I had an idea for a simple, fun little thread; post your most listened-to song of the week. :)

Being that I'm still trying to get Minecraft for the G5 running properly, I've been listening to the game's soundtracks. Mostly the second one first introduced with version 1.7.2, of which the below track has been a particular favorite of mine for its subtlety and "world" influence, with 'Dreiton' taking a close second. C418 really makes some good stuff.

There is no real 'song' I listen to a lot.

But I often have this internet radio station on for more than eight hours a day.

I listen to so much music, idk what my most listened to song of the week is. Instead I'll post one that has been going through my head a lot recently :p

Cannot stop listening to Danish Viking yodelers Heilung. The track is Norupo short for "Norwegian Rune Poem" speaks to my 2% Scandavian genes. Language is proto-Norse. The music starts at 1:40, first minute is just them taking mushrooms. Notice the appropriate 2020 social distancing. With, umm, Antlers. Love that the credits at the end are in runes.

I like underground hip hop/phonk/808 cowbell/memphis rap/whatever you want to call it. My most listened song this week is probably this:

I've also been listening to a lot of the NYC underground hip hop group from back in the day called Company Flow. Great stuff, and very unique.

This weeks song of the week for me is "Never fight a Man with a Perm" from Bristol (UK) post rock post punk band IDLES. Love the energy, love the realness, the non fake madness. So much music and almost all rock these days is utterly awful, this Glastonbury set from last year reminds me of some of the very best punk shows I went to in the 80s. Concrete to Leather!

My Gosh. I played a ton of rock shows through the late 90s up through around 2010s and never did I or the guys think to rock in our underwear. :D

Anyhoo I’m cheating so red dog was really last week. This week it’s been more along the lines of Mogwai:

I'm a sucker for bangin' tunes; so here's another one of my favorites. I'm probably listening to it at least once every week!

Porscha (same album) is a very close second.

I realize it hasn't been a week, but this song is absolutely addicting:

Music is powerful. :)

Fates Warning- Point of View

A song/video for these extremely polarizing political times; at least in America. Progressive metal for "boring muso types"...

(Since I refuse to link YouTube or anything Google, the video won't show up here.)

I'm really starting to get into the Marathon games (which are now pretty much free software). From what I've played so far, they are far deeper and more immersive / intelligent experiences than Doom or Quake with just as dedicated a community following (albeit a smaller one at that), and will even run great on the lowest G3. But of course, one would expect nothing less from the predecessors of the first Halo entries, the original of which is still one of the most matured and well-designed FPS titles I've seen to date.

Here's a particularly good piece:

And here's a remix of said piece by the game's community:

And now here's a mashup of the above remix with Halo's Covenant Dance, which is also a great piece:

My compliments to Bungie and Marathon's community on these. :)
