Buggy software. It happens.

Case in point. Do you REALLY think Apple phones would be as physically strong now if no one ever had tried to bend them, and a whole "will it bend" culture got so strong in the media?
No, of course not.

Maybe..... Apple would listen to the public, for sure, but also now the iPhone ARE stronger, but we have not seen a reduction in "will it bend" videos on YT, but points out further, this is just a marketing gimmick people have got snuffed into now... It will NEVER end.. no matter how "strong the phone is"

People just like tossing them off their houses.

When the cost is optimal, lots of efficiency and quality automatically kicks-in at all areas from R&D to after sales and service, SJ days efficiency was probably at its peak(TC probably played very important role in operational areas). When lethargy sets in you get to see huge price increase and the mind set spreads across the enterprise.

Cost determines the quality, high cost not necessarily correlates to very high quality.

sadly this happens to my phone (XS Max Sprint version) and it happens on a regular basis.

At first i thought there’s something wrong with my usb charging station or the lightning cable until I saw someone else talking about this problem online. It is not a huge deal but it is very annoying nonetheless.

I don’t get the hate towards the youtuber - i do not follow him but I don’t think apple should get an easy pass on issues like this.

My wife’s iPhone X on 11.4.1 had this problem last night where the X wouldn’t wirelessly charge, even if it was unlocked. Nor would it charge with the premium Apple 29W adapter and Apple USB-C to Lighting cable.

A reboot of the phone enabled wireless charging.

People also didn't get to use their CDs with the MacBooks and we all know how that turned out. That's how technology evolves.

Your comment makes no sense. The guy is talking about C-type not USB A. That's the new one Apple uses in it's conputers but not in its phones which is absolutely lame.

Interesting that he doesn't have a follow up video showing USB restricted mode being turned off and this happening.

He's become a complete Android shill. I used to like his videos but listening to him complain about how Apple didn't show him any special treatment this year nauseated me. Why would they? Your entire channel is dedicated to bashing their products.

I'm not saying I like or dislike any YouTube channels as everyone's tastes vary.

However, I would say, EVERYONE here, who likes Apple products, and wants them to be better should deep down thank ANY You-Tuber that brings maximum attention to any bugs or issues so that other media places get to hear about it and also report on it.

Why?

Because mass awareness and, even if you dislike them, sensationalist viewpoints, get things fixed and improved upon the quickest.

Nothing ever gets resolved quickly by keeping quiet about it.

No, of course not.

Apple has to respond to this noise generated bu such aggressive? channels.

So, remember, whilst you may hate issues being made into more then you think they should be.
The end result of all of this, is that YOU will get better and better products into the future.
Well Amen to that!! Logical posts are dangerous lol.

Neither is this an unfinished product nor a beta. Technology has bugs, even if it costs a lot you cannot possibly predict the behavior of a gadget on such a larger scale use. Plus, millions of iPhones are sold in weeks (on launch) so it is inevitable that some issues surface however they get blown more out of propotion just because the press and YouTubers get more clicks/views with thumbnails and captions that are against Apple even if a few hundred out of millions are facing it. Plus, Apple cares and has a 14 day replacement and an exchange policy if you face any issues which is highly rare. To top it all most of these issues like the WiFi/LTE reception issue, beauty mode issue and charging problem will be solved in the next software update. Last year a lot of people called the screen unresponsiveness in iPhone X a hardware issue and it turned out Apple fixed in within the second week of announcement. Remember?

One of the problems (and I experienced this with a 6s+ that Hy gyroscope issues so the camera took pics upside down) was I bought a phone, had the issue within two weeks, took it to the store. Got it replaced with a REFURBISHED unit. That is totally unacceptable. That's like buying a new car, it has a defect, and in return they give you a used car.

Fully agree on that point.

OMG the new X phone has Y problem! Guys it's totally Ygate. Let's spread the word so Z company stops ripping off customers, also subscribe. Bleh bleh bleh outrage outrage outrage fanboy sheep fanboy. Oh it's fixed.

OMG GUYS NEW PROBLEM, multiply by infinit

Please SHARE this so that we can get Apple's attention! Definitely not because I want more subbies!

What is your problem? I'm not defending Lew for trying to make this dramatic but he is making a good point for everyone whos having this issue.

People NEED to shout out to Apple when there is a problem. Apple just wont listen without high profile people pointing then out

Nobody should. Samsung gets beat up when they have bugs and they're an expensive (but cheaper) phone. Haven't noticed this on my wife's XS Max Anything that cost this much should have been tested thuroughly and they probably did. The biggest thing and Jobs had a WWDC that highlighted this, is the support after it's in your hand--the reason the Apple store became a large scale "thing". Charging a $1200+ phone IS a big deal, and Apple needs to 1) admit it'sa problem (rarely do) and 2) fix it obviously. That they rarely seem to admit problems ("you're holding it wrong") is one of the reasons I switched from Apple for phones and haven't gone back. iPads are still the best bya wife margin though and I want that watch!!!

I charge my iPhone on the wireless charger every night... normally wake up to 100%, predictably. With the XS MAX I've woken up to 80% and 84% twice already... like, wtf Apple? I thought this thing was supposed to be more efficient when it comes to charging than the X that it replaced??

I bought 4S which had done network issues and the next day I too got a refurbished!! Real premium experience in 2012!

Someone please invite this guy to the next Apple event so he can shut up.
Let him be to bring awareness to everyone so Apple start doing their job. In the long run it helps Apple improve their product. I don’t understand why he’s such a butthurt for you, your fanboyism is very strong boy!

Yeah, the Genius was talking possible remanufactured phone as a replacement for my XS Max with cellular connectivity issues. At that point I did a return instead and will purchase a new one when Apple resolves the connectivity and charging problems.

As excited as I was to get a launch day phone, I think I’ve learned my lesson and from now on will wait a month or so after launch to let others test the waters. Sad but this is the 2nd model release phone that I’ve had problems with. The prior one I didn’t return and had ongoing problems with until I upgraded the following year.

Really? For such a basic function? How difficult it is ensure some basic functions work? Too difficult for a trillion $ company ?

Not in every market they sell.

Not sure how you know these are software issue! and even if you are right, how the hell these didn't get caught in the beta stage ? 4 million users were doing public beta -> https://www.macrumors.com/2018/07/31/apple-4-million-beta-testers/

a few hundred out of millions are facing it..

Yes I do, they couldn't resolve my issue, had to change the iPhone 2 times.

Why does it take several people to tell the truth about their phone experience, for other people to tell the truth about their phone experience? People give Unbox therapy a rough time, but he is probably one of the most unbiased sources. I can’t even take the word of the forums. Think of the jokes if this was a Samsung phone.

I was able to plug in my Lightning cable and not have it indicate it was charging until I tapped the screen but was only able to get it to do that once. I don't think I noticed this before because at night I have it AirPlay music to my HomePod while I sleep so it's not 'asleep' that whole time. Hmmmm...

P.S. I love the dark, disturbing music in the background of this video. I was expecting something to explode or one of the phones to accuse someone of murder.

I had the same thing happen on my XS. It didn’t charge the first time but did after that.

Not being able to change the phone whatsoever is a serious problem, a phone bending when you sit on it is a serious problem, a phone exploding is a serious problem.

If this is a hardware issue then sure it’s a serious problem, but it seems like a software problem, wireless charging still works fine and it does still charge. Your WAY over exaggerating it as it stands right now. If it turns out to be hardware then I take it back.

Of course it’s a fault, I never said it wasn’t and never being and apologist, but Lew there is obviously an android fanboy trying to recreate his bengate success by making a click bait title
What exactly am I over-exaggerating? Did you even read the article or watch the video? I’ve seen this issue casually mentioned multiple times in unrelated threads and didn’t think anything of it. How that I see how widely reported it is, with threads all over the place, and see it in action where 5 out of 8 phones had the issue (and one didn’t even charge at all), yes this is absolutely a serious problem right now. People are accustomed to their phones charging when they plug them in (weird, I know), and not everyone has a wireless charger or would think to wake their phone every time just to charge it. Even then, sometimes it stops charging (or never starts at all). For you to even suggest this isn’t a big deal, that’s pure apologist speak.

I don’t care if it’s software or hardware, the bottom line is it’s a problem. For you to downplay it just because you don’t like the guy, that’s just plain petty and silly. I personally can’t stand the overall anti-Apple sentiment on his channel, but that doesn’t discount the fact that this issue needs attention.
[doublepost=1538310892][/doublepost]
It didn't say it wouldn't charge. It said it wouldn't initiate charge while screen off, na? So I know this might be an overwhelming burden to some on here, but a temporary solution until they release update would be to turn on the screen, then plug in.
Did you even watch the video? Some phones stop charging even after the workaround, and some don’t even start charging at all. So yes, that is a problem. You shouldn’t need a “temporary solution” on a $1,000 phone, for something that has always worked perfectly fine on previous phones.

It blows my mind how some people will downplay anything just because it’s Apple.
