I think we have a Yankees zealot...now even though I'll probably like the Yankees for as long as they exist, even that [above quote] is too overpowering to initiate a calm discussion.

There's a fine line between supporting a team as a personal favorite, and demanding that your favorite team be appreciated by everyone else. Obviously, the first above quote demonstrates that. But for those that relate too closely...there are a few people that do that, and it may be the only solution for now, but someone that demands such attention needs to develop a force of habit to want to stay on the other side of the fine line, and then stay there.
(Seriously, there is a such thing as a fine line. I looked at it the other day biology class.)
