UPS seems to be having problems in louisville - my series 4 shipped much earlier than apple had estimated (like a month earlier) and left china on 9/22. it got to louisville last night (from alaska) and this morning the status says:

Louisville, KY, United States 09/25/2018 7:30 A.M. Due to operating conditions, your package may be delayed. / Delivery will be delayed by one business day.

09/25/2018 3:05 A.M. Import Scan

09/25/2018 1:18 A.M. Arrival Scan

however, what's bizarre about it is that it's always said it would be delivered wednesday 9/26, but now the delivery status says:

Scheduled For Early Delivery On:

Wednesday, 09/26/2018 , by 3:00 P.M.

Originally Scheduled For Delivery On:

Friday, 09/28/2018 , by 3:00 P.M.

so it's simultaneously early, late by a day, and on time! WTF.

I ordered XS with 512GB at midnight in California for first day delivery. Delayed for similar reasons many have stated above, Saturday deliver was requested by UPS with a no show, but when Monday's delivery slipped to Tuesday, I started scratching my head. Each day I expect my little box, but then this morning I get the notice that it is delayed yet one more day... expected now Wednesday before noon... then changed to Wednesday by end of day.
Tracking in AK and KY when I think it had not even left China yet... amazing that they can't get the most basic of tracking under control. Regular UPS tracking would say one thing and UPS Choice would say something different.
I can only guess at the reasons... storms in the southeast are a great excuse but I think that this one was botched pretty badly from my perspective.

Apple's email of 22 September, following my order of 17 Sept, say's my iPhone XS Max will arrive on the 28th, meanwhile the order status in the apple.com website account system has reported from the beginning that it will arrive on the 25th (today), although I doubt UPS will deliver between 9:05 pm and midnight. The apple account system in iOS has never given a delivery date. UPS has listed it as waiting for clearance in
ZhengZhou, China since the 22nd and, as of 9:45 pm on the 25th, show it "in transit" at ZhengZhou, whatever that means. UPS won't even dare to guess at a delivery date, saying only that they are "updating plans to schedule your delivery." That's like three adverbial ways to try to do something without really getting it done. Updating, planning and scheduling. I think they're really saying they don't know anything. When I called Apple, they could only say they "think" it will arrive on Friday the 28th, but it could arrive before then. I'm just glad neither company runs an ambulance service!

I have the same on 2 S4 watches that were scheduled for delivery yesterday:

Louisville, KY, United States 09/25/2018
7:30 A.M. Due to operating conditions, your package may be delayed. / Delivery will be delayed by one business day.

yep, today my watch left louisville, at which point the tracking info resolved to a scheduled delivery of friday - 2 days late. it arrived this afternoon at my local airport (which is only about 8 miles away) but i guess they will just sit on it one more day. that's lame.

edit (thursday): this is great! apple sends me notifications/text messages that today's the day! meanwhile ups tracking still says friday. i felt pretty good last friday when UPS delivered the Xs at 9:15PM but i guess they just couldn't keep it up.

oh, even better, UPS just sent me a text telling me to expect the package today... man these guys are like the keystone kops.
