Because they are emotionally attached to Apple.

Or they know that it's an issue that isn't very serious, and that will be fixed in an update soon. If not, Apple would obviously repair under warranty.

So let me see if I understood you correctly... your only two options are to either overreact and think every single reported issue is a complete calamity, world ending disaster... or to be an Apple sheep that forgives absolutely anything? No possible middle ground?

Yeah, but he clearly has something out for Apple. He makes a living off of being anti-Apple. It's his delivery that's grating, not what he's actually doing.
He seems legit to me. Maybe you can't stand the criticism of Apple and he comes off that way to you, not knocking you at all.. kind of like out current potus and his cult. jk?!

I’m also having the same issue. When the phone display is off and plug the cable, it won’t charge, need to tap the screen before it will charge. No issue for my older iPhone X.

iPhone XS Max 512GB Gold

guy is just doing his job man.... yes he has theatrics - but that's what attracts views = how he gets paid

think about the crap you have to do for work....
we all got to earn our living
im sure the guy has a real 9to5 job, he cant just be sitting in a huge wearhouse doing nothing.

I have been experiencing this, but with the iPhone SE. And not beginning recently, but a long while ago (though I can't recall exactly when). It only happens occasionally (maybe 5% of the time, maybe even less), so I never bothered to find out the reason why.

*Plug in the (official Apple) Lighting cable*
Oh, I didn't hear the charging 'beep' sound or the feedback rumble.
*Turns the screen on.*
*Beep/Rumble*
Okay. That's better.

Again... how is this not a serious issue? If your phone doesn’t charge, you can’t use it. To me that sounds like a pretty big issue...

Calm down. How many phones are impacted? You have no data to act like it’s so huge issue. I know it’s not because it would be on the front page of The NY Times if it were.

You expect the entitlement crowd to calm down? They wake up every morning looking for things to be outraged over. This situation is their latest shiny object.

It will pass...like bad gas.

My iPhone XS Max will not charge up when I insert the cable while the phone is asleep. I have to wake the phone to get a charge going through the lightning port.

I noticed when I turned on USB Accessories in Face ID & Passcode, the phone will charge up when it is asleep.

So? Some YouTubers make a living off of being pathetically pro-Apple. You do what you gotta do.

If anything, iPhone XS users should be grateful for Lewis giving this problem visibility. Otherwise you guys will have to wake your iPhones before connecting the 5W charger for a long time...

Seems you guys are equally as desperate to find a reason to hate this guy. I wonder what is more pathetic...

What do you guys care so much? He is doing what he is expected to do, if you do not like his videos than do not watch them. Other people watching them & other people commenting on them does not affect you in any way at all. I literally do not see the problem. Hell you can probably even block the guy to prevent his videos from showing up in your world on accident.

Seems Apple users really are the whiniest bunch of people. Imagine explaining to a starving kid you are upset because a youtube video maker is making youtube videos. Lol jesus people.
You're criticizing people for criticizing people.
The irony.

Huh. I haven’t looked at the forum in a day or two and didn’t realize that this wasn’t just me. I thought I had a bad cord, and kept switching them around.

I also had a problem with the camera. Sometimes I’d take a photo and it would show up in the little preview window, but would disappear before saving to camera roll. So I took phone to Apple to exchange it this afternoon. Glad I did, because I was playing with the Max while I was waiting (place was still crazy busy a week after launch) and decided to pay the difference and get it! I love it... huge screen without being a giant phone!

It is something similar to my Note 8 as well(reported it to Samsung) that had this problem many months ago. Once I changed my charger to Wireless, I probably didn't experience it

Didn't Apple started second sourcing their own power management chip? Maybe the funky one is Apple PMC while the working one is the tried and trusted UK Dialog Semiconductor PMC.

You're only paying $1K anyway. If you want everything to work, Apple will need to charge $2K.

Agreed. How dare people criticize when a basic function of a 1500$ smartphone isn't working right?!

Nothing wrong with criticism. Virtual meltdowns and clickbait article titles, however...

Besides, it not an issue with the phone, it's an issue with iOS 12. People are reporting the same problem with other devices.

Of course, that won't stop the fake outrage and self-serving grandstanding. Folks gotta get their quota in for the day.

But is he wrong?

I’m no fan of his channel. I often find his anti-Apple bias to be quite annoying, and his fan base is even worse, but come on... you gotta call a spade a spade. The issue is so widespread that even MacRumors is reporting it.

I never said he was wrong. I said it is a software issue and the dude is abrasive.

How is a phone not charging properly not considered a “serious problem” to you? You do know you can’t use a phone if it’s not charged, right...?

This problem is being reported by quite a few people. People don’t to be apologists this time. It’s okay to acknowledge a fault by Apple.

Not being able to change the phone whatsoever is a serious problem, a phone bending when you sit on it is a serious problem, a phone exploding is a serious problem.

If this is a hardware issue then sure it’s a serious problem, but it seems like a software problem, wireless charging still works fine and it does still charge. Your WAY over exaggerating it as it stands right now. If it turns out to be hardware then I take it back.

Of course it’s a fault, I never said it wasn’t and never being and apologist, but Lew there is obviously an android fanboy trying to recreate his bengate success by making a click bait title
