Maybe Sony could have waited until the day (year?) after the funeral before chasing down that funeral’s latent profits.

Yep.

All this talk of "too soon" is fair, but it's just business reality that someone is going to try and snap up the rights to a movie. So hating on Sony seems inappropriate. Don't hate the player, hate the game. ;)

Never a tragedy too poignant to exploit...

I think you need to learn the definition of a tragedy. You got exploit bang on though.

If it happens to me it's tragedy.

If it happens to you it's comedy.

That's funny.

I would think Disney would get first dips to produce such a movie (Steve is the biggest inividual share holder of Disney); Sony being a competitor and all.

Neither are true. Youre still alive.

I'd much rather see a good documentary on him produced instead of a dramatization of his life--so much stuff is made up "for dramatic effect" that most of these types of films lose all credibility.

Actually if it was done very professionally with a great director and excellent actors. And keeping true to the biography it would be an excellent film.

I think it's tasteless to announce this so close to Steve's death. Not cool at all.

But since we're on the subject, Ashton Kutcher looks like a young Steve.
He would probably be considered for the part.

Wow.

Ashton Kutcher's OK, but I hate his acting

Director?

Thinking Marc Webb. Currently doing Spiderman, but did a great job with 500 Days of Summer.

Noah Wyle again, of course!

SJ actually hated the script and the production values of Pirates Of Silicon Valley, but did like Noah's performance in it and did think he looks like him.

+1 here
I was going to say the same thing about Noah Wyle. They could not have found a better actor for PoSV. and i think it sill stands true to this day. actually all of the actors in PoSV that portrayed their real life counterparts could not have been more better.

Christian Bale would be good

Oh, Thats another good one. He would probably be my only other pick to play as SJ besides Noah Wyle.

I knew something like this had to appear in the news soon. I just hope they don't mess up, treat it well and get a good director to make the movie. The best person in my head is James Cameron, to me he's sort of the Steve Jobs of Hollywood.

Edit: On a second thought, even John Lasseter would be a good choice, since we would've also known Steve enough to treat the movie with respect.

Frank Darabont.
