I've never seen a thread with so many down votes. Probably because of the amount of inane and negative comments. Seriously.

But here's mine. I think Sorkin would be perfect to write this. He's one of the better writers in Hollywood right now for the intelligent audience.

There - right - there - maybe that's the reason for all the downvotes ;)

Come on!

If master idiot SUCKERBERG and his 1000 times more idiotic FACEBLOK deserved a movie, how come Steve should not get one ASAP?

Classic case of someone posting only in an attempt to be hilarious with the use of word substitution.

Nah, Christian Bale, hands down. He's got the wild eye and soul-searing passion that he brings to the screen.

My vote goes to Viggo Mortensen, though Bale is not a bad choice. I like Noah Wyle, but he's just not that good an actor.

I am really not a fan of the movies listed as his referenced work. Whomever does this story really needs to work closely with Issiacson, and any others who actually knew Steve Jobs personally.

Honestly If I had a choice, I would choose to pay for the audio recordings Issiacson has of Jobs, over any movie anybody would make.

You've got that right. Any screenplay or production will spin every event to sensationalize it to increase sales and profit. Just like our modern day journalists. Listening to Jobs actual words would minimize that to a small extent since his statements would still be resequenced and edited to sensationalize his meaning and intent.

Ohhhhh the irony. The CEO most known for reality distortion, marketing and PR - the ultimate pitchman getting a movie that did the same thing.

I really have to chuckle.

Hm, it's feels a bit cheesy I would have preferred a documentary. But that's just me.

People are really milking this. Sad.

If they are it's because it's what Jobs wanted. Jobs contacted Isaacson about writing a bio of him because Jobs wanted his family to know why he didn't spend as much time with them as he would have liked. In fact Jobs asked that the publication date be moved up once he learned his days were limited. Major books these days get turned into movies. It's a no-brainer. I'm sure Jobs understood that and invited it. And of course fans always play the "who should play the role of X."

So before you make high handed comments maybe understand this is not the situation of vultures feeding on a carcass. Everything is happening as Jobs planned, as was the case with everything he did.

I'd watch that.

Sorkin's movie writing is a tad 'meh'.

Now on TV as a mini series. THAT I would watch. And if they were going for more of a 4-6 'hour' gig, they wouldn't have to compress as much.

I would only ever consider Noah Wyle for the part. You have to take in to consideration how close Jobs and Wyle got following the film, the peak of which the public saw when Noah impersonated Steve before (I believe) MacWorld.

Trouble is that Noah is currently on a TV show and who knows what other deals he might have already agreed to. So he could simply be unavailable. And I don't see Sony waiting years and years for him to free to do it just to have him. They will want to strike now while folks are still very interested in Steve.

So something like Jim Sturgess and Christian Bale could end up being what happens. And while you say no way, tons of folks won't feel the same. In fact for many of them it would be more like "Noah who?" because he's mostly known for TV and after ER ended, nothing of extreme note (Falling Skies is very niche in terms of audience)

The whole Facebook thing got a movie more on the merits of the betrayal story than the actual site.

Why does it need to be a movie again?

For the same reason Hollywood does all biopics. To make money.

Which is also why they won't wait. If they hang onto this for years then folks just won't care anymore. Start it now, fast track it for 2 years from now tops and folks might still give a dang about 'the real steve'

Noah is fine as an actor. Did a great Steve. But he's currently on a TV show that doesn't seem to be going anywhere so he might not be available and he certainly wouldn't be able to lose all the weight needed to really show the role. And might not want to. (CGI looks like it for such things).

Whereas Bale lives for such things. Seems like he will take roles based on the need to turn himself into a walking skeleton.

Case in point.
