My 6S-64GB has randomly restarted a few times in the past week but I don't think that's happened to my wife's 6S Plus-64GB . I cannot figure out the common thread during those occurrences but something is definitely amiss. Never had that happen on my 4S even when I upgraded to iOS 9.

One interesting thing to note is that most iOS crashes (and most other modern operating systems) automatically reboot when they hit an unhanded exception or fatal error of some kind. When I've experienced this in previous iOS releases, the screen goes black, flashes white for a split second, then reboots.

According to most of the data collected so far, this crash requires user intervention to get the system back up.

Did the speaker cut out at the same time as the display?
Not sure. I was leaving a message at the time. I pulled the iPhone away from my ear to end the call and noticed the display was off dark - as if it was off. However I noticed it was still on because I could toggle the vibrate button which worked.

I know that this issue sucks. But, I still stick with iOS and I know there will be a fix soon. :)

Probably restored from backup. Leave your old junk from that 3GS behind.

Although that might be true, that's not the point and is still embarrassing for Apple. Keep in mind that Apple touts the ability to do backups and restore as part of their marketing pitch. In fact, if you ever bought a new iPhone in store, the first thing the genius asks you is if you backed up your old phone (so that you can restore from it on the new phone).

Also, don't forget that in the last presentation, Apple touted the "migration" app to move from Android to iOS while keeping your data/messages, etc. If Apple wasn't so keen on having your data/backups be restored or transferred over from phone to phone, your statement would've been perfectly justified. But the fact that they tout this feature and market it as a selling point, means that they should work hard to stamp out any bugs from old iOS's during upgrades and restores.

Its not the iPhone 6s thats having the problem its IOS 9 thats the problem, because my iPhone 5 and iPad are doing the same thing.

Not true, ppl are reporting that their iPhone 6s/+ are displaying some weird BH overheating camera flash error, and poor low-light camera issues also. Seems to be hardware and software related with these phones. Nothing is flawless including iPhones the 6s/6s+, they aren't immune to hardware problems. Faulty hardware units will always surface including Apple products.

I've never had this happen on my iPhone or my iPad.

Then again, I never installed iOS 9.0.x - I went straight from 9.0 betas to 9.1 betas as soon as they were released.

Yeah of course it's perfectly normal, in fact it's so normal my HTC phones have done it zero times in 6 years, but then we're not talking about normal phones, we're talking about the BMW of phones, or more precisely the VW of phones.

What's taxing? Listening to Freddy Merury singing Barcelona on Apple Music?

Exactly I owned 2 Nexus 4s at the same time 1 didn't randomly shut off the other did. This seems to be a mix batch of hardware and software issues with these new iPhones and iOS9. Some owners of the iPhone 6/+ aren't having problems some are. My 2 neices aren't experiencing problems on their updated iPhone 5s. There was one commenter stated it wasn't the iPhone 6s. It was strictly the software because the new iPhones don't have hardware problems, lol.

So to be bluntly honest I was going to keep this to my self , but my wife and another apple employee as my witness , I have to mention ,, so I had a iPhone 6 128 gb started to crash just how it's explained here ! I took it in for service thinking o it's just my phone acting up maybe they'll replace it ! They did ! 3 phone later in the store i finally get a phone that wasn't faulty !yes while waiting in the store they brought me out a total of three phones before they brought me one that worked ! All the 128 gb gold iPhones 6 plus they had for replacement where faulty with that self power off glitch ! Ok so now my question is wtf Apple ! 3 phones in the same store what's going on to quality control !!! ?!? Steve jobs was a perfectionist and wouldn't allow this, how embarrassing ,
Excuse me but I just can't believe you found three iPhone on a row shutting themselves off spontaneously in a few minutes in the store...
We are speaking of an issued noticed by some users in a few days, or weeks, of daily use......

My wife and I have not yet seen the issue where the phones just shutdown. And I have not seen the home button not get hot. If it is a hardware problem then maybe some are experiencing the issue due to a bad run of certain hardware parts that are in their phones.

Given my experience I wouldn't again. However, you live and learn. My beef with Apple is they provide very little time to properly test the device with the new software then downgrade if it isn't an improvement for your particular device. I consider this a cynical move on their part.
Well they surely are, but consider they are supporting 3-4 years old hardware when elsewhere users are lucky if they will receive 1 update (Android world anyone?).

Short memories indeed! iOS 8 release was a disaster. iOS 9 release is comparatively smooth. Locking up is a huge issue though because millions depend on the alarm to get to work on time.
iOS 8 release was worse than this, according to the ranting on this forums...
Btw this is an annoying issue, but we don't really know how widespread it is, yet

Ever tried an iPad 3 or iPhone 4s with iOS 8? Are you telling me it's a smooth experience ?

It's very true.
Not at all, but to be honest I wouldn't have updated an iPhone 4S to iOS 8...
It's looking for troubles...

This is false, unless you are using the latest hardware...

Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 > OSX

Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 are so much better than OSX. Speed and hardware optimization. Both Windows versions have some nice features. Window 8.1 and 10 can both run smoothly on systems with as little as 2Gs Ram. OSX needs almost 8Gs Ram to run smoothly with applications running. Windows is now aware and can optimize its self to function better based on hardware and usage.

The only Apple device I like now, is the iPad. I think the iPad Pro is going to ruining the iPad line :(

If you're a developer, then you should not have a problem with Windows reliability.
I'm using an iPad Air, not latest hardware.
The rest of your post about Windows is just ridiculous for me.

Reminds me of my thread about an Excel bug one month ago, where nobody answered.

But that was very specific, it happened only and always in the same situation.

My iPhone 6 was on a pre-GM beta and Excel crashed the whole phone for about a minute until the home screen reappeared. But there was no real shutdown, every other app instead off Excel were still open after that.

Is it really permanently or are most people just too impatient for waiting a moment instead of pushing everything?

My bug was fixed with an Excel update and never appeared again in any other case.

in such case , please don't tell me my statement is not True, just cause YOU did not update the software to a version that apple stipulates , works fine on a given device.

The average user does not know better than not to update . They trust and therefore update if Apple says so...

It's times like this that make me wonder how Apple can get away with preventing us from reverting to earlier versions of iOS.

When I bought my iPhone 5s, it shipped with iOS 7. I updated my phone to iOS 9, which I feel has made the phone slower. What purpose does it serve for Apple to prevent me from reinstalling iOS 7 so the phone is just the same as how it was when I bought it?

Apple doesn't do this with OSX on Macs. I can reinstall OSX Lion on my MacBook Air 2011 any time I feel like it. Why is iOS treated differently?

Well you've probably guessed it, but it's so you can say, ''oh damn, this iPhone is getting slow, I better get the latest one tomorrow.'' I still believe this is what they do with software, they put something inside to slow down older devices.

But seriously, is it really that bad with the 5s? I also got one and I'm still on 8.4 due to the fear of it becoming slow.

And how can you downgrade OSX? It's funny, but next to the phone, I also got the same laptop, a 2011 MacBook Air (1,7ghz i5, 4gb ram), and for the same reasons, I still haven't upgraded to El Capitan. If you have, how is your performance? And are you sure you can go back to lets say, Yosemite if you're not happy?

the average user that still uses a 3-4 years old smartphone hardly notice any issue regarding performances ... you did because you aren't an average user, so you should have avoided upgrading.
