thicker device. I am looking forward to the 6s and 6s+ and a redesign that makes them less likely to bend when kept in a pocket, probably the most sensible place to keep a smartphone.

I ordered my case immediately after reading this post. And I will run to the apple store to get the applecare+. So afraid of bending my iPhone 6 plus...

Here is Unbox Therapy's video:

If you have a 6 Plus be VERY careful with it, as he say's it's a giant slab of aluminium and that metal bends...

Worst case scenario is if you bend the battery and it explodes.

After seeing that video.....I dunno.

This seems to me that it might.....MIGHT.....be a serious design flaw and horrible quality assurance failure.
