Had a BMW with this same problem.
Then I put air in that back passenger-side tire.
All fixed.

I bet they will update the iOS Compass App to recognize the iMac, and say it’s totally even. Not gonna lie, whipped out my level and checked my iMac.
1mm is a lot to anyone with an engineering eye.
it should have a tolerance of less than 1 mm on an iMac this size...period.I get the obviously crooked ones but people with their Mac out by 1 mm? Give me a break princess. How’s that pea feeling right about now?
Because it was a BMW, and not an Apple Car…Had a BMW with this same problem.

About 0.9 mm too much, there's always a tolerance, nothing is 100%Regardless of opinion, 1mm off is 1mm too many.
2 week return window? We have 6 months in the UK for anything faulty from the beginning.
Same for the EU afaik. For anyone in the UK affected by this, Apple’s return window is irrelevant. The Consumer Rights Act 2015 provides that goods must be of satisfactory quality, which, plainly, this sort of defect would breach. There surely must be some sort of equivalent provision in the laws of most western countries.
Apple will be sending out matchbooks out to all owners. Instructions will say shove matchbook under short side and ****.
Some M1 iMacs appear to have a manufacturing defect that causes the display to be mounted on the stand in a way that's not perfectly aligned, leading to a crooked display.

YouTuber iPhonedo over the weekend published a review of the M1 iMac, and he found that his machine appeared to be tilted on one side, a mounting disparity that was visibly noticeable and proved with a ruler.
Another person on the Apple Support Communities also complained of a non-level display with a 1mm disparity between the right and the left sides of the display, and there was a third complaint on Reddit, with the person in that situation discovering the issue after watching iPhonedo's video.Even our own orange M1 iMac that we ordered for testing appears to have a slightly crooked display. MacRumors videographer Dan had noticed the iMac was crooked and assumed it was a problem with his desk, but it appears that may not be the case.
There are seven screws holding the iMac's display to the mount, and the manufacturing issue does not appear to be user fixable.
Apple may opt to allow returns of crooked iMacs after the two week return window, but it appears to be a problem that's limited in scale at this time so we don't yet know how support staff will respond. Apple customers who purchase a new M1 iMac should check for a crooked display right when receiving a new machine so that it can be returned or swapped out within its two week return window to avoid having to try to get support from Apple.
So far there are only a handful of known iMacs with this manufacturing issue, but let us know in the comments below if you've had issues with the mounting on your M1 iMac.

This is almost certainly a manufacturing/assembly defect, not a design flaw. I mean, a design flaw is possible—i.e., something in how the mount is attached—but unlikely, imho. Some manufacturing contract somewhere is about to be terminated...If Apple wants to be a premium brand and charge for it then really should be exact. Always touting their design prowess.
Have you ever made broad generalizations? Yes, yes you have.Have you seen how engineers dress?
ROFLMAO. Help people with the issue you say? Well, first, it will take a class action law suit, media flaming, and government watch dog groups to comment.... that is the standard process and procedure for Apple to take accountability on defective products.... scissor gate, antenna gate, macbook pro screen gate.... nano explosion gate, 3 other ipod gates.... like this is the company that has never once taken ownership of anything or said, "we'll make it right" without being forced too. I love Apple products but they are really a despicable company if you're honest with yourself. And we all empower them with our wallets (self included) but truly d-bags that sadly make crap I can't live without. And here we go. No doubt some users are experiencing this issue but now we have to read postings from hundreds more stating "mine is off by a millimetre" (roughly 1/25th of an inch for Americans on the forum) and photos like the orange iMac in the article where the iMac is clearly not perpendicular to the wall nor to the camera which can create the illusion of crooked screens.
Hopefully Apple will help those who legitimately have an issue and we will not be inundated with posters who only think they have a problem because they read about it here.
mmmmm, for a company that prides itself on aesthetics, design, and charges a significant "apple tax"...people deserve and expect precision. particularly on something like this. such an unforced error on apple's part.I’m sure it will be addressed but I have to say the person complaining about a 1mm differential needs to get meds for OCD. I’d guess that is well within manufacturing tolerances and isn’t worth generating anxiety over,
Can these be fitted with a VESA mount or does a specific iMac need to be ordered?
1mm difference…. 1mm difference. Ridiculous to B&M about it.mmmmm, for a company that prides itself on aesthetics, design, and charges a significant "apple tax"...people deserve and expect precision. particularly on something like this. such an unforced error on apple's part.
HAHAHAHAHAHA.Steve Jobs would’ve never allowed this, this is another Tim Cook cost cutting low-quality hack job.

people are totally justified in expecting near perfection in anything they purchase, particularly if you're throwing down $1K+ for a machine you'll have on your desk and look at almost every day for years. you might not care, and that's fine. to you - no harm no foul. others have a different viewpoint. why all your engagement knocking people down for wanting something made correctly?1mm difference…. 1mm difference. Ridiculous to B&M about it.
