LOL. But still there're people who will deny that Apple software quality has slipped and it's more buggy than it ever was in the history of iOS and OS X.
Tim should fire himself.
Actually I think iOS is better than ever nowadays... I'm very happy about iOS 9 and I was happy about iOS 8 , with some glitches at the beginning.
Same for OS X: I love El Capitan so far...

It's something to do with ResetCounter bug type 115.

Issue has existed since iOS 7 in varying capacity. I've seen it once on my iPhone 6s (the described issue) and reset counter was the item in diagnostics log at the corresponding time.

This is a natural feature of every smartphone. If you're doing something extremely taxxing on the processor, it may shut off because of overheating. Perfectly normal.

Except, when it happens I'm usually not doing something taxing. I'm pulling up Facebook. Or have the phone in my pocket as I'm driving, only to get to my destination, take my phone out, see that it shut itself off and get stuck in a boot loop.

Woke up this morning and noticed my phone was off. Touch the home button to wake the screen super hot. I finally got it on by holding both buttons. I come onto macrumors instead of working this morning and I see this article. You guys are quick haha.

I have not been enjoying the increasing number of bugs in Apple software. I have been using Apple products because in exchange for more functionality I accept better stability.

Honestly, I think I am just going to switch to Android phones (of course, many of you will flame me immediately and say "good riddance" because a significant portion of the community here is extremely hostile to anyone who converts).

I do have to say that so far I am really enjoying El Capitan. I dual-boot it with Windows and I have a Windows PC for gaming. I was really considering switching completely to Windows (it even boots faster on a Mac lol), but El Capitan, I believe, has changed my mind. My laptop is for working, so I still need stability, and El Capitan provides that. Though I know a great deal of that stability comes simply from being on a Unix system.

My phone is "for fun" usage and convenience... And Apple restricts my fun on my phone and I think it is time to move on. I hate to lose the integration of the Apple ecosystem.... But then again, even hand-off hasn't worked for my since moving to iOS 9.

Things don't "just work" with Apple anymore. I am a developer, so I understand that adding new high-tech features isn't always incredibly smooth. But when other manufacturers have the feature 3 years earlier and Apple says "That is premature, we will put it in our devices when it is flawless".... Then it had better be flawless. Because if it's broken too, I'd rather have the technology three years in advance.

Apple needs to quit focusing on emojis and politics. Nobody cares about your politics or orientation, Tim Cook. Give us good products and shut your mouth. Your only purpose is to run a good company. If you want to be a politician, run for congress.

I set an alarm for 6 am fully charged battery. When I woke up late, I found the phone had shut itself off. Hope they fix this soon, it is not a good issue to have if you depend on this darn thing for alarms!

I agree. I rely on my iPhone for my daily morning alarm, too. Although it hasn't happen to my 6S+ yet, I hope there is a fix ASAP.

So to be bluntly honest I was going to keep this to my self , but my wife and another apple employee as my witness , I have to mention ,, so I had a iPhone 6 128 gb started to crash just how it's explained here ! I took it in for service thinking o it's just my phone acting up maybe they'll replace it ! They did ! 3 phone later in the store i finally get a phone that wasn't faulty !yes while waiting in the store they brought me out a total of three phones before they brought me one that worked ! All the 128 gb gold iPhones 6 plus they had for replacement where faulty with that self power off glitch ! Ok so now my question is wtf Apple ! 3 phones in the same store what's going on to quality control !!! ?!? Steve jobs was a perfectionist and wouldn't allow this, how embarrassing ,

 With 13 million out there in 1 weekend I'm sure there are few that sprout legs and run out the door too.

A microscopic number of defects are to be expected. And yes this is a microscopic problem.

iOS 9 has been a nightmare for me.

My 6s+ phone does, indeed, do this turny-offy thing.

6s+ screen dims sporadically for no rhyme or reason or pattern. My 6 never did that?

My initial ‘restore from back-up’ transition between 6/6s+(128GB) resulted in many of the apps held on my 6 not being transferred to the 6+.

Since starting to use iOS9/the 6s+, my Apple Watch has had sporadic to no communication with the phone…my iMessages have not cross pollinated from iMac to mobile devices…‘Hey Siri’ works intermittently, usually not at all…and the phone itself just feels confused.

At one point, the status wheel up by carrier ID wouldn’t stop spinning. Tried a complete rest to cure that…which worked…but didn’t seem to fix the rest of the issues. And, of course, it was then a slog tracking down the settings I then needed to re-apply.

Tonight I suppose I’lll under-take a full-on ‘restore to factory settings’ and start all over again.

As an ardent Apple lover…who has come to depend on many of the features being compromised by these current issues…this has all been hugely stressful and disappointing.

So sorry to post such whiny and negative feedback…just had to vent. This has easily been the most trouble-plagued iOS and hardware upgrade I’ve ever come across in many years of using iPhones, iPads, iMacs, etc.

Understood, but an iPad 2 is very old hardware ... I wouldn't have it updated to iOS 8 since the beginning

Given my experience I wouldn't again. However, you live and learn. My beef with Apple is they provide very little time to properly test the device with the new software then downgrade if it isn't an improvement for your particular device. I consider this a cynical move on their part.

I have a 6 Plus and this happened to me just yesterday. But I attributed it to something not quite right about my home button. I've been thinking my home button might be defective. Lately, I think even before iOS9, I press my home button to wake up my phone and nothing happens. I press again and it wakes up. Also, in attempting to wake up my phone with the home button, if it's unresponsive and I'm having to press a couple of times, Siri will come on and I have a hell of a time getting her to go away. It happens enough that I now know to hit the power button on the upper right and start over. I've also had the zoom come on (with three clicks, zoom gets enabled on my phone). But not with three quick clicks. I have a new phone arriving on Monday (6S Plus) and I am going to do a clean install (not carry over my backup). So I'm hoping to see an improvement.

I just had the same issue occur. Out of nowhere, blank screen. Pressing the power or Home button did nothing. However, I just let the phone sit for 5 min without touching and then tried. Home button worked just fine. Seems to be a SW issue that is making the phone sit in a loop until it times out...

Weird.

I would agree with others who have stated how buggy the GM releases have become lately. I work at a major medical device manufacturer that put's quality above and beyond all other aspects of the product. Quality is what supports a premium price.

If apple cannot get their penchant for Quality back to the forefront of their corporate mission, they are doomed to repeat the mistakes of other major companies before them. When the DOW JONES Industrial average celebrated it's 100th anniversary, do you know how many of the 12 companies that made up the original list still remained? ........1 - General Electric. Unless they can change before the game changes, they are doomed.

I love Apple's products, but a shift is coming...

Probably, but not related to iOS 9 only, since not everyone are experiencing this...

Two years for us Europeans...

Stop this paranoia please ! We are speaking also about iPhone 5S, iPhone 6 and others....

Correct. The whining was strong at the time of iOS 8 release....
Today iOS 8 was the "perfect iOS "

Short memories indeed! iOS 8 release was a disaster. iOS 9 release is comparatively smooth. Locking up is a huge issue though because millions depend on the alarm to get to work on time.

Had to take 2 6s's back because of this. They wouldn't last the night, and it was a bit scary not having an alarm in the morning. Looks like I finally got one that works, though.

Same here. Pretty difficult to tell the boss that your phone 'froze' overnight.

Chuck this new Apple....Its so annoying. Why the hell people happy used to pay premium price for Apple products? Because it was premium, reliable and flawless. But why the hell we should be fooled now? Every new launch has hell lot of annoying issues. I faced issues buying iphone 6s at Apple store! , I faced issues activating my phone in "slide to upgrade" screen. Every new ios upgrade supposed to make my iphone slow, laggy and buggy, so that I buy new iphone. 16gb primary storage ! Poor flat white cartoonish ios design. what else yet to come? Somebody please save Apple!

It's times like this that make me wonder how Apple can get away with preventing us from reverting to earlier versions of iOS.

When I bought my iPhone 5s, it shipped with iOS 7. I updated my phone to iOS 9, which I feel has made the phone slower. What purpose does it serve for Apple to prevent me from reinstalling iOS 7 so the phone is just the same as how it was when I bought it?

Apple doesn't do this with OSX on Macs. I can reinstall OSX Lion on my MacBook Air 2011 any time I feel like it. Why is iOS treated differently?

I am 100% sure it has to do with the fact that in almost every new iOS update, JAILBREAK vulnerabilities are patched. This is their way of saying a big "Fudge you" to all jailbreakers.

well said...I am with you. I am not Apple hater at all. Infact I am Apple lover. But seeing this poor Apple nowadays, it hurts how Tim is ruining the culture
