Follow twitter accounts that post announcements of upcoming restocks (search for "ps5 restock"), and turn on notifications, and then try at the posted times. Rinse/repeat. Took me a couple of weeks (ymmv, obviously). Yes, it's frustrating that, with the chip shortages and pandemic and whatnot, production still hasn't caught up with demand.

They apparently had PS5's available at walmart at noon(Pacific time) also had them 10 minutes after that..its how I got mine back in Feb..once you have it saved in your "List" the next time it appears just quickly add to cart and check out

Tone deaf AF Sony. I'm not a console gamer, but clearly Sony needs to focus on PS5 retail availability rather than simply contenting itself with throwing another log (or maybe in this case 'twig') on the scalper-exploitative-douche-bag bonfire that continues to, more or less, rage out of control. There may not be a 'good' solution to the problem, but I would like to see at least a tiny bit of 'try harder / try different' to disrupt the current situation.
You're talking about two entirely different departments (it feels like when people complain about Apple adding new emoji - because they were added to Unicode - instead of fixing some bug in the OS - it's not like graphic designers and programmers are interchangeable). There's a decent chance that this is one part of some other deal between Sony and Apple. It's not like Sony is trying to aggravate potential customers.

I hear that if you have a PSN account, Sony sometimes sends out offers to sell PS5's direct (I don't know the precise details, since I got my PSN account because I got a PS5).

Perfect timing! My trial was scheduled to end on 7/28, and was about to cancel in the next few days. I just installed Apple TV on the PS5, logged in, and now the trial has been extended until 1/28/2022. Awesome!

FYI - Didn't see this posted anywhere so I'll add it:

If you had already logged into your PS5 with your Apple account previously and couldn't get it to work:

1.) Log out of your Apple TV account on the console
2.) Close the app (or load a different Media app)
3.) Update the Apple TV app, if needed
4.) In your PS Home Screen, highlight the Apple TV app. You should see the 6 months free banner on screen
5.) Highlight and click the banner. A screen should show up asking if you would like to redeem your 6 months free. Click to agree.
6.) Log in account with your Apple ID account.
7.) You should see a "Subscription Confirmed" banner after the log in.

"You do plan to have Playstation 5's for sale to take advantage of this?"
They’ve sold in the neighborhood of 9 million PS5’s, there are plenty of people to take advantage of this.

It’s really not so much that Sony is offering this as a major enticement to sell more PS5’s, it’s more Apple looking to get people to subscribe to TV+, if anything, but it’s mutually beneficial to both companies.

Awesome, redeemed through my PS5, then switched to the LG App, and it works fine still.

Ahh…yes this worked. Didn’t need to log out, just had to redeem from the ps5 square outside of the app

Awesome, worked for me after I closed the app first.

Got it to work, it was a little hinky with the app, but it went through second time. I had not bought Apple TV+ before, but availed the trial that initially came with my phone, and was using the family sharing up until last month when family member's trial expired. Now it's been extended six months. Also to those complaining about how to buy a PS5, foolproof method: turn on a twitch streamer who has a black background until a drop, the background will change to fireworks when it does indicating when to go on the website for purchase. I got mine a week after release.

One downfall to watching Apple TV+ on PS5 is there's no Dolby Atmos or Dolby Vision support.

Sameeee. Now we can watch season two of Ted Lasso for free!

The nice thing about this free trial is you don't have to necessarily use the PS5 for viewing. After I did it I saw the new date on my iPhone instantly.

stack with target circle gives you another 4 months free lol!

I’m unable to stack this with my trial. ☹️

dang

I wonder if it let me because I just signed up for a month and was a 'paid subscriber', after cancelling my 1.5 year trial a day before it ended, did the 6 month ps5 thing then stacked target by pure luck
Vs. being many months into the original trial from my se2 still

no matter the reason I’m happy! Set for almost another whole year

gonna say ymmv for this one - sorry didnt work for you

--

also if you have an expired account, may want to do this 4 month from target first then stack the ps5 deal since it seems more finicky (though I did it the other way around)

The Target link has some other nice deals like 6 months of Apple Arcade, even though I used it once with my free trial for 12 pro, just got it until end of the year (used on an expired sub, only got 5 months but whatever),

4 months of iCloud 50GB (have to be a new subscriber, didnt work for me)

and I think 4 months of Apple Music which I will probably use for my expired Apple Music sub But gonna hold off for a while since I actively use Spotify.

I think all Target offers expire July 2022 to redeem as well like this PS5 one for ATV+

Wow, thanks for posting that. I'm going to sign up before I do some traveling this fall.

Went ahead and got the additional trial for apple tv Im good til the end of December 2022..but quick question though, when I go back on the app and scroll over it I still see the advertisement for 6 additional free months, even though I already got it on my account..does everyone still see it even though you already applied it?

I just went and verified the date changed in my list of subscriptions.I think that's what's really important.
