Putting a case on it after it's hit the floor and cracked is like me stretching a condom over my 4yr olds head. What's done is done at this point.

^^^This BY FAR is one of the funniest quotes I've ever heard!!! Ooooh man hurtin me!

You must purchase Applecare+ at the time of iPhone purchase OR within 30 days of the purchase date you can bring your iPhone to an Apple retail store. They will inspect the iPhone for damage and if there is none then sell you AppleCare+. So you cannot purchase it after the iPhone has already been damaged.

Also just dropped my iPhone a few minutes ago. Sadness all around, but I'll live. Small chip in the glass in the top left corner, but nothing else major.

iPhone isn't released yet where I live, so I don't think I can get it fixed yet.

If you buy it on the phone you can. Not much point in doing that though. You should just go to the Apple Store and look really sad and explain what happened. They'll prohably replace it for free.

I empathize with the OP but this quote is pure Gold and i'm gonna borrow it for reference sake :). I love it! Hammer to nail my friend. Thumbs up.

I will never underatand why people feel the meed to go buy a case rigjt AFTER they break their phone... Whats the point? Its broken already anyways...

It's super simple. The need for a case becomes more apparent and they decide that it's too late to stop the damage already done but it's not too late to stop further damage in the future.

Was that really not obvious to you?

SON OF A GUN.

IM LIVID.

Ok heres what happened.

I went to Orange Leaf (a frozen yogurt place) with a friend of mine. As we are sitting outside eating froyo, we both hear a *SLAM*! I look down and see my brand new iPhone 6 Plus sitting on the ground, face first.

I don't even move to retrieve it. I just stare at. I just let it sit there for 30 seconds because I didn't want to pick it up and see any damage. After 4 days of waiting for Apple to activate it (see my other thread, 'AT&T can't verify my identity'), my luck keeps getting worse & worse.

Finally, I reach down to retrieve my phone. Sure enough, its cracked...and in two different places. Both cracks are right on the bezel on the left hand side, and the very top. Fortunately, no cracks reach the main viewing screen.

After owning 8 iPhones, i've never cracked a screen. Ive had these phones fall 6 feet up in the air while doing hanging ab raises in the gym, and NEVER cracked one, much less, 1.5 feet from a chair!

Im livid. Im pissed. I want to break it in half. But....I did go buy a case for it immediately afterwards. Any idea what the screen will cost to have it replaced? I am extremely anal and a perfectionist and can't stand looking at these imperfections.

Thanks.

What would you do when you no longer have a six-pack? Use your Apple Care to replace it. I've read somewhere it costs $169-$179 for an Apple screen replacement.

I've read (mostly here) that a screen is about $110 for the 6 and $140 for the plus. Some were reporting that since they don't have screens in yet, they will just give you a "refurb" for that price. Basically you pay the price for a new screen and get an entirely new phone.
I can confirm that, as it happened to me. If you're going to pay to get it repaired, might as well do it now and get a new phone. I was going to leave it and replace it if I scratched or damaged the screen any more in future as the crack didn't reach the display, but decided to do it right away so I didn't have to stare at my own carelessness every day ;)

Hence why I require a case on the phone before I walk out the store. Screen protector 10 minutes after.

Made me smile.. But... I dropped my 5 once onto the kitchen floor, was lucky to get just two nicks in the metal and considered that to be my warning - case purchased after that and I dropped it many times after.

Currently waiting for my knomo case to turn up, and I'm not taking my phone out whilst walking about until it's on. Hopefully I have learnt my lesson!
