Getting a 32gb Black iPad Mini wifi to go with my iPad 3 .

Best of luck to all, no matter which of the new iToys you decide to purchase.

iPad minis for now!

samsungtupperwares,

Enjoy trolling this board. It must be boring in the plastics arena / forums. :D

Neither. These iToys are getting too expensive to replace every six months to a year. My iPad 3 works perfectly well for my simple purposes, and I doubt I'm enough of a power user to tell an appreciable difference between the 3 and the 4. I've also got a top of the line LTE, which means it will also take the biggest beating in resale value, roughly a $230 to $330 loss in six months of use.

Not sure about the mini, except that it will come out with double the specs at the same price point next year.

I like the screen of the 3, but am not quite wild about the weight of it. It's more like a big old college textbook (Do they even have these anymore?) that I would read at a desk instead of a magazine that I could comfortably read for extended periods on say, a couch.

The mini sounds like it will be the opposite, where the size and weight would be excellent, but I have concerns that the smaller, low res screen will be harder on my middle aged, bi-focal wearing eyes.

One possible caveat is that if a when a new model comes out next year, I may give my 3 to my lovable klutz of a wife, who dropped her 2 and cracked the screen. Simply because the 3 does have applecare plus for another year and a half.

i'm going to get the ipad mini wifi with 32 gb.

indeed i considered to get the ipad 4 over the mini but in the same configuration i will pay ~170€ more and if we get the retina mini in a half year i will sell the first gen mini for maybe 300€, spend the extra 170-200€ i have saved on the ipad 4 for the retina mini and it is all about the same ;).

After reading about the bad display on the mini, I've changed my mind.

I will let Friday pass, then order a new Nexus 4 from Google Play next week.

It's got everything I want, except it's not made by Apple.

If only they would have built a phone to the Nexus specs I'd be thrilled.

Nexus 4 only comes with either 8GB or 16GB storage? Wow, that's major FAIL if you want to use your phone to play MP3's, take photos, and record videos.

Doesn't look like the Nexus 4 has expandable storage using microSD.

No LTE either.

So how does the Nexus 4 beat the iPhone 5 besides having a larger screen?

New Ipad 4, 4th Gen or iPad late 2012...

I've ordered a 64GB Black iPad 4th Gen Wifi + LTE on Apple.ca It says delivery "Late Nov."

Because of this I've decided to try my luck tomorrow morning at the Apple store in Montreal. I called, and the nice girl on the phone said they will have LTE models.

Anyone know for sure if this is true, I'm hearing that the Mini will NOT be available in LTE tomorrow, but I want the 9.7 " model...

Oh well... there's always next year.

Right...
Not even LTE.
No sd card slot that fandroids insist is so important.
Cheap plastic, giant screen.

...we all know thats coming next year probably for the iPad mini) so this isn't a igood time to get a Mini
Good chance the next iPad (5th gen) will be the first real redesign of the full size form factor, thinner bezels, lighter, possibly similar to a blown up mini in appearance. The existing iPad look has grown kind of stale and another speed bump is probably not going to cut it. Might not be the best time to buy the full size iPad either.

Ya i mean its pretty clear man, next year the iPad mini will get a Retina display,

at the moment, its basically an iPad 2 in a smaller case.. sure the the design is much nicer but thats all, performance wise its like an iPad 2,

the PPI count on the Mini is almost HALF of the iPad 4th's Retina Display PPI

Actually John Gruber rated its performance as iPad 3 like. The mini and the iPad 3 posted very similar Geekbench scores. Granted both were only half of the score posted by the iPad 4. The only area of concern I have for the mini's performance. I've never felt that my iPad 2 was under powered CPU wise but the 512MB of RAM is noticeable in web page reloads. There is a rumor that the A5 in the mini may be clocked a bit higher than the A5 in the iPad 2 but that's probably not going to make up for the 512MB of RAM.

iPad mini for sure. I already have a 3rd gen iPad that works just fine. I'll skip the 4th gen and pickup the 5th once it's available.

It does not look like Nexus 4 is intend to target Iphone at all. It is there to battle Samsung and other Android phone maker and forcing them to lower the price point of all mid to low end Android phone. And given the size of storage, it is really intended for developing country like eastern Europe, Africa, China, Phillippines that type of place where low price is important. Google intention is to expand the number of Android unit which use Google search engine. They don't particularly care about whether Android phone manufacturer will make money or now. By put a phone out at a low price, it force all other Android phones will similar spec to match or exceed the price of Nexus 4.

I was responding to a guy who said he wishes Apple "would have built a phone to the Nexus specs I'd be thrilled."

So he wants the iPhone to have lower PPI screen, no LTE, and max storage of 16GB.

I'd go in and see for yourself...

Getting a mini to go with my Nexus 7. I like having access to BT platforms. Helps that I got the Nexus 7 for $98 (price error).

The biggest problem I have with my iPhone 5 is it's tiny narrow display.

PPI values: iPhone 5 = 326, Nexus 4 = 320.
You cannot even notice that small of a difference.

The extra width of the 4.7" 4.0" display is huge for comfort speed and typing accuracy. Not to mention less scrolling and a far better web experience. Both IPS, the Nexus is brilliant.

I have LTE on my Galaxy S III, it's a feature I could take or leave. The advantage of no LTE is increased battery life.

16GB is perfect since I have an iPod with my music and never watch videos on a smartphone.

The Nexus 4 is an ideal configuration for my preferences.

The PPI argument is ridiculous. 326 vs 320 really?

NFC, inductive charging, bigger screen, notification LED, 2GB RAM, Quad-Core processor. Those are the things I believe he's talking about.

And just as easily as you can dismiss 4.7" as a "giant screen", someone else could say the iphone 5 has a tiny narrow display. It just depends how you look at it. One thing you can say is that Apple is the only smartphone manufacturer whose flagship phone is under 4.5"

Nexus 4 biggest problem:

16GB max storage.

That nice 4.7" screen and quad-core processor hampered by the amount of music, photos, videos, games, and apps you put on the device.

The retina fanatics seriously crack me up. I bet for the average user, the screen will be perfectly fine! I bought the mini for my 6 year old. My step-mom has the iPad 2, and I think the screen looks just fine!

Just a bunch of spec fanatics! I have both the iPad 3 & the iPad 2. I prefer the 2 as it eats up a lot less storage for apps & the screen is fine!

Ordered 2 mini's for the kids & if I like em I'll probally get a 32 gig for my self!

Way too much hype and miss information on retina screen for the iPads! There's very minor differance to me in the screens & the iPad is perfectly acceptable to all, except the wanna have the top specs crowd! ;)

Neither. I've had my iPad 3 on Craigslist since the new ones were announced and only two people have replied, offering me ridiculously low offers, so I've decided I'll just keep it. I'm not gonna give it away like that.

The only reason I'd get the iPad 4 is for the Lightning connector.

Same here. sold my ipad 3 on Craiglist and will get ipad 4 so that it can share the same lighting connector as my iphone 5, plus speed pump.
