Unfortunately, I didn’t know about that and the woman on the telephone didn’t mention this. I returned it to the local Apple store. For a refund.

I called after sales again though after I read your comment. They’ll expedit my new order and put it at the top of the line. Thanks for the info :)
Good stuff! :) Additionally, for future reference: if you take the exchange option, the new item will begin processing once you've dropped off the old one to the courier (or they've collected it). So you don't have to wait for it to arrive back to Apple.

Also, in some cases, for backordered items and where the customer has a good track record with Apple (e.g. lots of orders and no problems), Apple can actually send you the new item before you send the old one back.

Just pulled the trigger on a SSSB S3! coming from a S0 SS Silver and a S2 SS Silver. Will post pic tomorrow after I have had a play. Got loads of bands, I hope they all suit it :)

Is it true that the black Stainless Steel is much more difficult to scratch? I might be upgrading from my current series 0 SS Apple Watch and I want one that’s more durable, it’s either this or the Ceramic version.

I hear so. I went into the Apple store near me yesterday and tried on the Ceramic grey and the space black - just can't justify the difference in price for the ceramic so that is why I went for the SB. My SS silver I need to polish up every couple of weeks, so I am hoping the DLC coating will let on this one.

That's been my experience - I started with a Series 0 Stainless Steel and it was scratched to hell after a year of daily wear. My local watchmaker couldn't polish everything out, and he's really good.

I bought a Space Black to replace it in 2016, and it looked new right up until I fell off my mountain bike last Memorial day weekend. Prior to the accident it looked new, and I didn't treat it any differently than my plain stainless.

But they still break just as easily with a big impact.

Ouch that looks nasty, hope you didn't injure yourself too much. My Stainless Steel Series 0 has scratches that just won't polish out (some have come out tho) so i was thinking of getting the Black Stainless Steel this time around, i think it looks good. I'm just not sure if i should keep my Series 0 for another year or upgrade to the Series 3 now, i don't need LTE, i do go for a run so the fitness aspect of the Apple Watch i really like, most of all it's battery improvement i'm looking for.

I’m going to get the black, because I like the stealth vibe, but there’s no reason to worry about a bunch of little scratches in steel. That’s part of watch wearing, whether it’s a $600 AW or $20K Patek.

I have been impressed with the resiliency of the diamond like carbon coating on the space black Apple Watch. Personally, I think it looks really nice with the stealth look as you mentioned. Any other thing, is this is the one watch I don't see too many people own compared to the aluminum and regular stainless.

@Dave245 - the S3 does have insanely better battery life than S0 (especially if you keep the LTE use to a minimum) - but, you being a runner - if you do cross-country, you may be interested in its barometric altimeter - so your workouts will now include the elevation dynamic.

@HeadphoneAddict - Damn man, break any bones or just the scrapes?! :) Hope you have AC+ on that watch so you weren't out of pocket to get it replaced!!!

That's good then as my current Series 0 gets low battery life, if i go for a run it will barely last a full day, LTE doesn't bother me and something i won't use. I just wondered if it's a big enough upgrade from the Series 0, especially since i would be getting either the SS black or Ceramic version. The Black SS looks really nice.

I certainly think so (can't light up the cellular on mine until next year as my carrier doesn't support eSIM provisioning yet) - still considered it a very worthy upgrade from my S0 SBSS. :)

I love my Series 0 for the fitness aspect, the heart rate and so on i find very helpful to know especially when running. I also love the different Watch Face's like Toy Story and so on.

Hey guys. I got my SS SB just over a week ago. Really like it! But have now decided to get the ceramic space grey. I'll be a little sad to send the SB back as it truly is a lovely looking watch. Did any other SB owners move over to the ceramic space grey as well?

I made the exact same move, Series 2 edition to Series 3 SSSB, returned for the ceramic grey. The black was nice but perhaps too nice, I missed the contrasting colors but didn't want to go back to white.

I’ve not seen nor handled the ceramic SG. But from the pictures and what I’ve read, it seems to be versatile and the colour hue changes depending on the light(?). The SB is gorgeous, but fingerprints are a bit of an issue tbh.

I wanted to get caught up in the "it changes colors depending on the light!!" but honestly I don't really notice a difference from inside/outside light. I feel comfortable knowing it's durability and I felt like I had to protect the SSSB while wearing it.

My exact thoughts, mate! I find myself being overly cautious with the SS. I know it is supposed to be more scratch resistant than regular SS due to the DLC, but can the risk factor is greatly reduced with ceramic. Will defo put my mind at ease with scratches, potential knocks, etc.

With a Watch in my wrist pretty much 24/u, I think it’s totally worth it for that piece of mind.
