I found that deleting the Instagram app fixed all of the issues for me a few years ago. YMMV

Yes, I remember that while scrolling, my ad-brainwash sessions were annoyingly interrupted (but very rarely I might add) by posts from accounts I actually followed. ;-)

Unfortunately for me Instagram has created a real social network where it has a service unavailable else where and a service for contacting and interacting with people or businesses where a community exists and it does not exists in any other place. I am hoping some new up and coming service takes over this evil privacy invading company but until then ...

there is a FOSS alternative if you are into photo sharing called PixelFed and if you want it to succeed join and tell your friends about it.

It is messed up for me too on Safari. I can sign in on Edge or Chrome but not Safari. Also signed in on my iPhone and iPad but Safari on my Mac Studio gets this message: There was a problem logging you into Instagram. Please try again soon.
