Steve Jobs never would have held it wrong...

That is a VERY good point. The hardware variables are very very small, Windows machines is huge, yet Apple has ongoing wifi issues. Can anyone comment here on theorn experience who accesses their wifi by way of Airport Extreme or Express?

Yeah, what is up with the QA? Who do they think they are? Compaq?

Is it more noticeable now because there is a greater user-base? Or is Apple focusing all its R&D on watches and wallets?

There are a lot of "OS Beta-Testers" out there.

No issues here on an iMac (27-inch, Late 2012). Yosemite has been the smoothest upgrade ever.

Expected .... :)

How many OS's from Apple recently has "just worked" without any connectivity issues... from anyone

I don't think i can even count one. That would be stable.

My WiFi Connection is Good

I don't have a WiFi connection issue... BUT...

1. Handoff doesn't work
2. iTunes sync is sometimes a problem with my iPhone 6

<troll>Works fine for me! Maybe you're using it wrong!</troll>

;)

Just kidding. But being serious here, I had this problem when I first installed it. It wasn't that I kept losing connection, though I probably was, it was that I had connection but nothing was going through (as a look at 10.0.0.1 confirmed). Disconnecting and reconnecting WiFi helped but only for a little while. Then sometime during the week it settled out. I don't know what I did differently as I'm still using all the same utilities (plus a few more) that I used to. Probably too many, but that's an issue of disk access, RAM and CPU load and I have an SSD, 8GB RAM, and an i5 that hasn't underperformed worse than it's expected function. I am using a standard Xfinity cable modem if that helps people to understand what the different use cases are.

My major problem with Yosemite so far has been Firefox (meh) and Chrome Browser (fave) hang when sites like YouTube are loaded yet Safari (bleh!) runs fine. I suspect Apple shenanigans with how Safari runs (or rather how Yosemite ****blocks other browsers)... But that's just me and my crazy conspiracy theories. :apple:

Tons of wifi issues on my rMPB, had to downgrade to Mavericks because I couldn't deal with them while working. I would have to turn wifi on and off every 30 min or so. Horrendous, apple.

Yep, I'm having the same problem. I notice it from day one. I was in the ALT Lenox Square Mall store this morning checking out the 5K iMac. The iMac was having the same issue.

I should add the 5K iMac is incredible. Gonna buy one as soon as it comes with Broadwell.

I had issues with my peculiar configuration:

MacBook Pro 15" Mid-2015 with 802.11ac.
Time Capsule 802.11ac
Time Capsule 802.11n (3rd Generation)

Both Time Capsules were set up with the same network name and parameters, allowing automatic switching depending on location. The two Time Capsules are in separate rooms of my home so there is an overlap in their range. Still the strongest access point is switched to automatically after a few seconds that the other one gets too weak.

I had massive slowdowns with the ac connection to the newest time capsule with the second capsule working in the 5GHz spectrum for 802.11n. With "massive slowdowns" I mean very erratic performance between 5 to 50Mbps, a lot lower than expected given signal strength and noise ratio. Very noticeable even with just internet browsing.

Once I "disabled" 802.11n 5GHz on the second capsule (I gave the 5GHz network a different name and never connected to it) everything started to work like a charm with spectacular performance from the ac network.

Not sure why, but it seems that particular configuration triggers some sort of conflict.

My 2013 simply won't connect to the internet 50% of the time when I reboot - and that's over ethernet. Works 100% under bootcamp and all the other devices in the house... looks like network bugs in Yosemite!

I was wondering if anyone else has network problems also using ethernet. I already stopped using wifi since it does not work properly when bluetooth is on at the same time on my first generation MacBook Pro Retina (tried all those tricks and nothing helped, sounds like a hardware issue).

Ethernet drops to extremely slow speeds after I connect my iPad Mini. Once I unplug the USB cable it goes back to normal speed.

I switched from 20/40 Auto for Channel Width to just 20Mhz and that seems to have solved it for me. We have a lot of other base stations in the area and as I understand it, being on 40Mhz can allow for more interference.
Since setting it to 20 we have not had any drops. Speed is still fast enough for Computer to Internet speeds. I don't do much computer to computer so no need for anything too fast. We have 100Mbit internet but still get enough performance from the N Wifi we have, even on 20Mhz.

An already known problem that I as well as others reported on the dev forums. Completely ignored by Apple. Im glad its coming to light, maybe well get a fix now.

Wifi with airports works great. Anything else you have a chance at bad problems.

No problems at all for me. Mid-2011 MBA.

I don't know if it it makes a difference, but I did a clean install from the USB stick I made. Perhaps this could be a difference between a clean install or pre-install versus an upgrade?

Someone also mentioned resetting the PRAM, so that's another good idea to try.

BL.

I just got my 2014 13" rMBP a couple weeks ago and no problems at all. The WiFi is fine when restarting, waking up and stuff or just plain staying on the wireless.

I must, also, be one of the lucky ones.

Had a problem with the earlier betas but a fresh install of the later builds and the GM work fine for me.

Yep, reported it several times.

But, strangely, it seemed to have stopped for me, I have no troubles anymore since I installed the last Candidate.

Well this is a bag of HURT apple! I just upgraded to Yosemite early this morning, and now my wife is pissed at me because wifi is spotty/dropping, etc. I know better than being early adopter, but on this I did not wait my usual 4-5 weeks after launch....

I also got a new apple airport extreme for wifi ac (3x faster than n), it worked great last night but now bad. iPhones/iPads all have issues connecting....

The PB1 and PB2 were the most stable re WiFi. There was no Tx rate fluctuations etc. Since PB3 and the final version - the Tx rate is fluctuating from 260 till 1300 mbps for Time extreme capsule .
