Oh I’m aware of the rumor. Let the product arrive and let’s form an opinion based on facts rather than the childish “x will destroy z” conversation made up from hot air.
Nothing wrong with discussing expectations about upcoming products and comparing rumors to existing products. Agree that bluster is a turn off, but that’s a style issue.

How loud are they? I’ve returned every pair of Bose headphones I’ve bought because they’re too quiet. I feel like I have to crank the volume to hear anything.
Haven’t noticed an issue. Fwiw, I use them while I mow my 3-acre lawn with a 3-rotor zero-radius beast, and I don’t have it turned up all the way.

Look like a "Xerox copy" of the beats. Sony spends less on R&D than Apple spends on toilet paper at their offices. flattery but, y bother with these; get the original apple/beats.
Sony's been in the headphone business for decades. This is just a revision of Sony's XM2 headphones which were released concurrent to Beats's wireless Studio 3. There's a reason all headphones look the same- the ergonomics are well established and headphones are a mature technology.

I doubt it.

Although, I wonder if Sony has addressed the horrible cracking issues which plagued earlier models. I have a big head and my XM2s cracked and Sony refused to do anything about it.
This wasn’t an issue with the XM3s so idk why it would be with these.

I always can't believe how much a pair of wireless over ear headphones are that are "higher" end.

Claiming z flushes y down the toilet is hardly discussing an expectation. Its guesswork at best and I’ll take the time to call that out. It’s fine to have a debate - if you have anything that’s remotely close to more than hot air.

I’ll be waiting for a few months to see how the headbands are (xm2/xm3 broke for a lot of careful users, myself included).

there are also lots of cheaper alternatives NC wise now. I got some Boltune NC ones for £50 from Amazon and they are 90% of the Sony performance for about 20% of the cost.

I just feel a little guilty about getting, effectively Chinese knock offs, as they likely just backwards engineered the IP of Bose/Sony et al

So here is the game changer, what if the new Apple Pro Studio headphones had both Bluetooth and WIFI 6 for data transmission. If you had had WIFI you could have a larger audio file like SACD quality, you could walk around with only the limits to your WIFI router signal. Auto switching of devices like the Mac, iPad, iPhone and Apple Watch. And other cool stuff when you have 802.11AX and a A13 processor on a set of head phones. I think you are under estimating what Apple has in store for these new headphones. We will know soon what apple has in store!

The Beats Solo3 Wireless headphones I have already have insane range. Far beyond any bluetooth headphones I've ever owned. I can go outside and halfway down the street with my iPhone in the house and still get clear audio. So I expect range to be top notch in whatever Apple does.

That being said, audio quality, comfort, and auto switching is far better on my Bose QC35IIs so I use them more often.

XM3s have been amazing. I sold mine about six months ago as we were supposed to get an imminent release of the updated XM4 model clear back then. Now, I think I am too used to just sticking with AirPods Pro. I don’t believe it’s worth the space to carry around these large cans. They definitely sound incredible, but AirPods Pro are very good in an amazingly small package that fits in my pocket.

So in some cases, Sony languished too long with their XM3s, as if they had released the XM4s by March, I would have bought them. Now, it’s a sorry but pass scenario. I am sure they will sound amazing though. And Bluetooth 5 will be a great benefit.

My XM4s arrive tomorrow - really looking forward to them.

I’ve been super disappointed with my 2 sets of airpods and how the long the battery lifespan is ... ok my latest paid one of the ears last literally 12mins from full charge to shut off and they’re only max.18mths old - they have been used a lot but I still expect more longevity and the replacement cost is laughable - this experience has really soured me on waiting for the AirPod Studio variant.

My XM2 are still doing well 3 years in, but my MDR-1000X cracked to the point of becoming unusable after 10 months...

Didn't improve the depth of the earcups so ears will still touch? come on sony, wtf. Just copy bose's earcup design which is near perfect

Depends on your use case of course, but the different in ANC between the two is like a chasm.

Same goes for the sound quality imo, but that’s a lot more subjective.

I genuinely don’t mean to sound snarky or aggressive when I say this, but I also think you’re massively overestimating the relevance of your own personal situation.

They’re both expensive enough and share the same purpose to definitely be an either/or for some people, but they’re vastly different products in that same space.

I like my AirPods Pro, but they’re probably the last of its kind I’ll purchase. They essentially have a 3 year expiry date whether you use them or not - understandable due to battery limitations, but a ludicrous situation given the price - and I don’t appreciate the auto fw update mechanism.

Are the ear cups large? I have the Samsung Level On's and really like them, but they tend to fatigue my ears after an hour or so, the ear cups are just too small and end up pressing my ears against my head. Also how is the support where it sits on the head? I guess no one has these so my question applies more to the XM3's which are pretty much the same thing on the outside.
