The absolute worst update in the history of apps.

The whole update is based around Spotify meeting their internal goals around increasing Podcast traffic, at the expense of you being able to easily access your own saved music.

changing the interface (via software) is like suddenly walking up to your tried & trusted familiar stereo receiver to suddenly find all the buttons & knobs are now in weird & different places.
People just want to play their music, not hunt around & dig for "knobs & dials".

It's just about getting Spotify users to use Podcasts more... brutal.

Finally seeing the new UI pushed to me a week later. Don’t know why it took so long. So far the only thing I have found personally annoying, is the lack of A-Z letters on the right side. Scrolling through all the artist is a PITA. I can’t imagine what the thinking was behind removing that. It was a very dumb decision.

I am sure I will come across something else that annoys me as I spend more time with it, but for now, that's it.

Good! Hopefully this will be the straw that broke the camel’s back for Spotify...

..because it's always good if there's only one option available? That really does drive the innovation and keeps the prices in check! You really nailed it there.

Nope. Spotify's carplay app is lacking as is their apple watch app. Once they fix those things then maybe.
Apple also has more music and better sound quality. Interface has less bloat and I find it easier to navigate as a result. Spotifys interface is more visually appealing.
Music recommendations are better on spotify but apple has been catching up. It's no longer the dealbreaker it once was.

I feel your pain. I find both Carplay and Apple Watch lacking so I don't use them. Once they fix those then maybe.

Apple may have a greater number of songs, but it can't find even half of my current library so I couldn't care less how many teen idols they have in their selection. What comes to sound quality - buy better ears. Yours are definitely faulty. Both have decent enough sound quality at proper settings, and neither is nor will ever be high end, but it doesn't matter as most people listening to it are using Airpods or other tin cans that mangle anything completely anyway.

I agree with this. Then again, 99% of the time if I want to listen to something specific I just search for it. Why browse through endless lists?

Well I am not happy with the new interface, I use to be able to shuffle all my songs I had downloaded for random play..

Please bring it back...

I've tried Apple Music 3 times, and even with this update I'm sticking with Spotify... Apple Music feels like a hunk of something squished together, it's not fluid and logical for me...

I love Apple Music’s layout and navigation. Spotify’s on the other hand... yuck. Heres what I’m seeing:
Apple Music is designed for those who like the actual albums and like to browse by album. Spotify seems more geared toward a collection of songs from all different albums. They’ve seemed to disregard the “flow” or “theme” of an album in lieu of just getting you your music fast. This in itself is not a bad thing but navigating it is terrible. Apples layout on the other hand makes it easy to view albums and their songs.
I’m one of those people who hears a song and if I like it, I want to hear more songs from that album. Spotify makes me tap and click way too many times for this to happen and that’s enough for me to not use it.
THAT BEING SAID, that’s why I prefer Apple Music and Apple’s layout.

While I somewhat agree ...

I detest Apple's Music app on iOS that forces me to view any music in;
Genre, Artist, or even by "SONGS" to view the list by Album!!
If I want to listen to ALL the songs I have on my iOS device or via Apple Music streaming library I have I wish to actually just listen to ALL songs. I unfortunately cannot do that - nor can you or anyone else.

That’s exactly my view. I like the new UI so far, with that one exception.

Can’t understand people moaning about only whole albums appearing in the Albums tab. Personally the old way irritated hell of out me. If I saw an album, it’s an album. If I save a few songs it’s just a few songs.

But that’s the point...it’s not browsing through an endless list if you can just jump to a letter. Almost always the selection I want is either right there on the same page or just a short scroll away.

Now it’s an (almost) endless list. :(

One thing I noticed this morning when I launched Spotify is they are promoting a podcast at the top of home section of the app. Really not a fan of that, especially when I use Pocket Casts to manage and listen to podcasts.

I just hope this isn't the start of Spotify shoving podcasts down our throats - especially premium subscribers.

Had multiple "free" Apple music accounts and also paid for a month. I still like my Spotify better! I like Apple but they are too closed. Apple Music sucks when you use it with Alexa anything.
