If you used a credit card you might be covered for the first few months if its accidental damage...
I used my chase card and I am protected for 120 days.

SON OF A GUN.
IM LIVID.
Ok heres what happened.
I went to Orange Leaf (a frozen yogurt place) with a friend of mine. As we are sitting outside eating froyo, we both hear a *SLAM*! I look down and see my brand new iPhone 6 Plus sitting on the ground, face first.
I don't even move to retrieve it. I just stare at. I just let it sit there for 30 seconds because I didn't want to pick it up and see any damage. After 4 days of waiting for Apple to activate it (see my other thread, 'AT&T can't verify my identity'), my luck keeps getting worse & worse.
Finally, I reach down to retrieve my phone. Sure enough, its cracked...and in two different places. Both cracks are right on the bezel on the left hand side, and the very top. Fortunately, no cracks reach the main viewing screen.
After owning 8 iPhones, i've never cracked a screen. Ive had these phones fall 6 feet up in the air while doing hanging ab raises in the gym, and NEVER cracked one, much less, 1.5 feet from a chair!
Im livid. Im pissed. I want to break it in half. But....I did go buy a case for it immediately afterwards. Any idea what the screen will cost to have it replaced? I am extremely anal and a perfectionist and can't stand looking at these imperfections.
Thanks.
I did go buy a case for it immediately afterwards.
$79. So it's more expensive than paying the $139 (since you have to buy it for $99 up front) but then if it happens again it would only be $79 more. Not much of a deal though since 2 screen replacements would be $139 + $139 = $278 vs Apple Care 2 screen replacements would be $99 + $79 + $79 = $257.
This is internet gold! Thanks for the laugh!Putting a case on it after it's hit the floor and cracked is like me stretching a condom over my 4yr olds head. What's done is done at this point.
This is better than the bible!Oh my God. All time greatest wisdom of all time. Add this to the Bible!
Why? He dropped it. I'm sure Apple will be happy to take his money for a repair/replacement.Take it to an Apple store and... plead... beg...cry...bribe... no seriously, you may be surprised ..except don't cry or bribe
It's damaged anyway, so worth a shot IMO![]()
Not a design issue. He/she dropped it. Can't blame Apple.bad luck and weak design i say. i havent heard of anyone saying i dropped my 6+ and nothing happened.
i literally had 2 cars drive over my 5 and the screen didnt crack. im telling ya this 6+ is screwy. that said, im still getting one! yahoo!
Came here just to write that. This is payback from the universe for using the term "froyo".
Because it is fraud. Can't you just buy apple care and then get it exchanged?
And that is fraud. Not only would Apple Care + be a little cheaper but your phone and accessories (lightning cable) is covered for 2 years.

Just call the 800 number and put Apple Care + on it. Its still within the 60 days of purchase and that's the only requirement.
You still pay the $99 + $79 like anybody else plus your covered for another future mishap. Apple should not care if you have to use it right away.
I had Apple Care + on mine before it came out of the box.

I used my Chase card! But I also did AT&T next and only paid $53 (taxes) for the phone.
Then you should be protected for the first 120 days against damage.
Contact chase and see what you need to do.

It's super simple. The need for a case becomes more apparent and they decide that it's too late to stop the damage already done but it's not too late to stop further damage in the future.
Was that really not obvious to you?
Check out the guy talking about a condom over his 4 yr old's head. Makes sense to me. Same principal.
Not quite. The similar principle would be wearing a condom while having sex after having had a kid. You can't stop the first kid but you can stop having kids in the future if you start wearing a condom with all future sex.
Was that really not obvious to you?
Guilty of this too. I have always bought them with apple care included . Now the apple care plus also covers 2 events of accidental damage.I'm just shocked you've owned eight iPhones. 2G, 3G, 3GS, 4, 4S, 5, 5S, 6?
But honestly, sorry about the incident.
