Some iPhone XS and XS Max Deliveries May Be Delayed Until Monday in the United States [Updated]

You are right, my fault. iPhones are the most important thing in the world. How dare do I make a comment about your shinny new f'in toy in light of people's entire lives being destroyed. You keep on bitching about it being late a day. A true humanitarian right there.
I pre-ordered my XS early and was promised Friday delivery.
No delivery Friday.
Then I called UPS and was promised Saturday delivery.
No delivery Saturday.
Now I wait for Monday, but the tracking info shows a recent scan back in Hong Kong again.
Hope Apple switches back to FedEx after this debacle.
UPDATE: delivery has now been pushed back to TUESDAY because they forgot to load the package onto the plane. also, UPS finally admitted that the package did not leave China until Sunday.
No delivery Friday.
Then I called UPS and was promised Saturday delivery.
No delivery Saturday.
Now I wait for Monday, but the tracking info shows a recent scan back in Hong Kong again.

Very dissapointing. I’m in the same boat due to UPS - XS shipment originally scheduled 9/21, tracking showed Louisville and delayed to 9/24, then back to Chek Lak Kop HK and then Anchorage again. UPS tells me it was never actually in Louisville as those were not physical scand. They said it was in Anchorage, however was mis-sorted and missed a plane to Louisville so now Tuesday 9/25 delivery. I’m keeping my Apple Signature waiver on the door and had UPS make an annotation to expect it.

Same.. mine is now set to Tuesday for delivery because my iphone missed it's flight. Friends and co-workers got theirs on time via fedex.
I have to wonder how Fedex seemed to make their promised deliveries coming from the same origin, but UPS did not.
Finally called UPS. The Kentucky entry was a pre delivery scan. Packages were never physically in Kentucky. Person told me they are in Alaska and there are too many packages to fit on the planes. They don't work on Sunday, so will be a 2 day delivery delay until 9/25.

I got mine after 8 pm on Friday. We have an awesome UPS guy, and I said “working late!” And he said “yeah, because of all of those phones!”
If I had a less awesome UPS guy, I probably would have got it on Monday...
(I know because both FedEx and UPS in previous places I have lived pulled the “not at home” trick even though they didn’t come near my house.)

I was told Friday. Then it was “Saturday service requested”. Then it was Monday. Now it’s Tuesday. So glad I ordered online. My local store had stock this weekend…
I'm in the same boat but I think mine got stolen by the UPS driver.
I've ordered 3, for my family.
On Friday 9/21 morning, all my UPS status shows, "OUT OF DELIVERY at 8:41 AM"
At 11 AM, UPS rings bell, my neighbor signs for them packages as I was coming out. Neighbor hands me 2 packages, I saw the UPS driver going back to his truck. I said to him, "There's only 2?", he replied, "I only have 2 of the 3 on my truck."
Two of the tracking # shows delivered and third one still showed, "OUT OF DELIVERY" by Friday night.
Day passes and over the weekend, the status of the third phone shows, "09/21/2018 8:41 A.M. Destination Scan".
So, somehow, the third one is MIA...
This morning at 10 AM, I get an unexpected visitor, it was from UPS security specialist. He was questioning if I have gotten ALL my iPhone's. I told him I got 2 out of the 3. Then he continues to ask if the driver was a helper or the driver himself. He told me to call him by the end of today if nothing shows up. I think UPS knows about missing iPhone packages cause he had handed me the paper with the delayed/MIA package.
In hindsight, it was weird that the UPS driver knew I had 3 and said he only has 2 of them on his truck. Either the 3rd one was on the truck and he gave one to someone along the route or kept it for himself.
I'll keep y'all posted if it ends up showing up today, I highly doubt it as I saw a UPS truck passed by earlier.

Update: UPS told me to call apple to send a replacement now. He is still figuring out what happened to the phone. I assumed the driver stole it for himself as all three phones were out for delivery at the same time, which was 8:41AM. Guess someone got a free iphone max.

So finally, after dealing with potential Apple/UPS daily volume quota issues, excessive delay in customs, missed flights and turning a 9/21 delivery into a 9/25 delivery, I get an email that my phone is being held as the UPS facility for pickup per my request.
I make the happy and joyous drive to the UPS facility to pickup my package, only to discover that, despite the email, it is not ready for pickup. The first shuttle from the delivery docks had arrived by 8:25am, but not with my package. Have no fear, the UPS rep says, there should be another shuttle before 9am.
I wait in the parking lot until 9am since I am about 20 minutes from home and then go back in. The second shuttle had arrived, but guess what.. no package.
The UPS rep took down my phone number and said they would call me when the package arrived, but I am not sure that I believe it given how busy they seem to be.
In any case.. why send out an email that the package is ready for pickup when it is not ready for pickup. Just another snag in this fiasco. I know that other people had a reschedule to the 26th, so I am at least grateful that I am not one of them (yet), and it could also be worse given the stolen phone ordeal that kthankzbye wrote about.
